Last month you may recall, I visited Dr. Brent, an animal chiropractor for the first time. Since then, I’ve made two more visits and now my sister Katie is also giving it a try! I learned after the first visit Dr. Brent helps me feel better, and I race in to see him when I have my appointments!
I didn’t have any serious issues when I started seeing my animal chiropractor, just some small things, but Mom says it is amazing how I have changed! I sit normally, I am back to giving Mom hugs all the time, I walk more straight, and I don’t get mad and crabby like I had been. We are both thrilled, and I will continue to visit Dr. Brent occasionally to stay adjusted. He says with each visit I need less adjustment because my body is adapting to how it should be.
Poor Katie is having issues dragging her back paw again. Her Rejenease supplements have helped her feel better which puts her in the mood to walk more, but walking more means her claws on the back left paw are worn down again. Mom thought perhaps Katie could benefit from an animal chiropractor. She came along with me on my last visit but she was scared to death. She tried to hide behind the curtain at first, but she did slowly come out and eventually warmed up to Dr. Brent.
Being a good sister, I promised to stay with Katie and make sure everything went well. I was right there watching her entire treatment.
As she was being adjusted she really mellowed down, had to actually lie down, and by the time she was done, she was almost asleep!
Katie is older and has quite a few issues, so she will most likely need many treatments. There is no guarantee she will walk any better, but there are other health benefits from getting properly adjusted.
The nerves can actually be somewhat cut off if you are out of alignment. By being properly adjusted the nerves open up and the blood flow returns. This alone should help Katie feel better. Heavens, I know I feel much better and I didn’t have any issues like Katie has.
We dogs are much more in touch with our bodies than humans are which is why one treatment for us is like ten for humans. Katie was pretty tired the first couple days after her treatment, but she has also been more alert. We have also noticed she is a bit restless and we think it is because she is feeling things she hasn’t felt in a while and she isn’t quite sure what to do about it. We are excited to see how she does after a second adjustment today.
Katie and I both got the full treatment, top to bottom, front to back. My session was pretty short, Katie’s took more time because it was her first one, but one thing is for sure, we were both worn out afterwards! Visiting the animal chiropractor helps us stay fit because our furry bodies feel better which makes us feel more like doing fun stuff like playing and working out. If your pup has any issues with movement, stiffness, or other pains, give an animal chiropractor a try! You might just be amazed at how your dog changes for the better after just one or two treatments!

I hope Katie feels better and can start taking short walks with you again. How did you find your chiropractior?
She always has her two daily walks, no matter what, but it is hard with her shoe and stuff. She is very slow, so I’m usually the only one besides Mom who walks with her sometimes because I can be patient. Bailie is too fast and wild. We found Dr. Brent through the daycare Bailie goes to. He does adjustments there one day a month.
We have never heard of a doggie chiropractor…we are so glad you found one to help you gals stay adjusted!!

For me it has been quick and amazing. With Katie it will take time to help, but it is worth a try.
Oh Emma! How did you ever know you needed a Chiropractor? My Mommie is very curious about that, probably because of me.

After years of playing chase and wrestle and all the other things I do, I had some pain and the past year or two some injuries where I was limping or in a bit of pain. Mom wasn’t keen on giving me pain meds, or even thinking of surgery, so we figured a chiropractor might be the way to go. Mom and her family have all had success with then on human issues.
oops. I’m also very glad you and Katie are feeling better. I like feeling better and I usually do that right after I eat my food. Unless Twinkie eats my food. Do you thing a Chiropractor would help Twinkie stay out of my bowl?

