There are so many wonderful reasons to take your dog for a walk, I couldn’t possibly put my paws on all of them in one post, which is why I narrowed my list to six good reasons.
Below is a little infographic I created with my own paws showing six great reasons to walk your dog.
Celebrate National Walk Your Dog Week, #DogWalkingWeek with My GBGV Life (that’s me) and Cascadian Nomads. For all the furry details click here, or if you already know what you need to know, enter the blog hop below and fill out the widget to enter the giveaway! Just a reminder, you have until the 7th to enter this blog hop, but if you accept the challenge to walk every day, you must enter in the widget as well. Happy walking!
Great reasons! We’d add: FUN!
Good point, but I guess since we always thing of walks as fun we forgot to mention it!
Great list, Emma, and I love the infographic. Yesterday morning I was feeling crabby and out of sorts, like I had a migraine coming on. I took Sheba for an hour long walk, and I forgot all about how lousy I had felt! The fresh air and exercise were exactly what I needed.
Mom says a walk or a run is a cure all for her. I have no idea about that, but it appears to be a human thing. Glad the walk helped you out!
Peeps says taking me for a walk is a win/win situation except if I make mischief that is LOL. Have a serene and easy Sunday.
Best wishes Molly
This mischief makes a walk suspenseful…humans never know when we may start some. It keeps humans on their toes.
all the reason we go walking every day 🙂
Keep on walking!
Great reasons! I love the time to just be with the fluffies and relax. It’s the pyrfect way to unwind after a long day.
It is a great way to relax, and we dogs relax too as it is what we love to do.
We would add being seen with the Cute Factor too!
Awww…such thoughtful kitties!
I agree with all the reasons and even when it is dark outside and even when it rains like crazy, the main thing is to be together. And another reason: I found 1 euro today, YAY I’m rich! and that’s all because I walked with Easy :o)
We found a penny which isn’t much, but they say it is lucky to find one. We love dark morning walks, it is really a whole different feeling. Don’t like dark night walks, though.
We so agree with all of those thanks! Love Dolly Pees: But mom does bring her phone for emergencies.
My mom usually does to, but it is not for chit chat or games and stuff on a walk 🙂
Walking Week always makes us sort of wish that we lived in town where we could go on walks…. instead of just going outside to wander our hillsides.
Katie has has both scenarios, and says they both have their advantages. We just know none of us, including Mom, would want to live in a city, but suburb or country is good.
Can’t beat a good walk!
You know what you are howling about for sure! Love my walks!
Those are 6 perfect reasons
Lily & Edward
Thanks you two 🙂
Those are all great reasons for walking. I also need to keep a good track of all the smells in my neighborhood. I hope we can take a walk together in Nashville. ♥ ♥ Your Basset, Bentley
It may be a super long but extremely short walk if our noses get busy!
I love how relaxing and refreshing it is; I definitely agree. Autumn is an excellent time in Michigan for long walks – it’s not too hot and the cool air is so refreshing. Those are all great reasons for walking, and the best part is after a little while it becomes a habit that’s easy to stick to.
We get antsy and Mom gets crabby if we don’t walk. We love the cool weather too. Summer is our least favorite season because of the heat.
All great reasons to walk your dogs of course!!!!

Thank you 🙂
We are walking every day, Look for our tips tomorrow! But I don’t see the widget.
That widget will be the death of me! It keeps disappearing. I put the code in, and a while later it is partially gone and no widget. I just put it back again, but Cascadian Nomads has it for sure on every post. I’ve never used this kind of a widget before, so not sure what is going on with it and the code. Looking forward to your post tomorrow!
Mom gets “the look” if we don’t walk every day, every day, every day. Is that a good reason, Emma?
That is a good reason for sure. I know you love your walks like we love ours.
Mr. N puts his paw down firmly about daily walks. I think he’s as addicted to checking his “mail” as we are our phones!
We enjoy checking our “mail”, but are more interested in hunting down critters in the area!
we kind of have to cut down on walking outside because of the haze… I miss it and that human is getting lazier and fatter…hah!
That is nasty! You need to move to a haze free zone!
Great tips, Sorry I missed this week, we were running much in canada.
That’s okay. You have to have a vacation some time. You have active dogs too, so you don’t need the motivation as much.
Great infographic & love no.5 a digital reprieve. That reason is a good one for our modern society 😉
We get really mad when we see people walking their dogs but concentrating on talking on their phones. Walking should be unplugged and dog/human bonding time. We have our phone along, but for emergencies only.
Nice info graphic!
Thank you.
