I’m back in the kitchen today, it has been a while, but I’ve been a busy dog doing lots of other things. Today I’m going to make Valentine’s Day Stuffed Kongs. Kongs are new to our family, but it has been a “love at first sight” kind of meeting. Stuffed Kongs can be used as a snack, for training, to keep us entertained, so many different things, they are wonderful!
I’ve decided to make Cran-Raspberry-Banana Stuffed Kongs. Most fruits are healthy for us dogs, and I chose red fruits for the Valentine’s Day theme.
My sisters and I love bananas, so I’m using a sliced banana, cranberries, raspberries, and yogurt for my filling. You can use fresh or frozen fruit. I have some of each. All you have to do is place the ingredients in a food processor for mixing. The amounts you use really depends on the size and number of Kongs you will be filling.
Being a top chef, I always sample the ingredients before I start mixing. I would hate to go to the trouble of mixing up something and having it taste bad!
Once you have the fruits and yogurt all pureed together, the filling is ready to go into the Kongs.
Always take a close look at your stuffed Kongs to make sure the stuffing isn’t running out anywhere.
Boy, I think I may drool here! Perfect Stuffed Kongs! These are going to be so yummy! Time to pop these babies in the freezer for several hours until they are “done”.
Being the chef, it is also my job to lick out the mixing bowl. It is a tough job, but I am willing to do it. I have to be careful it doesn’t get all stuck in my beard!
Always be careful of baking assistants. They enjoy opening the freezer to check on the stuffed Kongs. Don’t let them get away with taking a lick, or removing them too early.
The only thing left to do is sit down and eat the Valentine’s Day Stuffed Kongs with my sisters. We chose to eat them outdoors in case we had any spillage. Mom wouldn’t like red fruit spots on the carpeting in the house!
If you would like to download my scrumptious recipe in pdf form, please click here. I highly recommend these as a nice way to say “I woof you” to your dog on Valentines Day!
I am joining the Tasty Tuesday blog hop sponsored by Kolβs Notes and Sugar the Golden Retriever. If you are looking for tasty ideas, take a look at what other dogs are baking and eating!
I have been waiting for this day…I love it when you are the chef! The mom and I study your pictures. We like to see your attire and your background staging. Your stuffed Kongs look yummy. I will see if the mom will let me make some for us poopers. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Now I’m nervous knowing I’m being studied π You are supposed to focus on my work so you can make the Kongs too! Everyone loves it when I’m in the kitchen, so I try to do something every month or so.
We think these are just the best cooking programs around. Pawsome we say pawsome. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
I’m still sitting on my phone waiting for Hollywood to call for a TV show, but no luck yet. I may need to go directly to the Food Network or something to get them to do a show with me.
We love stuffed Kongs and this sounds like a pawsome recipe!
And perfect as Valentines for the pups.
Love this idea. Even I could make these.
This could be my simplest recipe yet!
These sound fabulous!!! Thanks for the idea, I think I may have to make this one up on Valentines day!!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It is so easy and quick…just remember to allow time to freeze if you want them frozen!
These look amazing!!! Must tell my mom!!! π
Super tasty too which is the most important!
You need your own cooking show BOL
Lily & Edward
I’m trying to find an agent in Hollywood, but I don’t have any connections yet.
Mmmmm, that looks really good.
It is all human stuff, so you even humans could make themselves a Kong, LOL!
Emma, there is a show on PBS called the Great British Baking Show. You should try to be a contestant! You would be with your British pals and other top chefs! Great post!! your doodle friend, Dash
I saw it on the guide the other night, but we forgot to go back and watch it! Baking with British Dog Flair, by Emma the GBGV π
They sure look tasty!
They are real yummy!
oh wait, wait, wait… to clean the mixing bowl could be my part, I’m a good bowl cleaner, you can save a lot of water with me on board :o)
I always try to clean all my baking supplies so Mom doesn’t have to bother putting them in the dishwasher. You could help if you were here.
Those look like tasty treats, and you guys didn’t even have to wait for the boy pups to buy you any!
I’m not a girl who waits for the boys…Katie and Bailie or those kind of girls. I’m not afraid to get what I want on my own, or make it on my own in this case.
Those treats even have me wanting to taste them. Great idea and wonderful pictures!
You might like them as it is regular fruit and yogurt but humans may want to add a touch of sugar.
Emma, you always make frozen treats look so yummy. Your boyfriend Harley doesn’t like frozen stuff. He’ll watch it melt first before eating it! Silly Doodle
We like it much more in the summer, but what is better than sitting in a pile of snow and gnawing on something frozen? True Minnesota girls!
Emma, you are the bestest baker pup ever! Wooooowoooooooo!