That sounds super great… I will look if we have such a service here too…my dad was at a chiropractor for humans and he said he feels like re-born :o)
My chiropractor adjusts humans too, but Mom hasn’t had the need for an adjustment since I started going. He is so nice and he really helps me feel so good, like my old puppy self again.
Sounds wonderful. I have gone to a chiropractor for human back problems, but haven’t take any of our pets.
We never knew about it until someone suggested it for Bailie when we first got her. She walked funny because she was squished in the womb with 14 pups and it fixed her up in two visits. When I started having some back and back leg pains we decided I might benefit too, and it has worked great!
Great post! Jeffie is getting chiropractic treatments, too, but I’m always too busy talking to the vet to even think about photos. Yours are terrific!
One thing I love about Dr. Brent is he has his own business and works in different venues, like a grooming salon, dog day care, he will come to the house, he doesn’t work in the vet clinic. He does work with vets, but steers clear of the clinic as so many dogs associate their vet clinic with fear and he wants them to be relaxed. Isn’t it amazing how much it can help and how the dogs really enjoy getting their treatments?
Mom is looking around to see if we can find one for me – we use to go to one when we lived in Nebraska and he was awesome
They are hard to find. We searched long and hard to find one for Bailie. She was alright, but also really expensive. We found Dr. Brent through Bailie’s daycare and he is wonderful. I hope you can find a good one. Check with some vet clinics, they may have recommendations.
It is great that you and Katie found something to help you feel better. Katie does look mellow in some of the pictures.
She was totally out of it when she was finished. It was really funny!
It is good for my vocabulary. Now I know what a chiropractor is. My tail is thumping with happiness because you and Katie feel better! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
You are young still, but after years of chase and wrestle and other stuff, sometimes the puppy body is out of whack which can cause pain, and also make us act out because we have pain. Mom says I’m back to my old self now. Katie is a work in progress, but we will take any progress we can get.
That’s great that Katie is feeling better. I’ve been thinking of acupuncture for Jack as he’s been a bit sore lately. I’ll have to see if there are any animal chiropractors around, that might be good for him too.
Our vet suggested acupuncture for Katie too, but the closest one is quite a drive from us. We will stick with the chiropractor for a bit and see how it progresses.
Aw it’s great that Katie eventually warmed up to the doc. It looks like it majorly relaxed her!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Once she realized nothing bad would happen and it would actually feel good, her only fight was to stay awake!
It sure looks like you were enjoying that!
It feels great. He can do kitties too, but I don’t think cats have as many issues.
Katie is too sweet, hopefully she gets some comfort and relaxation from her sessions.
We have our paws crossed. It is hard to say how it is working after just a week. It will be interesting after she goes back today.
I am glad that it is helping y’all. We’ve never been to a chiropractor but know a lot of humans that have.
With your short legs and long back, Bentley, you may need one some day too if you get wild a lot like I do.
We all for doggie chiro! We’re lucky in that the agility world seems to be full of doggie chiropractors and we’ve found a few that Rocco and I are very comfortable with.
I bet in agility there is a lot of need for a chiropractor. It is amazing how wonderfully they can get a dog feeling great again.
Glad to hear that Katie’s getting treatments, too! Hope she’s feeling better soon!
We don’t have real high expectations but we are hoping it at least helps her feel better.
This looks so relaxing.

Trust me, it is. If we can get up and walk out on our own, which is hard since we are so relaxed, we come home and just snooze.
That’s so awesome that you like going to the chiropractor and I’m glad he was able to help Katie, too!
You’re such an awesome doggie mommy for taking your pups to the animal chiropractor!! I hope Katie will feel better with every time she goes & gets her treatment π
She is sacked out right now after her treatment today. He did more work on her this week, and she will go back in two weeks again. I would love a miracle, but I’m just hoping she feels better and can walk a bit better and I have a feeling it may happen.
I hope Katie feels better. I love massages and so does Kilo. I get nervous about some adjustments, especially neck or back, but I hope the treatment works for Katie.
Mom and her family have all gone to chiropractors and never had any problems. Dr. Brent does an awesome job and is very gentle with us. We can already see Katie changing a little bit.
That looks really relaxing. Hope Katie shows improvement!
She was pretty much asleep at the end there!
Oh, wow, I really hope this can help Katie like it has helped you, Emma. I’m glad she didn’t stay too scared. I really should look into this for Cricket and Sheba. With our luck there won’t be one close by though…the bad thing about living in a rural area.
She had her second treatment today and she seems to be feeling much better. It will be a lengthy process, but if it helps her feel better it is worth it. I bet Cricket and Sheba would benefit from it too. Many animal chiropractors mainly work on horses, so if you are in a rural area there may be some around for horses and they can do dogs as well.
We started visiting a chiropractor with Jasmine. She benefited greatly. Cookie would likely not do great without one either.
All three of us have tried it now and so far we have all gotten lots of positive things from it. I would recommend it highly.
I hope that makes Katie feel better, I still am giving Nellie the rejenease too and she is doing well.
The Rejenease is great, really helps, and combined with the chiropractor, things are going better for Katie.
I’ve never needed to take a dog to the chiropractor, but I totally would! Like you, Emma, my chiro visits help keep me from being crabby! It’s no fun to have things be out of joint and painful! I’m glad you and Katie both got some help! Looks like it was very relaxing for both of you!
It is doing wonders for Katie and I and we do recommend it. Mom never expected it to actually improve my mood!
We can’t afford a chiropractor, but Mommy gives me awesome massages!
The one Bailie went to was really expensive, but now we have found a good one that doesn’t cost all that much so we can afford it. The initial visits add up, but once we feel better we don’t have to go very often.
Emma, that’s on my list of things to ask Doodle Doc about for Harley at his next visit. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. We learned a great deal.
Just remember, like many human docs, not all vets are “for” chiropractors, but if you talk to horse people or agility people, most of them are all for it. We are thrilled with the results we have all had thus far!
That is so pawsome! Good for you.
Dr. Brent is really doing a lot of good for my family!
Both of my guys have had adjustments, just not regularly. I do need to check into this and see if there is someone around here who could attend to them regularly. I hope it helps Katie feel better.
I had three in a fairly short time, now I will only go every few months. Katie, we will see how it works for her how often she will need to go. It definitely helps us a lot.
