It’s finally the time of year where garden hounds can get out and plant the flowers! We love to help Mom with the messy work and she always appreciates a few extra paws. All the supplies and flowers are in the garage, making it easiest to load up the wheelbarrow for transport to the back of the house. My crazy sister Bailie came along for the ride.
We always put all the dirt in the old pool to help keep the mess to a minimum. Boy, we sure have a lot of nice black dirt!
Sometimes you have to really get in there and get your paws dirty to get the job done. Lucky for me, my gardening apron keeps my belly dirt free.
Bailie is still such a youngster. She doesn’t mind a bit getting in the dirt and making a mess of herself. I guess it goes along with her crazy sense of style! She insisted on wearing the butterfly on her head for this project!
My first planter is done. I’m thinking it looks pretty darn nice. Do you agree?
Bailie finished her planter too. Hmmm…it looks like Bailie has a flower petal hanging in her beard. I wonder if she tried to eat her flowers?
This year Mom bought all the flowers and plants at Gertens, which isn’t dog friendly, but we still love their plants and flowers. Actually, it is pretty crowded at their market I hear, so that may be why they don’t allow dogs to visit.
I’m proud of how the planting turned out. I think I will declare myself the official Minnesota Flower Princess! It sounds much nicer than garden hound!
Today Iβm joining the Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like a Dog! Join up and share in the fun, or just visit a few new blogs!
You guys did an awesome job on the planting. I see the pool got repurposed for the project. You didn’t try to swim in the dirt did you? I guess you did to mix…lol. Thanks for joining the hop!
We use the old pool with some cracks in it for planting π
those are going to be some wonderful planters in a couple weeks – good job girls
Thanks. It has been ideal growing weather for them this first week, so they are going to be big in no time.
you both are the most patient and adorable helpers!!!! Loving those sunglasses and butterfly ears!!!! BOL! Your flowers are gorgeous!
Bailie has her own fashion style for sure!
Your planters look terrific and I love your gardening outfits!
It’s not always what you do but how you look doing it that matters π
Your flowers are beautiful and you arranged them all with your own paws Emma… pawsome! Bailie please wait for me, I will jump with you in that fabulous pool :o)
Bailie would like to eat flowers with you too!
You guys are too much. I love your planting hats and aprons, especially Bailies butterfly hat. We are still waiting for Spring in New York.
It’s a bit chilly out still, but we are loving it.
Oh, Emma, the mom wonders why I will not pose like you do. It really is amazing looking at your pictures. Bailie is not bad either at posing, but I know she is a wild child like me (her butterfly ears say it all!) The mom has tried to put things on my head and I go bonkers! I hope she does not see this post because she may get ideas. Your flowers are very pretty. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Bailie is a real good model, but she is also a wild child. She learned early to be a good model, so stuff on her head is no problem.
I think you make a fabulous flower princess! Actually that’s funny because I just took some photos yesterday on Mika by our lilac tree and I officially labeled her lilac princess LOL!
The planters look wonderful, and i’m glad your mom had 2 paw-some pups to help her with the job!!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Mika can be the lilac princess as we always need one of those too π
Oh you crack us up
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Just your average gardening hounds, nothing more, nothing less π
Beautiful flowers. And those are quite the hats you guys are wearing.
Mine is my gardening hat that matches the apron, but Bailie has her goofy butterfly headband to hold her ears back.
I agree Flower Princess is a better title…but maybe you should be Flower Queen and Bailie can be your princess.
I never thought of that. Great idea!
Wow! You really have a green paw! Your gardens will be lovely.
Actually, Bailie had green paws, face, back, green everything the other night. She had to get a bath, and even the bath water turned green! Kids!
These are some super cute pictures. It got down to 40 degrees again yesterday (and colder during the night before), so I’m glad I haven’t planted anything this year!
We had to cover them up as it was down to 30 Tuesday morning, but that is typical here. As long as you can keep an eye on the weather, you can plant pots this early here.
You lucky dogs!! (that’s what mom said this morning) We have had rain clouds and cold for a month now! It’s awful. Mom and I really miss the sun. We usually have flowers in by now, but we haven’t done it and Mom is wondering if we will!! We love your hats and glasses. love your doodle friend Dash
We have had a lot of cold and rain this month, but some gorgeous days as well and not so warm which we all love. The flowers are very happy!
