You may recall, I’m not a fan of being groomed – Mom says it is more like wresting an alligator, so when Andis® asked if I would review some grooming tools I was less than thrilled. I agreed to keep an open mind and give their products a try. I received a Deshedding Tool, and a Small Nail Clipper to try.
I don’t use an ordinary brush on my furs, and they are not to be shaved or trimmed, but stripped. We have bought several stripping brushes over the years. They all work, but I don’t like getting stripped and Mom feels like it takes forever to get my furs completely done.
We went out on the deck to give the Andis Deshedding Tool a try, and it was amazing. No kidding, Mom couldn’t believe it! I stood there, simply stood still, did not squirm, did not try to sit, just stood there like the perfect dog.
She worked on my coat for a good five minutes and it didn’t phase me a bit. When she stopped, I actually held out my front leg for her to work on as well. The deshedding tool looks pretty much the same as the other stripping brushes in my grooming kit, but this one is somehow different! The fur came out, but since I was recently professionally groomed, I didn’t have a lot of excess fur.
Mom also said the handle is real comfortable to hold onto as well. She has a lot of stripping to do, so that is important to her. The package also says it has a special design which won’t irritate my skin. Perhaps this is the reason it felt so good and I did not mind?
Getting a pedicure is really not my thing, but Bailie doesn’t mind at all, so she got to try out the Small Nail Clipper.
At first I think she was nervous as her nails usually get done when she is half asleep in her bed, but she was willing to get them done on the deck. Personally, I think Bailie’s nails look fine, it’s Mom’s nails that need a trim!
Bailie got both front paws done. Mom said she loved the nail clipper. It springs back real nice, is easy to use, and is nice and sharp. Bailie and I both have dark nails, so it is hard to find the quick. To keep from injuring us, Mom cuts off a small amount, and then another small amount until it seems good.
When her pedicure was finished she decided to show off one paw, but it is hard to really tell in a photo.
Mom and I are amazed by the Andis products we received, especially the Deshedding Tool. If you are looking for good grooming tools for use at home, I suggest you give the Andis products a try!

Our nail trimmer looks very much like this one, but I’m going to check out the deshedding tool. It might be good for Jeffie’s furs. Thanks, Emma!
We didn’t expect it to be any different from the others we tried, but I really liked it and don’t mind getting my furs stripped with it at all!
What a great review. That company is based in Milwaukee and our clinic knows the owners, we use their clippers. You look beautiful after your grooming. It’s nice I don’t have to do to much grooming with my pets. But the one thing I will recommend is that when you have a puppy you play and touch their feet and nails all the time and teach your pup to lay down on it’s side for nail clippings and make it a positive experience so we don’t have to fight with them as 100# adults at the vet clinic when this training wasn’t done as a pup.
I don’t let Mom do my nails, but I’m an angel for anyone else! Bailie and Katie are both fine with getting the trimmed. Seems like a good company and we do love these two items.
I can’t tell you how many brushes I have, I’m always looking for the perfect one! That deshedding tool looks like it might work well on Sheba too. I could probably also use some new nail clippers, I think my old ones are getting dull.
I also love to take the dogs out on the deck for grooming during the summer…it makes clean up so much easier.
Katie has to go to the park to get brushed because there is just too much fur! A new sharp nail clipper makes a big difference, and I bet the deshedding tool would work well too.
that does sound like the kind of brush we need – we will have to look into that one 🙂
Mom can’t believe she really likes it and it works so well. We recommend it!
The mom just ordered me the deshedding tool. I hope I like it, as I hate to be brushed, combed, etc. I go to the groomers every 4 – 5 weeks. The mom loved your review, but I am not so sure. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I am rotten when Mom tries to use my stripping brush, but this one gets tons of fur out and I didn’t mind it at all, plus it feels good in Mom’s hand she says. I still do my grooming in small amounts. No more than five mins or so a day. If we do that, then I only need to get to the spa every two to three months. We have had so many stripping brushes and they were all the same, but this one is really nice.
I have my photos entered for the contest! What a fabulous idea for multi pet month!! I love these grooming tools btw, they seem fantastic!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Awesome! These tools are super nice! We really are in love with the deshedding tool.
It’s great that your mom can do your nails… wow BRAVO! My staff are chickens, they always ask the vet to clip my nails :o)
Bailie, Katie, and the cats get them done every two weeks, but since I fight like the devil, I only get mine done at the spa. Someone needs to clip mom’s nails and see if she likes it!
I’m in that fight club too.. the weird thing is, that I let her do my nails with a buffer or a nail file… but as soon as I see the clipper… I turn into a nuclear mushroom :o)
I am even more terrified of a file or buffer! Spa lady for me.
I wonder how that would work on Torrey. I have another brush like that, and it works just OKish.
I have four or five stripping brushes that all look pretty much like this one, but this one somehow works so much better, I don’t mind it and the handle feels great. We did not expect it to be so much nicer.
You were a very good alligator in that picture BOL
Lily & Edward
LOL! You should see me squirm!
Daddy used to groom Bilbo and I…when it was just the two of us. Since Arty and Jakey came to live with us though, we all go to professionals now (which I am much more fond of!).
These look like great tools, though!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
I need the professional touch every few months, but Mom does my sisters, the cats and my in between times.
Nothing like a good brushing to start the day!
Usually it ruins my day, but I kind of like this new brush.
Luckily Eko and Penny are on the easier end of the grooming scale. A good one over with a curry brush usually does the trick. That andis brush looks great for longer-haired pups though.
You definitely got low maintenance pups, but on the other hand, they need coats in the winter and like to lie down on blankets and stuff. There is always a trade off.
I am very impressed how well you and Bailie behaved. I don’t get groomed at all mom has given up on even getting my nails trimmed. But those tools did look great! Love Dolly
Mom doesn’t give up. The more trouble there is, the more she feels the challenge, and she does not like to lose.
These look great, and helpful!

