I was dreaming of our former pumpkin patch. For years we went to a great pumpkin patch that was deserted during weekdays. We always had fun and took lots of photos. This year, our special spot has sadly become a housing development. A few years ago there were numerous pumpkin patches within a couple miles of our house but they are all covered in homes now. There are still lots of fields by our house but they are all planted with corn. This year it has been a challenge for us to find a new pumpkin patch.
After driving all over creation and asking people where we could find a pumpkin patch, we ended up going to an apple orchard that also had pumpkins, and was dog friendly. We pulled in on a weekday right when it opened and the parking lot was already full of school buses! We were hoping it would be deserted, but it was not. The building wasn’t real inviting either.
All the workers were busy with the school groups, so there was no one for us to ask questions to. We decided to wander around in search of the pumpkin patch on our own. We did not find one, but we did find a bunch of pumpkins on the grass. Mom was not real thrilled with this place, but we were here and we were going to do some photos. There were mini humans all over the place and they were all off leash too! Mom is not a fan of mini humans because they distract us when we are supposed to be posing for photos and most parents don’t watch their little ones, so Mom has to make sure they don’t step on us or run into us because if we jump on them we would be in trouble.
We did find the good witch in the midst of the pumpkins.
This cute little witch definitely detected a scent of witches brew in the fall air!
I was wearing my new spider Halloween headgear, and we found this pumpkin stand that matched my headgear perfectly!
Little Bailie was just chilling out, enjoying the pumpkins.
My little sister is all nose! She is always sniffing stuff. I thought I was a scent hound, but I’m nothing compared to her. Her nose is non stop!
I was real concerned about all those mini humans running around. It seemed to be up to me to always keep them in sight to make sure they didn’t get too close.
We call this a failure. I’m working with Mom to find a better spot because this is just not what we were looking for. We sure miss our old pumpkin patch!
I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.
Where’s Charlie Brown and his great pumpkin when you need him? Many of the pumpkin patches near us turned into housing developments, too. That’s sad. But I think your pictures are adorable, so I wouldn’t call it a failure.
Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats.
It wasn’t a complete failure as they did have pumpkins, but we sure miss our old spot!
Love your hats!!
I think because I am a UK dog originally, I have a thing for hats and I ask my sisters to wear them too sometimes.
Sorry that you miss your old pumpkin patch but your sure look swell and very cute. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
That old patch was so nice. At least we found pumpkins.
What a lot of pumpkins. I would sure like to be there with you 🙂
They had quite a few, but nothing like out old place had.
It’s so sad that your favorite pumpkin patch is gone, and that even more are being replaced with housing developments. I think you still got some good photos, in spite of all the distractions!
Homes are going up like crazy all over around here. All the farms are selling out to builders.
Y’all gonna do a little punkin’ chunkin’?
We’ll just set them around so they look festive at our house. Cat bro Bert enjoys chewing on the stems.
those shrunken humans ruin all our fun – we don’t like them either with all the noise and squealing they make. Sad you couldn’t find a good pumpkin patch
Those mini humans are so wild and get us all excited but then we get in trouble and they don’t. Not fair. At least we found pumpkins.
That’s really disappointing for you guys! We can’t seem to find a pumpkin patch either. We did go to an apple orchard on Saturday 45 minutes southwest of the Cities and had a pretty good time- and there was enough space on the property to get away from those off-leash tiny Mailmen! Hopefully you can find a fun place where you can make great new memories for next time. You guys look fantastic with the pumpkins though- great photos! 🙂

Usually we see pumpkin patches all over, but not this year. Glad you had fun at the apple orchard. We found that part real boring at this place. We will keep searching!
Ok – back to my last point. We need a hoiliday card series. I love these photos. This was not a failure. These pictures are fabulous. I love Emma hat. Katie looks wonderful.
Mom and I would love to do a card series, but we have no clue how to go about it! We did get some nice shots, but it was so much more fun and relaxed at the old place where we could just be alone and take our time without worrying about all the people around.
Awwwwww, we love your hats!!! So adorable and you look so well behaved!!
We love doing photos, so we sit pretty well.
I bet all those mini humans were distracting. They probably need leashes too, but that would be a lot for the teacher to hold on to, of course… Your photos are awesome! You’re all so cute in your hats! =D
Lots of the smallest humans were just with moms, so they could have been leashed 😉
I hope you find another special pumpkin patch, but in the meantime, I love the photos you got at this one!
We are continuing our search and at the latest, hope to find a better spot for next year.
You have not failed, you have just succeeded at finding 10,000(ish) pumpkins that do not work. Still managed to grab some fun photos too.
We got some photos, but it was so much nicer being in an actual patch with no distractions.
Small humans on a school bus is scarier than Halloween! We are waiting for clear weather to go visit the pumpkins. I’m sure you three were the best behaved. BOL!
Try several buses and moms with kids, it was worse than being in a daycare, but we found pumpkins at least.
You 3 little pumpkins just look adorable. The mom says Bailie could share the jester/dunce hat with me – whatever that means. The pumpkin patches in my town are at churches according to the mom. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
We used to be out in the fields and that was so much better. Hopefully by next year we will find a field again. Bailie does need a dunce cap quite often as she is always into something she shouldn’t be.
Wow look at those super pumkins, I hope Mama gets me one. Missed you guys but we have followed you on FB 🙂 xxoxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
You all have been gone for a long time on the blog scene, but I have seen you sniffin’ around my FB page.
