Every year in December I like to participate in some fun blogging events for the holidays, after all Christmas is the time for giving. This year, I have several fun giveaways, and I also joined the Pet Blogger Gift Exchange. There are no actual gifts being exchanged, it is just bloggers being paired with another blogger to get to know someone new. My friend Honey’s mom over at Something Wagging This Way Comes is the brains behind the idea! If you don’t know Honey and her mom’s blog, you should take a read as it is always funny and you should know by now, I enjoy funny!
I got my paired blogger in my email the other day and guess what? Yep, I’m paired up with a whole herd of cats at Random Felines! Oh my. What should I do? I know a lot about cats having lived with them my whole life, but this project may be too much for a dog!
The site I’m paired with this year is Random Felines. I am totally new to this blog, which is really what the heart of the Pet Blogger’s Gift Exchange pairing is about. Random Felines is a blog all about cats, six cats live at this house, and they also foster cats and kittens. I didn’t find any trace of a dog in the blog, which is probably a good thing. I have trouble living with only two cats!
Lucky for me, cat bro Bert offered to help me with this cat task. Personally, I think it is a last ditch effort on his part to make it on Santa Paw’s Nice List. By the way, feel free to also let Bert know that he is looking chubby. We just can’t keep him slim, it is terrible! Anyway, he was quite interested in this blog and wanted to find out all about the cats.
I caught Bert a bit later in his favorite chair with the website pulled up on the Ipad. He thought all the kitten photos were especially cute. Bert loves that there is only one girl in the family. He lives with a bunch of girls and says it is really difficult, so he is jealous of Junior, Mozart, Tim, Tom, and Spud! Because Bert and Sophie were both adopted as adult cats from the Humane Society, he feels a special bond with this blog and their rescue/foster work. The human from Random Felines started working with animal rescue as a volunteer in 2000, and in 2006 started working with fostering cats and kittens. We don’t know a whole lot about animal rescue for cats or dogs, but if you want to learn about it, specifically for cats, this blog is quite informative. The kitten photos bring smiles, many of the stories do as well, but there are some sad tales as is to be expected with rescue work. There is a tab for Bourbon’s story which is really a good read! If you are at all interested in cats, I would suggest you stop by and give these kitties a meow. You can also follow Random Felines on Facebook and Twitter.
Thanks again to Honey and her mom for arranging this Pet Blogger Gift Exchange so we can branch out and find some new and interesting blogs!
oh my – we would wanting to be chasing all those cats up the nearest tree !
We aren’t allowed to chase kitties, just squirrels and wabbits. We do wrestle with our kitties, though.
It is always nice to meet new blogging friends.
There are so many blogs we have no idea about, so it’s a good way to find some of those.
Very cool idea but cats!
It seems like lots of my dog friends are paired with cats…luckily I have Bert to help me out.
Emma, I know how you feel…we got paired with cats too! But it is still fun – and good for Jack to get to know some cats since he doesn’t live with cats. PS. Tell Bert to get himself over to SlimKitty…he needs a refresher course 🙂
Mom says we need to wire his mouth shut or remove his teeth. He is impossible!
hi Emma. great post. I don’t know any cats so this was fun to read and Mom said we will check out the blog. Tell Bert that he does look chubby!! Is it the camera angle? Happy Thursday! Your doodle friend Dash
The camera angle doesn’t help, but he is adding pounds again. He just can’t stop eating.
It’s always good to branch out. LOL That looks like a fun blog, and Bert got to make some new friends.
Bert enjoyed all the boys over there. He blames his weight issues on living with all girls and us dogs. We think it is just an excuse.
awww – that was so sweet. Ivy says she would be happy to share the boys…it gets old sometimes. 🙂 We were very glad to meet you. Oh – and there is SOME dog stuff – mom drives transports sometimes on weekends. 🙂 And Bert isn’t chubby – he is fluffy. MOL
Now you will really be his best friends! I bet your mom doesn’t drive the dogs and cats together, though 😉
Oh, Emma, your expressions are priceless. I am not quite sure what a cat is, but I know enough to tell Bert to stay out of the Christmas cookies! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Cats???? Are they not for chasing??? Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly
Cat chasing isn’t allowed at our house, only critters 🙁
Great post Emma! We’ll go over and check out their blog. I think they may have joined Tuesday’s Tails a few times, but not for sure.
I think they might have as they are all about rescues and fostering, lots of cute kittens.
The gift exchange is such fun!
Lily & Edward
It’s good to meet new friends, even felines 🙂
Great job, Emma! That was the perfect plan to have Bert help you out with this post. That sounds like a great cat blog, we will go over and check it out. Samantha especially wants to since it’s mostly boy cats over there!
Oh yeah, plenty of boys over there and they seem to be fairly fit as well, unlike my cat bro Bert.
Thanks for the wonderful introduction to Random Felines, Emma. You did a great job (as you always do). And you and Bert make a great team.
BTW, are you sure Bert is chubby? Or does his fur just make him look fat?
