You may recall, I participated in my first Element Specialty Trial back in the beginning of May. I got a leg on my Interior and Container searches and earned my first title in Vehicles. Being as nose work hides are secret, there is no photography allowed, but there is a professional photographer who takes shots of some of the searches. Today I’m sharing my Element Specialty Trial photos from the photographer, Caprise Adams.
There were four container searches, two were indoors, two were outdoors. This one was with boxes in a lunchroom at the school. I carefully sniff up each box.
Here it is! I smell the odor in this box!
My first container search was outside. No matter where a search is, there are distractions, but the great outdoors has so many smells, making a search more difficult.
Here it is Mom! I found it and I am sure of it! Please call “alert”. The cones in the background in the photos are the start line in case you were wondering.
So embarrassing! Every time I find a hide at an event like this Mom has to give me a huge squeeze and kiss. I know she is excited about it, but really, it is embarrassing for a dog.
On to my title event, the vehicle searches. The first search was two cars parked side by side. If you look at me, you can see I’m on it already at the start.
Mom, stop! It is right here! Yes, it is here, I’m sure of it, stop and call “alert”!
Geez, look at her face! What happened to the “trust your dog” thing? I need to train her a bit more I think.
I got to search two ATV’s as my third of four vehicle searches. You can imagine they have been in some fun and dirty places, to there are lots of smells on these babies!
The wind carried the odor from the front to the back of the ATV, so I caught it and wanted to make my way up to the front. I was on a mission.
Oh yeah, it is in here, I can get my nose in there and am right on it. Sometimes being short is a good thing.
Alert! Mom it is right in here. I can already taste my reward!
That is a brief look at some of my searches. It was a ton of fun, and I’m looking forward to competing in the Nose Work 1 Trial on July 18th. I hope to get my NW1 title.

You know you love all those hugs, squeezes and kisses from your Mom. Great job Emma! Keep up the good work.
I do love them, but in public when I’m working it is a bit weird I think.
Cool pictures, Emma! You’re so pretty when you’re sniffing!!!!
Love,Bruin
I was born to sniff, so were you π
Looks like fun!
I absolutely love doing nose work!
Bailie may give the huggles, but you love to be on the receiving end of those huggles from your mom! Pawsome job, Emma! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I am a real mom’s girl, that is for sure.
Oh I agree, your mom can trust you… the nose of a GBGV is always right :o) it’s a challenge to sniff it out on an ATV… there are 87k treasures and different smells on the wheels… and they talk to your nose about their adventures… well done!!!
Love that talk to my nose about their adventures! Great way to put it. My nose can sort it out, though, no problem.
Nice job and nice pictures. It is great that they had a photographer to capture the moments.
She usually only does exteriors since interiors are too cramped, but we love any photos we can get.
You have an AMAZING nose, Emma.. GOOD JOB
I sniffed out your blog, isn’t that proof enough?
Great job Emma! Get used to public displays of affection. Your so cute, Mom can’t help it.
I know, we are snugglers. Sometimes on walks I stop and just want a quick hug and snuggle,so I guess I understand.
Thanks for sharing your photos with us Emma. Yeah, that look on your mom’s face says it all…haha.
Photos don’t lie π
The nose knows what the nose knows I suppose…
hehehe, too much?
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
My nose knows, but Mom’s brain isn’t always so sure!
Wow Emma, what a great job..now maybe your Mama will trust you!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Great shots! The hug is the best, followed by your game face in that third photo.
She does a great job with the photos! There were like 100 or more I had to choose from which was tough.
I just nose you are going to be a champion!
We are really hoping we do well in July.
Emma, those photos are absolutely the BEST! WOW!!! You look great in each shot. Each and every shot!!! That first one with your ribbon is beautiful. Hooray for Emma!!! your doodle friend Dash
Thank you. We found the photos impressive as well. She does a great job!
I love the last picture, haha! Those yummy treats make the trial so much fun, don’t they Emma?
I would probably search just for snuggles since I love to search, but nice treats to make it a bit more fun!
You look so serious doing your nose work. I don’t know why moms always have to kiss us in public. ITs a human thing I guess. I love your ribbon β₯
Mom loves it because I do take it very seriously. I don’t get distracted by anything unlike Bailie who is all over the map!
Great photos! I think you were so fast finding that vehicle one, your Mom couldn’t believe it. I love how she praises you, and I don’t think you mind it as much as you like to say you do. π
I’m starting to look into classes for Luke now, hoping to start them next month if possible.
You will have to let us know if he gets started. I think he would love it!
Great job, Emma! We agree, hugs while working are annoying! ha! It’s awesome to get professional photos, isn’t it? We love getting our agility photos when there’s a photog there!
It is great! She had tons of photos, so Mom could also learn a lot about body language and stuff she missed being there in person.
Good job, guys. Emma, you are a clever girl. You are reeling in those ribbons, now!

Hopefully it is the first of many.
That is so cool. I sniff out Fatty Edwards pee pee and kitty poop outside like a pro
Lily (& Edward)
I could do that too I bet, but I leave it up to Bailie and then watch her get into trouble!
Good luck at the trial, Emma! Mr. N hasn’t done any ATVs yet but we did some hides with the bf’s bike which is practically a vehicle in Portland.
Anything with wheels that can move is a vehicle, so we practice with wheelbarrows, lawnmowers, trailers, etc. So much to sniff, so little time!
Those are some awesome photos, nice to have in your collection. Good luck on your upcoming test.
Thank you. I’m practicing a lot.
Mowzers! That’s some pawesome nose work!
I bet you could train me to sniff out catnip for you guys!
Now there’s a working dog in action π Shared it to my “working dog” Pinterest board!
Thank you. I am really in working mode when I do my nose work.
Very impressive work! I’m sure you are fairly compensated for a job well done with treats and belly rubs, too! Much love, The Scottie Mom,
Lots and lots of good high value treats!
Wow, Emma, you have a beautiful “tell”! My Nosework dog, Zack, has a quick-and-go tell. Then again, that’s from my perspective, which I admit may be warped.
I am pretty clear with my alert. Bailie is very subtle and fast, much harder for Mom to read. I’m learning to give my alert again if Mom asks where it is just in case she needs a second opinion from me.
Great JOB,Emma! Just gotta work on Mom a little so SHE is alert to your alerts. My mom has trouble with my alerts too – especially when I tell her it is a squirrel.
Your friend, Chablis
Mom sees them, just isn’t sure if she should believe them. Hope we do well in July at the trial.
