I bet you all thought I wasn’t doing any baking this Christmas. Well, it’s been a real busy month and I finally got some time to bake up some peppermint cookies just in time for Christmas! Today Bailie and I will show you our recipe for Peppermint Christmas Cookies for Dogs. We dogs love kisses, and peppermint freshens breath, making these the perfect holiday cookies! As a dog you can munch down one of these and feel much better hanging out under that mistletoe!
This recipe is real easy. Remember, my sisters and I don’t have any food issues, so we don’t worry much about what the ingredients are. The only important thing to remember is to use peppermint oil, NOT extract. Extract often contains alcohol which is bad for dogs. At the end of my post, I have a link to the recipe if you would like to download it for yourself.
Before getting your paws into the thick of the baking process, check to make sure you have all the ingredients and tools you will need for the cookies.
Now that I have a little sister, I do like to use her as my assistant. She is getting pretty good at baking these days and does a good job helping me out. As you know, baking is a self rewarding dog behavior, and Bailie can hardly wait to give these cookies a taste.
Always remember to check out the dough before you roll it out to make sure it tastes good. No sense in making cookies if he dough is no good.
We rolled out the dough and starting cutting out the cookies with our festive Christmas cookie cutters. This is the hardest part of making the cookies.
Bailie can be such a tattle tale sometimes! I’m just making sure the cookie cutters are positioned correctly, but she has to yell for Mom because she thinks I’m going to eat the dough. Keep your furry pants on little sis!
It looks like I’m all done with the dough and cutting out the cookies. Almost time to pop them into the oven! You could add red color if you would like, but we opted for the natural look.
While I get set to bake the peppermint cookies, I leave Bailie at the work station to guard the cookies. If we leave them unattended, cat bro Bert will definitely show up and steal at least one!
Once your cookies are baked and have had time to cool off, it is time to eat them. Put the peppermint cookies on a festive plate and share with your fellow pups! These are to drool for! If you would like to have a look at, or download this recipe for your own dogs, click here.
Those look super yummy. Glad Bert didn’t steal them.
He did steal one off the counter when we were taking photos later on and he ate most of it.
We agree yummy and drool worthy. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
Hope you have lots of tasty cookies to munch on over the holidays. You deserve them after all your work with the tree rats in the park.
Emma, you have no idea how much Harley and I want to master our baking talents. These look incredible – Yummmmmm
Well, it is much easier than a gingerbread house if that helps get you going π
I think the pictures just might be yummier than the cookies. Just love those expressions.
Thanks, but we are not for eating although Mom says she would love to just eat me up whatever she means by that.
Great job girls, love Baileys elf hat, I need to get one of those. Have a great Christmas, enjoy your cookies.
She makes a pretty cute elf π
Those look yummy!
They are and they freshen up that dog breath.
Bailey is getting to be a good assistant, you are teaching her well Emma.
If she can concentrate on the task at hand and not goof around, she is pretty decent these days.
those look pawsome – we did out cookie baking yesterday and took all our cookies to the humane society – okay one or two ended up in our tummies π
We give some to our neighbor dogs, but the rest are for us to enjoy π We donate other things to the less fortunate pets all year long. I bet they loved your cookies!
Thanks for the recipe Emma, not that my mom will ever bake…seriously, I don’t think she knows where the oven is. But I hope you guys enjoy!
Who needs her…just start baking, two dogs in the kitchen, what could go wrong?
Bet those cookies are fantastic
Lily & Edward
They are real tasty!
Mmm, those cookies look delicious
Katie loves them, so I know the fluffies would too.
Y’all sure whipped up another winner Emma!
Cat bro Bert stole and ate one, so I know kitties like them too.
oMD OMD those look and sound Outstanding… We want mom to bake some fur US…
Merry Christmas to YOU and your Peeps…
You can always bake them yourselves like Bailie and I did.
Emma, those cookies look awesome. We love peppermint and fresh breath around here, so we hope to give them a try. It’s always fun watching you and Bailie working in the kitchen too!
Bailie and I love to work in the kitchen as you know. Give these a try! Easy and tasty!
Oh Emma, Those look to drool for! I am going to ask Mom to add this recipe to our favorites. It is good to see Bailie helping again. βΊ Merry Christmas my love β₯
Sometimes she does a good job, other times she is only up for mischief.
Oh gosh you girls are cute! Who would have thought Bailie would turn out such a great helper that you even let her guard the cookies! Great job Emma =D
I have to prioritize my siblings and Bailie trumps cat bro Bert, thus she can be the guard!
Oh, yum, Emma! You have the BEST recipes. Between dropping me off at the groomers, the mom donated blood, had a mammogram, and went to the grocery store. She could not find any peppermint oil. Where would one find that? I am clean, beautiful, and have a sparkly green bow in my hair. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Mom found it at a natural/health food store. It wasn’t as easy as we thought, but she called first and then went and got it. Glad you are all polished up for Christmas!
Oh Thank you so much, Emma for sharing that recipe. WE have been trying to get mom to bake for DAYS now. SURELY she will now that she has a new recipe? Ya think???

As I tell all my pals, why wait for her? Just do it yourself like I do π

OMD..they look fantastic!! Arty is the baker in our pack and helps Mama when he can. He wants to know how you get so much done with no opposable thumbs…that is the only thing really holding him back. π
Smileys!

Lots and lots of practice I think. Baking is the best! Arty and I could have a bake off!
Interesting. I never thought dogs would enjoy peppermint. I wonder if Honey does?
We got some real strong peppermint treats and loved them which is why we thought about trying this recipe. It only has mild peppermint flavor.
mmmmmmmmmm!! Those cookies sure look yummy! I can smell them from here!
They are real tasty!
That looks yummy, send some over lol π
Wish I could!
