It is that time of year where being elves is hard work! Bailie and I are the elves around our house and we got our first assignment the other day. Mom asked us to get the planters for the front porch put together. Of course, Bailie and I complied with the request and went to the garage to get started on the project.
I have done this work the past few years, so I’m pretty good at it. I know how to sort out the stuff and stick it in the planters.
Bailie wasn’t so sure about the whole thing and was considering sneaking out of the garage to do something else. I reminded her elves can’t just quit. We have to finish our work.
I got mine finished first and thought it came out pretty good.
Bailie finished up her pot too. She was not real thrilled. Teenagers sure don’t have a good work ethic. All she wants to do is have fun, but we elves have to pitch in sometimes and help out Mom.
Ta Dah!!! Here we are with our finished planters on the front porch, even a dusting of snow to make things look more festive! I think we did a darn good job! These things even smell nice, like Christmas I would say!
We got our first Christmas gift from the Mom unit last weekend. She found these adorable bone stockings on Pinterest and just had to order them for “her girls”. She got one for each of us in our “signature” color. They come from Christmas Claud on Etsy, and if you are a kitty, they make them in fish shape too, but Mom only got the dog ones (I think because cat bro Bert has been especially rotten this year). We have them hanging up above the fireplace all ready for Santa. Thanks, Mom!
Today I also graciously accept the Liebster Award from Heart Like A Dog! Thank you! I need to answer ten questions Jodi asked, so here it goes (sometimes I feel like these were meant for a human, but I will try my best to answer them):
- How long have you been blogging? three years
- Have your reasons for blogging changed since you first started blogging? yes, at first it was all fun, no real plan other than to try to promote the GBGV breed, but it has evolved into a real job really, promoting fun, health, fitness, and of course, the GBGV. I love fun photos and stories and bringing smiles and laughter to my readers.
- Is your blog for fun or are you looking for something more? Β If the latter what? I wish it was a full time paying job, but it is a full time hobby with benefits. I do it mainly because I love it and that is the most important thing. If I don’t enjoy it, I would quit.
- How do you judge how well your blogging is going? Sometimes the stats, but readers comments are important to me. I love to hear what readers think about what I’m posting. Sometimes I get emails or messages from readers about how I’ve helped them and that really warms my furry heart
- What do you like to do when you arenβt blogging? I do a lot of napping, walking, chasing squirrels and wabbits, my neighborhood watch program, stuff like that.
- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I’m pretty happy where I am. I did like Germany because dogs can go so many places, but Mom didn’t like living there too much.
- If you could talk to any one person, living or dead, who would it be? I would like to see my dog mom again and see what she is up to and tell her about my amazing life so far.
- What is your favorite meal? I love my Merrick food, but Jones Wabbit Jerky is probably my favorite snack.
- How do you define success in your life? By how much attention I get and how many wabbits I catch.
- What accomplishment are you most proud of? I got my CGC title last summer without even practicing or taking the class, and I’m real proud of my nose work, can’t wait to get the change again to get my title.
Today Iβm joining the Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like a Dog! Join up and share in the fun, or just visit a few new blogs!
I think you are also winners cause you always try and help Mom. Beautiful planters!
We love to have our paws in the thick of things.
You guys did a fantastic job on those pots! Lookin good!
Thank you. We are happy with our work.
Your decorations are just fabulous. Really lovely. Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Thanks, Molly. Happy Thursday!
we love your planter pots – we might jut have to borrow that idea !
Go for it. Have your mom get the spruce tips, then go to Hobby Lobby and Michaels for decorative items and then you boys can put them together!
Emma! Ya gotta be nice to Bailie…yep, she is just a teenager (like me) and a girl just wants to have fun. Remember how great she is a nose work? I understand Bailie, and my mom says she (Baillie) is so much better than me. We like your floral artistry, The mom wonders why the dry wall is not finished behind you in the garage. She, um, backed into the garage door once and it was not open. Ouch, but that was before my time. Love your stockings. I have a PBGV Christmas stocking. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
The garage is sheetrocked, but it isn’t painted because mom doesn’t care much about the garage. Bailie is just short on patience sometimes, but she is learning! I bet your PBGV stocking is nice. How is your brother. Mom told me about him from fb yesterday.
Panda is hanging in there. He let the doc mash and push on his growth and he did not even whimper. It is possibly an ear canal problem. There is a major BIG nerve that runs through that exact part of his head. Might be a growth, might be an infection. He is on an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic. We are going to make an appointment with a specialist. Being a typical Boston, he has slept cuddled up against the mom UNDER the blanket every single night since he was bug enough to sleep in her bed. He was born in her bedroom. I sleep beside her on the other side, on TOP of the blanket. Mom has a very special bond with her “little man.” It is going to be real messy when he leaves up…
Oh, we sure hope they can find the cause and fix it. Mom understands that bond thing. Each pet has their own type of bond with her, some are stronger than others. Paw prayers for Panda.
Your planters look great – nice job Emma. I bet Bailie does a better job next year!
Last year she really was too little to help much, this year she had other things she wanted to do, but she got hers done. She will get better every year.
Those turned out so cute! Bailie however, does not look thriled.
Still a bit too young to appreciate things like nice planters, but she will catch on.
Ok, every time I come here you pups are wearing adorable hats or outfits, but THESE top it! You make the best little elves I ever saw!!! BOL! I just love the ears on the one!
You did a wonderful job at helping decorate, and your stockings are paw-fect!!!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thank you! I was born in the UK, so I am a dog that loves hats, just like the queen π
Great job with your decorating. We haven’t done any Christmas stuff yet. Our foster puppy would make Bailie look like a professional elf in comparison.
