After my pumpkin disaster last week, I decided to get some canned pumpkin and bake up some yummy Halloween Pumpkin Apple Cookies for my sisters and I. This time of year is all about pumpkins and apples, so these Halloween cookies fit right in! My baking assistant, Bailie, was happy to lend a helping paw with the task as well. She is still learning but she comes in handy for many things.
I got all the ingredients together in my mixing bowl. There are only a few things in these healthy cookies, so they are real easy to make.
Things were moving along real well, and then the sassy teenager in Bailie appeared. She was determined to bark some orders at me. I can tell you right now, I’m not taking any lip from her!
I got right back in her face and let her know she needs to show me some respect. I told her, if she would like to continue helping out, she better mellow down.
Little Bailie seemed to get my drift and proceeded to cut the cookies out as I had instructed.
After Bailie had cut a few out she checked to make sure they were placed correctly on the baking sheet.
Once all the cookies were on the baking sheets, I returned to the kitchen from my nap to check on Bailie’s work. I have a feeling she may have eaten some of the dough, but I couldn’t prove it and we still had plenty of cookies so I didn’t howl about it.
The Halloween cookies looked great, and were ready to go into the oven.
I went back to my napping while Bailie kept an eye on the cookies and cleaned up the kitchen.
When the cookies were baked and cooled, we took them outside to give them a taste! Boy they are pawsome! Katie, Bailie, and I all wanted to eat them all in one sitting! If you would like the recipe for Halloween Pumpkin Apple Cookies, click here for a PDF you can download.
Bailie and I are baking tasty Halloween Cookies, so Iβm joining the Tasty Tuesday blog hop sponsored by Kolβs Notes and Sugar the Golden Retriever. If you are looking for tasty ideas, take a look at what other dogs are baking and eating!
Wow! You guys have a lot of patience- did I mention you must be a pro at the cut-outs? I’m not so sure my big bear paws could do all the wonderful cooking you guys brew up at your place! π Looks yummy!
Well, I’ve been baking for a few years now and I started Bailie in the kitchen right away, so we have lots of practice. Baking is really a self rewarding behavior, so it is easy to learn π
BOL!!! You two should have your own cooking show! The team work seems to be working pretty well! BOL!
As long as Bailie doesn’t get too bossy it works pretty well.
Pawsome! The cookies look yummy. The mom thinks it is great that you nap while Bailie cleans up, but being the baby, I am not sure like that idea. Great pawtraits of you and Bailie, XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Bailie is such an energy bundle, she doesn’t mind being kept busy. As long as she doesn’t eat all the cookies while I’m snoozing, things are good.
For some reason today my mom laughed when she read your post and said “Emma’s mom must say: ‘Girls!!’ a lot” She said her mom said that a lot when she was growing up with her sisters. Mom is the baby sister so she says she thinks Bailie is just terrific. Good job Emma! your doodle friend, Dash
Mom does call us her girls…girls knock it off, girls come here, always girls π
BOL – that’s telling her, Emma! Definitely saving the recipe π
She is really into that terrible teenage phase. She has to get back to being respectful. At least we managed to get our cookies made.
It’s getting harder to tell you and Emma apart in pictures you guys are paw some. Glad that Katie got some.
Katie has no interest in baking, but she is always Johnny on the spot for the eating part! That’s okay at her age we don’t mind.
Oh boy could we hire you as our personal chef
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Always love seeing you in the kitchen Emma and yes it is your kitchen. You are the boss or should we say top chef. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
Youngsters need to respect those that are a bit older, and sometimes these days, Bailie forgets that. I’m the boss around here!
Sure, but I always have to at least sample what I cook/bake! I may need to bring my assistant along as well.
Did someone say cookies? I heard cookies!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Super tasty cookies!
I remember when Bailie wasn’t allowed anywhere near your awesome cooking adventures, it seems like your little line chef is growing up a bit. Many paws make light work.
Since she is the assistant, I let her do the stuff I don’t like doing like cleaning up, the tedious job of cutting all the cookies out, etc. She is pretty good as long as she doesn’t get sassy.
Such great pictures. Looks like you had a fun time baking! – Petnet(io)
I love to bake and Bailie is getting better all the time under my watchful training program.
It looks like you guys had a great time! I never get to help π
We adore baking, self rewarding behavior, you know.
You really get the yummy going!!!
We love to π Cat bro Bert was in the mix as well, but he wasn’t supposed to be. I guess he enjoys pumpkin too.
Bailey looks furry innocent and too cuuuwooowooooote to have eaten some dough! WOL!
She does that innocent thing pretty well.
Bwwaaahhhhh!!!! The pic of Bailie barking made me laugh out loud….beyond perfect!!!! Emma, you showed her who is boss!!!! Your cookies look delish!!!!
She is really into that teenager naughtiness these days. At least we managed to get the cookies finished and they taste pawsome.