Thanks for joining the fun of the Pet Blogger’s Gift Exchange.
He has probably gained a pound again. He just eats everything in site and it is so hard to keep him from eating. He steals his sister’s food if Mom leaves the room for a second. He steals our dog food out of our bowls, Mom’s food, he is just chubby. The only boy and the only chubby family member. Glad you enjoyed the post 🙂
What a fun idea…and kitties can be…well….interesting sometimes, right??
Smileys!

I enjoy a good rumble with cat bro Bert now and then, but usually he is more trouble than anything around here!
I wouldn’t trust Bert not to order a gift and “accidentally” have it shipped to himself. Keep an eye on that one.
He tried to chew through the box to get the my jerky that arrived yesterday for a review! He has done it before…worse than a puppy! Ruthless cat, but sometimes he is a lot of fun too.
I have never heard of this blog before, but I am very interested in rescue work for both dogs and cats, and I love fostering. I will be heading over to their site for sure.
Definitely a good place for cats, rescue, and foster!
Random felines! Love it!!! This is our second year in the pet bloggers gift exchange, I just love the idea of it!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It is fun. We can’t to read more posts from the others that have joined.
Bummer, We aren’t allowed to chase the cats either, but we do it anyway LOL.
Sometimes Bailie tries to chase Sophie, but she gets in big trouble.
that was my fisr thought too: ask Bert. It’s great to take some steps into the feline world, you can find out the most interesting things :o)
Like…if cats eat colored tinsel, it is their way of decorating the litter box…is that what you mean???
Oh really? Do you think that would work for dogs too?… I ate a green one, no wonder that I saw nothing on the meadow :o)
LOL! Try eating red or gold, but red might scare your mom since it is the color of blood.
…yes, you’re right, that could end at the vet… how about blue… or purple, yes, purple is great :o)
well, if you had to be paired with cats, you were paired with some great ones! We know the Random Feline clan well and they are one super bunch!!! That’s why I stopped by instead of Dakota, some kitty had to let you know how great they are! Love, Cody
I figured some kitties would come scratching at my blog today. I like kitties as long as they don’t hurt me with their claws. Six kitties plus fosters would be too many for my paws, though. Great, cute kitten pics they have.
HI Emma.
Well we just read all about you on Random Felines. You say what more felines?! oh my yes there is a whole chowder of us out here. It was nice meeting you and we will bookmark you in our feedly reader. Happy Holidays!
Thank you for coming by. I like kitties, since I live with two, I know a bit about them, but cats are a bit hard to understand sometimes.
I think you are secretly excited to get paired with kitties!
Shhh…
Smart move Emma, to solicit Bert’s assistance with your post today. I’m not familiar with this blog you write about, however, I do believe you’ve peeked my interest and I shall hop #punintended on over and spend some time there. Thanks!
Just be nice and no chasing the kitties 🙂 Sometimes it does work out well living with a couple of cats. A dog never knows when they might come in handy.
Blogville cats and kitties are very much special… They are GOOD furends to us Dawgs… which came as a surprise to Many of us…
They all seem pretty friendly and nice, but I always am careful not to make them mad because their claws can be painful!
I understand the shock Emma. The first year I did the PBGE I was also paired with a cat. Cokie the cat to be specific. It was very cool following Cokie as he lived in Hollywood and actors in character were walking by his window all the time. Also his human worked in movies and that was pretty cool too. Sadly Cokie passed last year.
This year I’m paired up with a dog blogger and animal activist which is very cool!
I follow Cokie, he was one of the first bloggers I met. So sad when he passed away. Can’ wait to read your PBGE post!
Awww, I can’t believe that my mom failed to sign me up for a new blog buddy for Christmas. She owes me big time for this oversight! Hopefully Bro Bert can become the cat’s meow.
This is our first year doing it. We thought it would be a fun holiday thing to do.
interesting activity 😀
We have somebody here who’s trying to get on the Nice List, too!
Bunny
We were relieved when Bailie got her official notice about making the nice list last week. I’m sure your questionable case will be on it too. She isn’t mean spirited, just gets into some bad situations sometimes.
Careful Emma, looks like Bert is making a case for letting another male cat into your house!!
Trust me, he will be the last one. Mom didn’t want another male ever because they have all been trouble, but she gave Bert a chance and this is the last one!
Naughty naughty Bert! BOL
That would be him!
awesome new blogging friend great xmas gift to them in this great post.
Thank you. I was lucky to have cat bro Bert to help me out.
You are so funny, Emma! Your article cracked my up and I’m gonna have to head on over and check out Random Felines.
Always happy to make people smile and/or laugh? Do pay them a visit, they work hard for kitties.
Random Felines is a pawsome blog! We’re fellow rescue folks, and have fostered kitties for years, so I suppose we can relate. But OMC!! You were paired with cats! LOL
I was real happy I had cat bro Bert to help me out, but it is always fun and challenging to find and study new things. We can’t foster any animals as we would have to keep them all. You are very special being able to do that.