And I loved reading your answers to the questions. Especially calling blogging your full time hobby with benefits. That’s a great description. π
Thank you. Mom says I have taken over her life, but she doesn’t mind. We have all our decorations up, but have to keep an eye on Bailie and cat bro Bert.
Those planters look great. Good job, and very Christmasy photos! =D You two are the cutest elves ever!
We hope Santa recognizes our goodness in a couple weeks π
Well done elves! you are both awful cute and your planters are VERY nice! We have one naughty elf (Lucy) and one nice elf (ME -Chablis) at our house. Lucy is chewing up every plastic pointsetta she can reach, and yesterday she also grabbed the fake snow blanket and was running around the house with it tearing it up while Mom and I were trying to hand wreaths. I think Lucy is in her second puppy hood, or else she is getting senile. Her behavior has given us a new meaning to her diagnosis of SEIZ-ure. In our house, it now means seize- HER. She is destroying everything she can reach.
Your friend, Chablis
Bailie took the arm off the snowman in the living room and we trying to get his nose before she was apprehended! Some dogs just don’t know how to be good I guess.
Great job on your Christmas planters! You are setting a great example for Bailie, and I’m sure when she gets out of those teenage years she’ll be a hard worker just like you, Emma.
She just doesn’t value hard work yet unless it has to do with tracking. She will grow up, we hope!
well done! it looks great :o) and it’s not easy to work with a teenager…maybe it goes better if you play wild music? Congrats to your award, it’s a good idea to promote your breed, you are the best french invention ever and all peeps&pets in France love your breed. … maybe except the wabbits LOL
I don’t think wabbits like us anywhere in the world, but we don’t mind. Must be nice seeing more of us in France. We never see ourselves over here.
Wait, this is too good. You two are elves and Katie makes the perfect Santa! Now we just need you guys to remake the movie Elf, with Bailie taking the place of Will Ferrell.
Great idea! Can you come over and do the video, Mom stinks at video taking and editing!
Oh Emma, we love your planters! They are so pretty and very festive. What a great idea!
Oz
Thank you. Just send your mom to the store for the supplies and then you can make some too.
Oh no, you gave mom ideas. She loves your planters and that you all are elves … so now she wants us to get to work. Wish us luck. You all look really cute in your hats! your doodle friend, Dash
Remind your mom that elves need treats after hard work. Lots of treats! π
Emma – both you and Bailey are so creative! Wish you could come help me – Harley could care less about these sorts of things!
I think it is the feminine touch, and being all girls with the exception of cat bro Bert, we have plenty of feminine touch π
I’ll bet Santa wishes his elves were as cute as you!
We are trying to stay on his good side.
Great job, girls! Love how your Christmas pots turned out and also love your new dog bone stockings. So cute π
Thank you. We are pretty happy with the Christmas preparations so far too.
Nice work ladies!
Thank you!
You two make for very cute elves!! I agree with you that Bailie looks less than thrilled about it!! <3
She needs to develop a good work ethic. Hopefully it will come in time.
WE love your planters… Very WELCOMING. AND your Signature Colored Bone Stockings are GRRRREAT…
Congratulations on the LEIBSTER Award… and your answers were T-Riffic.
Thank you boys. Our pad is starting to look quite festive!
You’re right, you do have a bit of concrete in your post today. ‘-) But your front porch picture came out far better than mine did. Thanks for joining the blog hop and for answering my nosey questions. It’s so interesting to me to learn more about others.
Being hounds we didn’t mind the nosy stuff π Concrete is all in what you make of it, try to draw the eye away from it would be my photographers tip but she is just an amateur.
So adorable! You are the cutest elves I’ve ever seen! Looks like you did a really nice job with those decorations.
I also enjoyed your questionnaire at the end. It’s always fun getting to know the dog behind the blog a little more.
I will howl to that! We think the decorations look pretty good for being created with only our bare paws.
You did a fabulous job on the planters. I helped with the Christmas tree and gave it a good sniffing. My mom built it and it is not real. We did not do all the outside stuff this year. Congratulations on your Liebster. I thought your answers were perfect. I hope those stockings are big enough! XXOO Bentley
We don’t have a real tree anymore either because Mom says it is too much work and too messy. Our only outside deco is the planters and wreath. I think the stockings will be the right size because we are hoping for packages under the tree too.
Allie: Teenagers and work ethics – I feel your pain! Still, the end result looks beautiful!
Thanks…it is painful at times with teens!
Congrats on the Liebster! I really enjoyed reading your answers. Any tips for catching wabbits? I definitely cracked up on the “Bailie was not real thrilled” note; the picture is perfect with her expression! BOL!
I catch wabbits all the time and Mom is always amazed. I just race out, grab them, break their neck, bring them back to Mom and go on my way. For me they are real easy. It always makes Mom sad, though, and I don’t understand that.
I wish I had your gift!
It’s nothing a little imagination and paw practice can’t accomplish π
Love the way your planters came out. It looks like you are already for Christmas. Congrats on your award. I have to get on that. π Thanks so much for joining the hop!
Thanks. We are pretty much ready for Christmas around here.
Wow..you both did a wonderful job with your Christmas pots!!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
I worked hard on mine, Bailie hardly worked, but I like how they came out.
More like elves at fun but good job! Did you do these before you went to stay in the pool cage? Love Dolly
No, we did them when we got back right before Thanksgiving. Actually bought some of the decorations as Hobby Lobby in Florida.
You gals did a fabulous job with your decorations. I love them and the photos. Really cool to read your answers to Jodi’s questions and congrats on your award. I got one too and have to get my questions answered.
For once, I was on top of it and got it done before it was buried in my to do pile!
