It’s a wrap (or maybe a GBGV in a wrap). National Walk Your Dog Week and our #DogWalkingWeek fun with the Cascadian Nomads has come to a close, but wait! Not really, we now have the follow up blog hop which will be open until the 12th. We invite you to join this blog hop to post about how your week went with walking your dog, what you did, what you learned, and anything else you may want to share. Many, many thanks and a big apaws to everyone that took on the challenge of walking their dog all seven days, and joining in our blog hop, and giveaway!
My biggest challenge was posting for seven straight days without becoming boring. I know it is hard to believe I could be boring, but it has happened. We walked several times a day as we always do, but we also took a new walk in a new place. I was, if you can believe this one, forced to sit in the car for two hours on Saturday while Bailie attended her tracking class. Mom too me along so we could all go for a walk on the way home. It sure was embarrassing being a scent hound not tracking! Never mind that, we drove to Hastings on the way home and took a walk along the Mississippi River by the lock and dam.
The original idea Mom has was to walk along the river and look at the beautiful fall leaves. Well, epic failure! The leaves were mostly still green or had already fallen.
Since there were no pretty leaves to look at, we were excited to see boats on the river. I thought this old paddle boat was pretty interesting looking. They must give tours because we could hear some guy talking on the loudspeaker all the way over on the shore!
We found a look out type thing to go out onto. Bailie and I decided to take a short break on it. The lock and dam is there behind us.
I saw a couple barges going up the river. Man are those things long or what??? They say a GBGV is a long dog, but I’m nothing in comparison!
We found the public boat dock. Sadly, no boats docked to give us a ride, so we just hung out for a while. It was a might scary as there was nothing on the sides, so we could just fall into the water.
I took one last good look at a barge before we got back into the car. I thought maybe a fancy pose might get a toot on the boat horn, but that didn’t happen.
It was a fun walk, even if it wasn’t what we were expecting. Lots of nice, and interesting new smells from the river too! Now it’s time to join the Wrap Up Blog Hop. Grab the badge, write your post, and visit the other blogs to see what they did during #DogWalkingWeek!
Pity about the leaves but still a walk by the river looks like a good choice and what great smells. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
The river smells were real new to us and quite exciting.
You look good in your ‘wrap!’
I may end up on a menu somewhere if Mom promotes this wrap thing too much!
That looks like such a nice place to walk (along the river). I’m surprised that boat didn’t ring the bell for beautiful you!
On the other paw, a horn may have scared me out of my fur and caused me to lose balance!
You sure always have the most fun walks!
We like to keep in interesting.
I love your river! How bad that not one boat came along for a ride on the river. I like rivers and barges and ships, I always ponder about their destination and their cargo (treats!)
Oh man! If those barges were full of treats, it would be heaven. We didn’t smell any treats, though.
An Emma burrito – love it. That looks like a fun walk along the river. We posted our wrap-up today with pictures from all of our walks too! Thanks for doing this Hop, it was fun.
Thanks for joining and walking. Hopefully some folks got out and walked that don’t normally walk.
what a great walk – when ever we go to Memphis we see big barges like that on the Mississippi too. We had a pawsome time with our walking week and even though we walk everyday we still like to set a goal each day to keep it interesting.
Keeping it interesting is the key. Even now we walk in the dark in the morning which is something different. Yesterday, we saw the lunar eclipse which was fun.
Looks like a great walk by the river. We think you’re going to need a paw-massage after all that walking! BOL!
Good idea! I will have Mom set one up for me and my tired paws.
WE loved that COLORFUL WRAP…
Thanks fur showing us the BUSY RIVER.
Emma as a wrap…hope I don’t end up on a menu!
awwww love your wrap!!!
So cute!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thanks. It was nice and cozy which I liked since the temps are cool these days.
Is that a blanket monster I spy?? Those 10,000 lakes sure are beautiful in the fall.
That would be me a blanket monster!
You look like our granny. BOL your walking adventures were very entertaining
Lily & Edward
What? A granny? I’m only 8!
Lookin’ cute in your wrap! Wooooowoooooooo!
Thank you!
Did I do the whole dog walking thing wrong? UGH!! I thought I had to post about it. π
Is that a real wrap? Or just a GBGV in a blanket? π
We have two blog hops, one for the challenge and giveaway, and now for people to tell us how their challenge week went. I’m just a GBGV in a blanket, although, Mom does like to nibble on me.
We can’t believe you didn’t get a toot!! π It looks like it was an interesting walk with some cool things to see. We’re working on our wrap up post and hope to get it up tomorrow or Saturday.
Awesome! Look forward to reading it!
What a great walk love the paddle boat! Love Dolly
Paddle boats are fun to see.
Too bad the leaves were not as colorful as your mom had hoped. I’m actually heading to that area next week to visit my parents. I hope the leaves are pretty by that time, but I’m worried they will all be gone by then!
Thank you for encouraging everyone to get out and walk more often. You and your sisters are inspiring because you are always so active.
I think another week might be the peak in the Twin Cities, as long as we don’t get too much wind. We love being active at our house, so it is easy to try to get others to be the same.
Oh Emma! I would have tooted my horn at you and “barged” over to welcome you on board! You look so beautiful with the wind blowing your ears. β₯ β₯ Your Basset, Bentley
Don’t you just love feeling wind blowing your ears, Bentley? So nice!
What a lovely place to walk
It was a nice change.
I love those pictures from the river!! π
Thank you.
I love the Halloween collar! Very fashionable!
Thank you. My sisters and I each have a different design for this month being Halloween.
I’ve loved reading about the different walks people have taken this week. A gorge trail in our city just opened up after being closed for repairs the past few years. Maybe Honey and I can check it out before your hop closes.
That sounds like fun. New places or places you haven’t been in a while are always fun!
That’s just the bestest week of posts! We’ve been reading and lurking since our mom has this computer that went deaded almost 3 weeks ago and she refuses to comment on blogs from her phone (*eyeroll* MOMS)
Seriouslies though, since our mom started interval walk/running, she’s taken your advice to heart – different locations all the time keep it fresh! And guess WHAT…??? Last night she & daddy went out and…it RAINED from a CLEAR SKY on them! Our dad the physicist had to stop and figure it out (MOL!))
That is awesome that your mom is out walking! If we can motivate just one, we have achieved something. As for commenting, we hate using our phone for most things and never read blogs with it, so we totally understand that!
The leaves are still green here as well, I don’t know why they’re lagging this year. I haven’t seen barges in person but wow they look huge. It’s been great reading about your adventures this week – it certainly wasn’t boring π
I guess Mom hasn’t really noticed barges before, but they are amazingly long. I’m afraid there won’t be much color because so many leaves are already down. We will see I guess.
What a great wrap up!
Thanks!
Lovely wrap and lovely lake!! Guess it’s starting to get cold for you guys, huh…
We have frost every morning and the water bowl was frozen yesterday.
That looks like a great place to walk!
Minnesota has so many walking trails, it is amazing and wonderful!
I’m glad you enjoyed your walk, it looks an interesting place. That river is very wide!