They could help you guys get your coats stripped too.
Bentley LOVES to be groomed, but Pierre hates it. I have to take both of them to have their nails clipped. Bentley’s are simply too thick and Pierre is my wiggle worm. I am very impressed with your new grooming aids. ♥
I won’t have Mom do my nails, but I don’t mind the spa lady doing them. Bailie doesn’t mind much of anything in life.
Oh Emma.I do not care for grooming very much. Mommie likes it a whole big lot, though. She likes to do brushing and combing and bothering my feet. She is much too interested in my ears, to, so I had to tell her that if she was going to insist on putting stuff in my ears then I would insist on going into the bathroom with her and trying to find out where that noise comes from. She was very cranky after that. If you say these are nice then I will tell my Mommie to get them to use on her next dog.

You might actually love the deshedding brush. It feels really good.
I feel fortunate that we don’t have many grooming needs here – just the occasional brushing and both Jack & Maggie like it.
Lab fur is pretty basic. We all have our hair issues here. Lots of stripping of coats, or in Katie’s case, the need to be brushed.
I have yet to trim either one of the boys nails. I’m just too scared I will miss and take a toe – Ugh. Great looking stripper though
Mom has always done Katie’s nails since they are white. She was scared to do mind and Bailie’s since they are dark and you can’t see the quick, but she started slowly “shaving” away at each one in good lighting, and now she has it down and can do it easily. Well, on Bailie it’s easy since she doesn’t mind. I tend to squirm, so mine usually get done at the spa.
Oh yay! I’m glad you liked those tools as much as I did! The deshedding tool is awesome!
We didn’t expect to like them better than anything else we have, but they are both good and the deshedding tool is awesome for stripping my coat.
They always stop grooming me when they’ve removed enough fluff to make another dog!
Which means you only need to get groomed for a few minutes 😉
Those sound like great grooming tools. We only do a bit of brushing when brown dawgs are shedding. Nails are another story. Seems like we are always clipping.
The clippers are nice and sharp and easy to use. Despite all our walking and running, our nails need work all the time too.
Good job standing still Emma! The right tool really does make a huge difference. My boys are much more accepting of grooming time when I use the tool they like- comb, pin brush or soft brush, clippers, file or dremmel. It’s a good thing they have me because I am not sure anyone else would be so tolerant of their grooming pickiness!
I’m real good for my spa lady, it is when Mom grooms me I squirm like crazy, but I do like this new tool a lot.
Holy smokes, that’s a lot of hair! That might be because I’m accustomed to brushing the Boston terrier, and she doesn’t shed much at all. She does hate to be brushed, however, much like your dog! I’m curious about this company now. I’ll see if they have brushes made for non-stripping coats.

They do make regular brushes too. We love our new tools!
