I got a lot of things at BlogPaws, but one thing I was interested in was the 7 inch Tuggo Dog Toy. I’m not much for toys, so I decided to give it to Bailie, my official toy tester. Let’s have a look at how she likes it.
What makes this toy so unique is its versatility. It is a hard plastic ball on a rope, available in 7 or 10 inch sizes, it can also be filled with water, sand, gravel or whatever you like to add weight to the workout.
To add the weight to the ball, simply unscrew the plug, fill, and screw the plug back in. We used water as it is not messy, and can easily be dumped back out. If you fill the 10 inch ball completely with water it will weigh about 20 pounds!
When it was full of water, Bailie found it to be quite heavy and tended to drag it along rather than carry it.
Bailie did get tired and enjoyed sitting down and chewing on the rope. With the Tuggo Dog Toy, it is not a problem as the rope goes through the middle of the ball and you can order a new one from the Tuggo Dog Toy website for just $4.99!
Mom let Bailie play with the toy empty, which Bailie loved as she could really shake it. We filled it with water, but it was heavy and she didn’t seem to have as much fun with it. We settled on about half full of water. It added weight, made a sloshing noise, and she had a blast with it.
Katie and I don’t play with toys, so Mom was the tug a war partner of choice. Bailie totally enjoyed their game, and the weight did wonders for Bailie’s workout as well as Mom’s arm muscles!
While this product is new to us, it has made some headlines already! The Tuggo Dog Toy won the 2014 PetSmart Innovation Station award and it will start appearing in all PetSmart locations this week!
To really see a Tuggo Dog Toy in action, I had Mom take some video of Bailie playing with it in the yard. You can see in the video where the various weight is added to the ball. I apologize for all the “hay” in the photos and video, but the grass got a bit long while we were away at BlogPaws, and Mom hasn’t had time to rake up the mess.
This is a great toy for dogs with a lot of energy! It is also really sturdy and aside from the rope, which can be easily replaced, pretty much indestructible. If you have one dog, they will have a blast with this toy. If you have two or more playful dogs, they can play together and have a great time while getting a good workout. Bailie gives this toy 4 paws up!

Franks, Emma. Bailie is soooooo cute with her big eyes. Do you think she’d like to be my girlfriend? I like toys, too!!
She has lots of boyfriends, so you would have to be part of her collection!
I’m glad that Bailie is enjoying her Tuggo toy. Mom still hasn’t let us play with ours. WTD? She needs to get it together. That looks like a lot of fun! ♥
Mom is more excited than we are to try new stuff, so we usually don’t have to wait too long.
That’s so awesome that Bailie likes the ball! 😀
It’s a super fun toy!
My mom called my dad immediately as she saw this toy… they laughed and imagined what will happen when the silvermistygrey wrecking ball destroys that toy … they are crazy… but I love the toy, maybe it works without water too?
It works without water too, but I doubt you could break the ball part. It is super hard plastic. You could kill the rope, though.
Now that is a cool toy! Bailie did a purrfect job demonstrating the Toggo Ball. Pity I have moved so far away. Bailie and I could be best friends and play. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Bailie is definitely all about fun. She needs to learn to get serious sometimes! This ball is a lot of fun for her!
Diesel would love that toy! It might be one that would withstand his destructiveness!
I bet he would not be able to destroy the ball. The rope you would need to keep an eye on, but it is also easily replaced. Great workout too.
Looks like a pretty good toy – we’re like you though Emma and don’t play much with toys, but our Becca would have loved it!
I’m lucky I have a toy tester in the family. Katie played tug a war and chased tennis balls up until last fall, now Bailie is the only one who plays with toys.
I really like that you can fill it up with water for added weight! My huskies would have a ball with this toy. No pun intended 😉
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It would be so fun to have two dogs playing tug with it. Last year Katie would have played tug with Bailie, but she no longer plays. It is super sturdy and loads of fun.
She likes it! SHE LIKES IT! I’m SURE this is winner with Bailey!!
She loves it and has a blast just running around with it.
Looks like an awesome toy, you can see how pleased Bailie is throwing it back and forth.
She is really good at amusing herself with her toys. Mom tries to play a lot with her to keep her interested. It’s a super fun toy.
Oh boy we would love that toy
Lily & Edward
Bailie sure loves it! Lots of fun and a workout all in one!
What a great fun review with great pictures of fun fun fun. My gang would love this as they love balls and ropes.
I know your pups would be nuts for this toy and most likely use it together!
These look like excellent toys.

I bet you and Ethel would have a blast with one!
This toy looks like so much fun, Shiner said I just have to enter! Very cool how you can add weight to the ball. I just thought it was a plain old ball at first!
It is super cool and so simple! The rope goes through the middle of the ball too, so it slides back and forth. Tons of fun.
That toy looks like a total tugging blast!
Probably too big for kitties, but if they come out with a cat version, I will let you know.
We’ll hopefully be putting ours to the test this weekend! Since I know Luke is going to chew on the rope, I didn’t want to let him have it until I have time to take some video and pictures too. I hope Sheba will play tug with him, but I never know for sure with her what she’ll be interested in!
We don’t leave Bailie alone with it or she will get bored and chew up the rope. Can’t wait to see how your gang likes it.
You ladies look like you’re having such a good time. Tugger sent us some balls a few months ago, but Harley is too lazy, and so far the balls are too heavy (even empty) for poor Jax to lift LOL We’ll try later on this summer!
What kind of a boy is Jax? If Bailie’s 40 lbs can lift it, he must be able to??? Hope he learns to handle it as it is super fun!
Very cool toy! Mommy and I would love to get one of those! Chance are I would run a few times with it that lay down and start chomping on it. 🙂
Bailie chomps on the rope too after a bit, but Mom tosses it again and the chase game begins all over. The ball itself is basically indestructible.
Wow, Bailie looks like she’s loving the Tuggo and getting an awesome workout! We have a Labradoodle visitor this weekend who I’m looking forward to playing Tuggo with!
Oh boy, that kind of a dog will really go wild!
Very cool! I hauled one home from BlogPaws, too, but it’s much too big for my very small dogs. We’re planning to take it on a road trip this summer and gift it to some cousin pets. I hope those dogs like it as much as your dog seems to!
Jean from Welcome to the Menagerie
We didn’t know if Bailie would actually like it, but she has a blast with it. For tiny dogs it would really be too big, but it will make a great gift!
Hi Y’all!
I love toys that make noise.
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
This one makes noise when it is only partially filled. Ours has a sloshing noise, but gravel would make noise, or sand would too.
It’s great that the rope can be replaced. It looks a lot of fun – I love toys that can be carried around and shaken.
Katie would have loved the tug a war aspect if she was a bit younger, but she is no longer playing.
I think that Bailie and Charlie could have lots of fun playing with this together! LOVE the video! So Cute!
I think Bailie and Charlie could be double trouble together, but it would be fun!
This looks like a really cool, fun dog toy! We are so entering your giveaway and hoping that we’ll get our paws on the Tuggo Dog Toy 😉
It is a super cool idea and so many options to play with it, not to mention a good workout!
Ace would probably go nuts over that toy, being a Lab and all …
Labs would go wild for it I think. Can’t wait until cousin Lena comes to visit and can play with it.
Looks like a lot for fun and a good workout!
Retriever types like you guys would probably have even more fun with it.