Thank you. I do love to be in the kitchen.
S&D get Kongs every night. They are stuffed with pineapple and pumpkin. Love your take on the stuffed Kongs!
I love pumpkin, never had pineapple. I wanted something red for Valentines Day.
These look amazing! I’m glad you said that about spillage, though. I’d be liable to let my dogs have this in the living room, then kicking myself for the red spots on the carpet.
Best licked/eaten on a washable surface or outside.
What a good idea. We love Kongs. Good thing you mentioned spillage – I usually fill the Kongs with stuff that’s not really colored, and I’d be annoyed with myself if I got berry stains all over the house. =)
We always have to be careful where we work on our Kongs because it can be messy.
Thanks for the Valentine recipe Emma – they look yummy. Now if I can just get my mom to help me make them!
I think this is my simplest recipe ever…I’m sure she could handle it.
What a yummy sounding recipe. We love your apron, Emma…you are always dressed for the occasion!
Thank you. I like to be stylish π
LOVE β₯ your apron and your DELICIOUS Lesson today.
Thank you. These are super yummy in a doggy tummy!
I just love it when you are in the kitchen making goodies! β₯
It is fun, and you would love it if you were here to sample the fruits of my furry labor π
Emma, thanks you SOSOO much for the easy to download recipe! I showed this to my mom, and she said she would get our kongs out and try it – as long as I let HER lick the bowl. I guess that will be ok. this one time. We LOVE bananas and carrots – if we cook the carrots first , do you think they will work?
Your friend, Chablis
I’m not big on veggies and I don’t like carrots, my sisters do. I think you can put anything in you want to, it may change the color, though. Just puree it all up nice and stuff the Kongs.
Kongs are so great and you can obviously stuff them with so many delicious things! I love your Valentine’s recipe for your Kongs, Emma. They sound delicious.
Oz
I’ve been trying to stuff cat bro Bert into one, but no luck. Other than that, everything seems to be able to be stuffed into them. They always last a long time which is nice.
I love it when you cook up a yum!
I love to get my furs into the kitchen and make something tasty.
LOL good point about red spots on the carpet. Those look super yummy. I suppose you could also put that mixture in a silicone mold and pop them out.
You sure could. We wanted to stuff our red Kongs with something fun for Valentines, but the filling could be ice cream like too.
Mmmh, we are big Kong fans here at our pack! I love the idea of pureeing all those yummy ingredients ~ thank you for the idea! It will be executed & ready to be licked on Valentine’s Day π
There is going to be a virtual Kong party on Saturday it seems like π Yum!
Those look awesome, Emma! Great job!
Thank you. They are tasty!
You are one pawsome chef!
I try.
We love watching you work in the kitchen. Those kongs look delish! We think you should definitely call the Food Network or maybe Animal Planet. A dog cooking show would be great.
Millie & Walter
I think it would be real popular, but the humans are afraid I would take over all the ratings π
Great idea! Sometimes mom puts Peanut Butter inside our kong, but she doesn’t do it often because she doesn’t want us to be chubby puppies, but this would be a great protein rich , healthy, and cute treat!
When Bailie runs with Mom, she gets a Kong with a little peanut butter in it to work on while Mom walks with Katie and I. She loves it, but she burns the calories still being a youngster.
I am SO making these!
Yay! The Pyrs will love them.
These are going on our, “list of Mamas things to make us” list!! Than yu so much for putting it in PDF form for easy saving!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
You guys will love them. So tasty and good for you too.
Those sound delicious! And good idea eating them outside. I bet they would leave some nice stains on the carpet!
It depends on how fast they are eaten and if it is a messy dog or not, but outside is a safe place.
I think it was a good idea to take those outside. They look and sound delicious!
Mom is funny about the carpeting. She gets real mad when we make messes on it.
Great job emma those look and sound great, your such a great chef
I love to be in the kitchen.
How cute, and what a great idea, Emma! We have been using Kongs lately to entertain our foster dog. She is still a puppy and needs lots of entertainment. Normally we just use peanut butter, but Ace loves bananas and other fruit so it would be fun to give your recipe a try. We would definitely be having these outside as well!
Bailie gets peanut butter in hers after she goes for a run and is home alone while Mom walks Katie and I. Peanut butter is so high in calories, so we try to use less of it and more fruits and stuff, but Bailie is still young and burns calories like crazy.
I want to know how you licked the bowl without getting a red mustache! Love Dolly
My beard furs don’t usually stain. None of us got red paws either π
Thank You so much for the yummy recipe. I will be making these for Schooner and Skipper along with my grand dogs!
You’re welcome. Super easy, and yummy!
One word: YUM!!!!!!
You are correct!