I’m with you, little bipeds unleashed can be dangerous :o) Bailie is porbably a super scent hound, hahaha. or maybe there was something inside of that pumpkin? probably cinderellas shoe what she lost as the carriage turned into a pumpkin?
Most likely some tasty poop or something, but she licked all the pumpkins she could!
The Good Witch is mighty pretty. I’m not so sure this was a failure. You all look pretty good in your pictures!! We always have to be careful with the little humans too- I think they want to play when they do all that screaming and hopping. But then Mom says “no, no” to us. So we stay with mom and don’t hop on the little humans. Hope you have a great week. Your doodle friend, Dash
We got some photos, but it was more of a project this year, it used to be more fun. Maybe we will find one for next year.
Love those Halloween hats, especially that pawsome orange spider!
We got some new head gear for ourselves this year!
we have to always been on guard against mini-humans too. They run amok and grab a dog’s ears and it’s just poor manners that a poodle can’t stand. Grrr. They need leashes or training too. I love all the pics as usual but the one with her nose to the ground is pawsome.
Leeanna and Cole at not afraid of color lapaylor.blogspot.com
Bailie always has her nose on the ground! Mom thinks the black color will wear off one of these days, she is a true scent hound!
Your hats are totally awesome! We know you will find that pumpkin patch! Keep looking!
You would think we could at least sniff one out!
We’ve been looking for a dog friendly orchard or pumpkin patch around here, too, but so far, no luck. There are several orchards around, but so far, none that will allow dogs.
Come this way! We have several orchards that are dog friendly, but we aren’t interested in that right now.
I wish you could come to our pumpkin patch Emma, you and Harley would have the best time. Their pumpkins this year are huge and the place is super pet friendly.
That would be great, but it is a long walk from home 😉 We will keep searching here.
Oh so cute!!!! I had to pin some of your pics!!!!
Thank you! It wasn’t easy, but we got some good pics at least.
So cute you dressed up!
A dog has to be dressed right for the occasion!
We are not in favor of having little peeps… OFF LEASH…
BUTT you certainly made the Most of this Pumpkin Patch trip…
I think they are more dangerous off leash than most dogs we know, but humans seem to make these silly rules!
Are you aware that you have a spider on your head?? EEEEK! BOL!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
What? Where? Yikes, I better run!
You certainly work well with what you had, very nice. I love the pictures and hats.
Thank you. We did our best.
Well, even if da pumpkin patch weren’t dat great, y’all look cute!
At least we found pumpkins!
Off leash mini humans yikes! I think your mom made the best of the place and the photos are great. Its better than not doing anything I’m sure! Love Dolly
It was okay. We are spoiled from our former pumpkin patch because it was private and wonderful.
Sorry about the mini humans ruining your fun! We try to steer clear of them too! Your mom still managed to get some pawesome pics! We wouldn’t have known there was a mini human invasion!
We worked really hard to keep the mini ones out of our photos!
I was planning on taking Mr. N to a corn maze but apparently they’re not allowing dogs this year. I feel your pain, Emma!
It sure can be frustrating, can’t it? Mom wanted to do a corn maze the right way on the first try and then see if Bailie would track her through, but there was way too much going on to try it.
Oh so sorry you lost your old pumpkin patch and that this one was a bust. I do think you got some great photos and that spider head piece is awesome.
Thank you. The old one was so nice because we were alone there during the weekdays and could just enjoy ourselves and take photos without all the craziness that was going on at this place.
You guys made a great job of a not so great pumpkin patch!! Love your pics, especially given all your distractions!
I hope you’re having a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Thank you. We hope to find another nice patch at some point.
Allie’s the only one who doesn’t mind mini humans in our fambly. We boyz think they’re kinda SKEERY! Which, honestly, kinda fits with Halloween, once you think about it….
My cat bro Bert loves kids because they play with him, but he is more like a dog than a cat!
This story made my Momma sad to read. Nice places like your old pumpkin patch too often disappear to things like housing developments and shopping centers. Housing is a bit understandable, thought here are plenty of older houses out there that are vacant and just waiting for a new family to come into and make it a warm place again. And shopping centers…how many Walmarts are really needed? It breaks Momma’s heart.
We are sorry about your old patch, and sorry about about this wanna-be pumpkin patch you found. Hopefully with a little more research you can find something more suitable for visiting and having fun in.
It is sad when we think about moving into our house 7 yrs ago, it was surrounded by fields and now they are almost all neighborhoods. At some point, they need to keep some farms so we can get food and stuff. We will keep searching and hope to find a pumpkin patch somewhere.
I wouldn’t call it a failure, it’s just different. It stinks when our favorite places change. 🙁 I think the pictures turned out great. It looks like fun to hang out amongst the pumpkins. We are prepping for our own pumpkin patch photo shoot. I understand what you mean about the small people. It’s hard enough for me to get good shots without my own small people jumping into the photos!
We don’t mind change in general, but since we don’t have a replacement for that great pumpkin patch, it is a real bummer.
Our mom isn’t a fan of little humans being “off leas” around us either.
Most dogs are better behaved than those mini humans.
Its too bad you didn’t find what you were looking for. We don’t have many pumpkin patches close by either.
It’s hard to accept since there used to be several and now none.
You managed to take some good photos, even with all the distractions!
We did, but instead of being lots of fun, it was more stressful.
I just love these photos! Beautiful and fun 🙂
Thank you. We love to bake 🙂