EmmaDog – you are just the cutest thing EVER. I’mma hafta pin these photos.
Pin to your hearts content as long as you don’t stick me π
Great job, Emma! The planter looks beautiful and you are definitely the Flower Princess. Leave it to Bailie to cause a little mischief with her flowers…she forgot to hide the evidence though. π
Our beards can really cause a lot of trouble for us, or if we are in trouble, they can hold evidence against us.
You guys are awesome! And your neighbors must love watching all your great photo shoots. You should charge admission for the entertainment.
We have been weird for so long, I doubt they even pay much attention. I know two of them do say they always look forward to seeing what we post about when we are out in the yard doing silly stuff.
What adorable flower girls! =D
Thank you!
OMD OMD those are the CUTEST Gardening outfits we have EVER in our lives seen… we LOVE them…
Thank you π We love to dress for the occasion!
I think you did a great job with that planter, Emma. Bailie does look rather sweet wearing that butterfly – even when she was sitting in the pile of dirt! I love helping out in the garden.
She is such a teenager, but she is having fun.
Good job with the planting Emma. We are very shaded where we live so flowers aren’t a great option for us, although I could put some on our deck. Currently I purchased a greenhouse and will try to grow some veggies to see how that works out. Of course, I will need to keep Delilah out of it…LOL
Thank you for joining the blog hop.
I’m not into veggies much, my sisters are. We like to look at the flowers on the deck and front porch, but that is the extent of our gardening adventures. Good luck with your veggies.
Oh my, those are quite some gardening outfits. If you saw me with my torn up gardening clogs and Honey with straw clinging to her floofies, you probably wouldn’t even talk to us. π
I like to be a fashionable pup, and how I look is almost more important than what I’m doing, so I try to dress right for the occasion. Mom doesn’t look half as nice as Bailie and I do. Can’t wait to see gardening photos on the boat π
LOL! cracked me up! You are so creative, Joy!
Us hounds are the creative ones. We provide an overflow of inspiration.
Love your crown Emma and what a good job gardening! Mom doesn’t let me help so I just sun myself while Taffy eats rocks. Love Dolly
Oh no, not rocks! We used to eat mulch so mom replaced it with rocks since we don’t eat them. Today I’m sunbathing and admiring my planting work.
OMD…I am turning jelly green with envy over your wonderful hats!! Your Flower Queen crown and Baillie’s butterfly hat are almost as beautiful as those flower planters!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Why thank you. As you know a pup has to dress nicely for every occasion and activity!
Great work gang! Y’all could start a second career!
I have my paws in so many pots, no time for more careers π
Hi Y’all!
What a great time y’all are having. This is your pretty part of the year.
It’s all over here in the south. It’s been almost 2 weeks of 90+ degree heat of summer. Later temps will be over a 100. Hopefully we’ll all be in the mountains before the real heat starts.
Y’all come on back,
Hawk aka BrownDog
This weather is perfect, a bit of warmth during the day, cool nights. We don’t like the heat and humidity in the summer at all.
We have a few planters that need to be filled with nice, black dirt & pretty flowers…you’re welcome to come on over any time and dig in π
We would love to help. A little dirty work doesn’t scare us at all.
You girls did a great job, beautiful flowers.
Thank you.
Beautiful! I love watching the changing of the seasons through the photos of your yard on the blog. I of course don’t get to experience real seasons anymore so I’m a bit jealous. I hope you and your sisters have a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend!
Hard to believe how luscious and green it all is already. We love the seasons and would be sad without them. At least you can enjoy them in photos.
You are both excellent gardeners and your flowers are beautiful. This is the last weekend to plant vegetables in our area. We already have a pink tomato on the vine and hopefully lots more to come.
We actually planted about a week too early for Minnesota. We had to cover the flowers because of frost twice, but now we should be fine.
Emma, I want a garden, I just don’t want to play in the dirt. BOL Any suggestions on how to get around that?
Yeah, gardening involves lots of dirt, but if you wear gloves and have an apron, it isn’t so bad.