That Bailie sure can be sassy sometimes can’t she…but she still makes a pretty good sous chef I think.
Mom and I just have to remind her she isn’t the boss, and then she will do what she is supposed to do.
OMD we do love us some PUMPKIN and APPLES… so baked TOGETHER in a COOKIE must be FABULOUS…
We are munching our way through those cookies pretty quickly…plus they are good for us too!
those sure do sound good
Good and easy to make!
YUM! Emma, those look so good. I think you are a talented baker!
Thank you. I think I’m pretty good too. My sisters and I love the stuff I bake.
We really think that you should be on TV!!! You do an excellent job of cooking in the kitchen and you look good doing it!! We must try these!! xo Chloe and LadyBug
I’m waiting for Hollywood to give me a ring, but so far no calls π
How fun! Love the photos– looks like a pawsome time!
Thank you. I enjoy baking and my apprentice is getting better all the time too.
I’m going to ask Mom to buy some wheat flour and pumpkin at the store today. Pierre and I need to try our paws at baking. I won’t tolerate any yippy remarks either. Pups! XXOO, Bentley
Oh boy! Two boys in the kitchen! Can’t wait to hear how it works out. If you were closer I would bake for you!
I always have the best intentions, but if I’m truthful, I don’t roll out dough for pie, so I’m probably not rolling it out for dog treats. BOL
They look good though, great job!
I’ll be honest with you…Mom is a major failure at pie crust. She has to buy the already made ones. Rolling out our cookies is real easy.
ooooh baking with teenagers… that’s a challenge. I wonder that she really cleaned the kitchen, that’s a good sign that their teenage-time is over soon :o) thanks for your wonderful photos, I always watch them again&again :o)
Glad you enjoy our photos. I know Bailie enjoys cleaning because it involves getting all the left over dough and stuff off the counter and baking equipment and she loves to eat!
Emma, those look super tasty. Tell your mom that I don’t bake cookies very well and ask her if she would put a couple in the mail for Harley!
I wish all my friends lived closer so I could bake for everyone and deliver the cookies personally!
THE ONLY THING BETTER THAN COOKIES IS MAKING THEM WITH YOUR BFFF.
WE JUST LOVE YOUR PHOTOS..
hUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
Thank you! Baking is definitely more fun if you are not doing it alone!
That photo with you putting Bailie in her place for giving lip is priceless, Emma! These cookies sound great….we’re all about the pumpkin and apples here too so will definitely have to try these.
Some dog has to teach that pup to respect others! Luke has his teenage time coming right up, so look out! These cookies are super easy and real tasty.
Glad Bailie mellowed for you and helped you out! π You two did a great job, those cookies yummy! Thanks for sharing your recipe. π
Sharing is what we do around here! They are super easy and yummy!
Emma, do you take apprentices? I would love for my doggies to bake, but they say they want me to do it for them. I’ve been telling them that you cook and bake, but they don’t believe me. lol
Tell them it is a self rewarding behavior and that might sway them in the right direction! It is easy and fun.
I’m sure they could do it, if they just put a little heart into it π
Or maybe a little “paw into it”.
Wowee you get cookie jar access? I clearly need to up my privileges!
I see Bailie and I have the same thinking…must guard the cookies!
Bailie thinks the best way to guard is to eat which can result in trouble!
Those look tasty!
Emma, you are doing a great job teaching Bailey. We like apples and pumpkin and cookies, so we are SURE we would TRIPLE love these cookies! Chablis & Lucy
p.s. can you sneak some to us in the mail. Mom put us both on a diet, and if she found them SHE would probably eat them. She has to taste all our treats.
Well, humans can eat them, but they probably aren’t sweet enough for your mom. That diet thing is a four letter word we don’t use around our house π
You both look cute in the kitchen cooking and I’m sure doing a good job. Those little sisters and brothers can get snippy with remarks. And have to be reminded you can’t help if you aren’t going to do the job I asked !!
You would surely understand with Aspen in the house!
Mom can’t believe you guys get to cook in the kitchen! But the look really yummy. Love Dolly
What a silly thing to say! Where else would one cook? The garage? We are civilized dogs…well, at least I am.
You gals are the best cooks and have so much fun making yummy stuff.
Baking is right up there after wabbits and squirrels for favorite activities.
Those look super yummy. Bailie did a good job cutting them out.
She is a pretty good apprentice, and learns fast.
They sure look good! I’m surprised you trusted Bailie with that dough, but it’s good if you can leave her to do some of the work while you nap!
She knew I would be counting the cookies and probable beat her up if she ate the dough, so it was all good.
These pics make my life, the recipe looks great too! As, human me, grew up the youngest of three girls, I heard “GIRLS!” a lot too! Now our 3 pooches are the next generation “girls,” happy baking ladies!
Mom calls the three of us pup her girls all the time. She never had a sister and always wanted one, so she loves us having sisters, and we love baking!
