One way we stay fit at our house is with our evening chase and wrestle routine. Bailie and I need to go out and play or we get real crabby and sometimes pick fights with each other. Rain or shine, our routine is to go out and race as fast as we can and wrestle when we need a break.
Watch me in our first chase routine. Do you like my “butt twirls”? Mom calls my circular moves “butt twirls”. In the second chase scene, Mom finds it so funny because we always race around the pine trees the same way, day in, day out! Although this isn’t a real fitness routine you would find in a fitness manual, we love it, and it sure wears us out and gets us moving! It is true that sometimes, just having fun will keep you fit! Do your dogs play lots of chase and wrestle too?

oh what FUN!!! LOVE those “butt twirls!!”
I do them all the time and Mom finds them hilarious. Bailie doesn’t do them at all.
Yes!!! my sister and I do the butt twirls!!!! I sure wish we had a yard as big as yours. But we definitely like to run and twirl like you guys. Sometimes I make mom “base” when I need a break and I sit right next to her so my sister will stop for a minute. Mom doesn’t really like that part of the game. My sister just rolls into her!!! Your doodle friend Dash.
LOL! I do the exact same thing and Mom tries to move away but I keep showing up at her feet. She is afraid she is going to get seriously hurt being crashed into!
Pawsome butt twirls there. We are impressed. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
I wonder if butt twirls come from ballet??? I’m so very graceful!
I love the little kiss at the end.
We play rough, fight sometimes, but I do love my little sis π
Love those butt twirls!
Butt twirls are my very own specialty!
how funny! and it was great to watch the two french lightnings in your garden. I would like to run with you… even when my butt twirls are not as cute as yours lol
We are pretty speedy, Mom needs a radar gun to check our speeds! I would love to play chase with you and show off my butt twirls in the fur!
Love the chase and butt twirls…and Katie barking instructions from the porch! Unfortunately, Jack and Maggie don’t play like this, it so fun to watch, I wish they did.
Katie and I used to do the same, but now Katie has switched to supervisor/coach and Bailie and I do the racing.
Love the butt twirls and how you establish you are the alpha dog, Emma. Is that Katie cheering you on? The Boston terriers will sometimes romp and roll with me in the yard. Sometimes I zoon solo. in the house I always want to play tug with either the Bostons or the mom. I also play fetch with mom. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I am definitely top dog in the house and I make sure everyone knows too. Katie is the supervisor, barking orders at us as we play.
you two look like you were having the bet time….this is exactly the reason why we think dogs should always be in pairs…so they can have fun playing
Katie and I used to do the same thing, but now that Katie can’t keep up, Bailie has taken her place π It is wonderful having a playmate.
We have the same thing here. When we get done with dinner, Torrey has to go and have her outside time. Either a walk, or a good game of fetch with the frisbee. Roxy likes to run around and chase too.
Nothing can replace the chase game, and we demand it too. It is hard when we travel because we can’t do that.
So much fun! =D Our house sits in the middle of the yard, so the doggies can run around it. Sometimes when we go out to play they’ll chase each other and play hide and seek behind the trees, furniture, and stuff. If I’m walking around the house they do several laps before the one chasing catches the leader. LOL!
Oh, that sounds like fun. Do they get dizzy running in a circle? Usually I chase Bailie, but sometimes she chases me. We always end up catching and tackling the leader.
BOL those are some good chases
Lily & Edward
We love the speed!
Good moves! Mauja and Atka have a very similar evening routine. We call it ‘zoomies’. They wrestle and chase for about 10 minutes and then they pass out for the evening π
We’re wired up when we come in, but Mom sits us down to brush our teeth and then we just crash! Sleeping with a smile.
Look at you two go! What fun
We love high speed!
Gotta love butt twirls!!! Great video!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I’m the only one in my family that can “butt twirl”, and I am darn good at it too!
Love the video! Looks like a fun time.
It is hard for Mom to capture us since we use the entire yard for the chase and we are so fast, but it worked fairly well using her phone this time.
Ohhhh, that looks like SO much fun!!!
It is a blast!
We love the butt twirls move!!!
I wonder if kitties could do them?
Your BUTT TWIRLS and the Cut behind the tree Move are SUPER.
I used to do the cut behind the tree move when Katie and I played chase. Now Bailie has taken it over. We do it all the time.
Mr. N likes to play chase with Sage and sometimes they’ll even wrestle which is hilarious to watch.
I bet they have a ton of fun and Sage is careful not to squash Mr. N.
Hi Y’all!
The most important part of fitness is not what you do, but to enjoy doing it! Keep movin’!
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
You are right. I guess that is why humans that love their job never quit too.
Emma~ First off, I was going to compliment you on the spins! I also use my head to flip Pierre and hold him down. He cheats and pulls my ears. We race like Greyhounds (in our mind’s eye) around the yard. I noticed Bailie trying to give you huggles during the one-on-one! I’m proud to see that you didn’t fall for it. β₯ XXOo Your Basset, Bentley
Bailie used to use my ears like handles when she was really young which I did not appreciate. Now we just wrestle and chase, but I let her know I’m the boss, even if she tries a huggle on me!
You definitely have some moves!!
I’ve been working on them all my GBGV life π
Your butt twirls are adorable, Emma! You and Bailie look like you were having fun! Now that we’ve moved back home, Petal is getting evening play time outside with her cousin Penny and sometimes her new cousin Leopold. But Petal avoids him more than plays with him, he’s the new kid so he’s still learning how not to play with Petal. π
It was so fun to see you guys running around and wrestling! Also, you have a very neat bark, Emma! I like it. π
The barking was actually my big sis Katie, I was the one doing the hunting calls during the chase sessions. I bet Petal enjoys having some friends to hang out with.
Our morning routine is to run and wrestle in the yard. There is often energy for it after a walk too though I sometimes think those playtimes are more let-loose-after-being-forced-to-behave type of sessions. In the evening we play inside because there is often too much barking at the waking nocturnal city critters when outside.
We do get loud when it is dark out, but then we have to come back inside. After our morning walks we just want to rush inside and get to our breakfast and then a nice nap.
Its great having a sister to play chase and wrestle with! So far Rhette is not interested in any chasing, sigh. Love Dolly
I bet if you chased, Rhette would run. Just keep your nose and eyes away from his claws as they can be painful…I know, trust me!
Love your butt twirls, Emma! You’re so graceful!
We couldn’t find a ballet class for dogs, so I decided to find my own ballet moves and came up with the “butt twirl”.
We love wrestling and chasing each other around our yard every day too. It is so much fun.
Millie & Walter
It is the most fun we think! Katie and I used to do the same thing!
What fun, and a great way to end your day! Usually when we’re playing fetch, Cricket is very serious about getting the ball, but Luke and Sheba are just running around having fun chasing each other half the time.
None of us play fetch, so it is chase and wrestle, or nothing π
You have a great evening routine. Love that photo of you!
Thank you. I bet your pups get some good chase games going too sometimes.
Who knew exercise could be so fun? Love your evening routine, friends! Much love, The Scottie Mom.
Chase and wrestle is the best!
what fun!! That’s the kind of exercise we love!
It’s our favorite.
You two look so happy, and the video made me smile. It’s so cute how you are chasing, wrestling, racing and play fighting. And I love the butt twirls! π
We have a lot of fun with chase and wrestle in our yard!
I did like the twirls!
I’ve been working on perfecting those twirls my entire life!
It looks like you have lots of fun together! I love playing chase and I love a game of football most evenings.
Katie used to enjoy a game of soccer, but she can’t play that anymore. She also joined me for chase and wrestle up until a couple years ago.
