We have arrived at the fourth week of Multiple Pet Mania Month and the final giveaway, the Umbilical Belt! You humans need your hands like we dogs need our noses, so a hands free leash is a wonderful invention, and I love the red color too!
I took a good look at this Umbilical Belt before Mom and I gave it a try. We were both a bit skeptical at first, but it sure looks and feels like a sturdy piece of equipment. The belt comes in two widths, two or three inches. We opted for the two inch belt.
If you walk or run with your dog or multiple dogs on leash, your hands are tied up, and handling the leashes can cause you to change your posture. The Umbilical Belt creates stability around your waist which means keeps you from straining your neck, shoulders, arms, and hands. The belt also helps to strengthen your core while you walk or run by adjusting your body to direct your dog’s movement.
The Umbilical belt can be used for one or multiple dogs, but I guess the human wears the belt, not the dog…sorry about the confusion. Mom is starting out using it for just one dog at a time. The O-ring swivel prevents multiple leashes from tangling, and it’s built strong to handle pulling and jerking. Bailie and I are a bit wild when it comes to spotting critters, but the belt lowers the center of gravity to the hips or waist making stopping your dog much easier. We haven’t tested out a quick stop yet, but I’m sure it is coming up soon!
Along with providing hands free walking or running, the Umbilical Belt has a nice zipper pocket where you can stick your keys, some cash, poop bags, or my favorite, a few treats.
The belt is tightly secured with quick-release Velcro and can be adjusted up to a waist size of 41″. It’s made of very durable materials and is constructed to withstand all the elements.
Mom and I took the belt out for a spin and it worked great. Mom loved the feel of the belt and having her hands free, and I didn’t notice much of a difference from walking on a regular leash.

Looks pretty cool. We could use it once the mom is able to walk us. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
It creates back support too as it is based on weight lifting belts. It feels really nice on Mom when she uses it.
it’s a super cool belt. I like that you can’t get a “leash-salad” with the o-ring and it looks very strong!
We love giving Mom leash salad, but she is very unappreciative of our efforts. With this no salad, but until Bailie mellows down about seeing wabbits and squirrels we will use it for only one dog unless Mom feels like a trip to the ER.
I’m so glad you and your Mom are liking the Umbilical Belt too, Emma. I don’t know….that was a good thought, maybe you could wear it, and walk your sisters? 🙂
I do like to be in charge so I wanted to walk them, but Mom said no.
That’s a pretty cool leash/umbilical belt! Looks like it works great and I like the idea of having my hands free while walking the dogs!
Mom’s problem is always she doesn’t have enough hands, but not a problem with this.
Thanks for having this give away. Our mom has been wanting to get one of these. Paws crossed we win.
Millie & Walter
Good luck to you. My mom didn’t think she would like it, but she did.
That looks like the coolest thing ever. Especially since Jax yanks my arm all over the place.
It is a good core workout for the human as well, and it has back support that Mom says feels nice.
I was just reading about this on Wag N Woof Pets as well. I think it looks like a great hands free belt! I have one, but this one just looks so much better. I love the large metal ring it as as well!
Good luck to all the U.S-ers!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I know, so sorry, but I think in July I will have a giveaway for something including Canada 😉 It is a super nice and very sturdy belt and it feels really good on Mom when she wears it.
Speaking of multi-pet mania, did you have a chance to test it out with both pups on a run or walk? Since Penny is starting to come on runs with us, I’m looking for a similar type belt where I can have both pups hooked up.
Mom values her life, so no, but Bethany from Cascadian Nomads has been using one with her three dogs for two years. She runs, walks, does everything and swears by it. Until Bailie is more reliable on not going after critters, she will be either on a normal leash or the only dog on the hands free for running. Katie and I both walk like civilized dogs, so we can be together on it and it won’t tangle because of the swivel thingy. I bet you would love this with Penny and Eko, especially for running. It gives you some back support too as its creator is a body builder, so that concept is in it and Mom can feel it.
That is very clever and looks quite snazzy too!
All you kitties could suit up and go for a walk. Please post a photo if you do 😉
we have seen similar things before – it does look a bit bulky though – and it would be nice if it came in something other than black.
It isn’t really bulky, but it is firm because it provides support for the human waist of hip area. Mom hates black, but this doesn’t bother her as it isn’t for fashion and it works so well, so doesn’t seem bothered by it.
This looks great, and so handy! 🙂

It works really well!
What a cool belt. We never saw this one before
Lily & Edward
I’ve seen it on Cascadian Nomads, but other than that never heard about it. Real good belt.
I don’t know Emma, I’m still really nervous thinking one of my guys could tug me over. What would happen with a dog that pulls? I’m so on the fence about this one. 🙂
Bailie and I both pull…well I guess you know that about Bailie from experience 😉 Mom just takes one of us at a time, and Bailie only while running. It is amazing how much control you can have using your own core muscles if we pull.
I have a leash that goes around my waist. I don’t use it for walking, but it is great for brushing the boys outside. It keeps them from walking away.
This one is really nice because it not only holds the leash/dog, but it provides support for the human. It is super nice.
This sounds like the perfect leash for our pack…It would be great to have Daddy be able to get Arty and Jakey out walking at the same time!!
Smileys!
Dory
It would work great with multiple dogs if they walk decent. Bailie is too wild for walking on it with me or Katie right now, but she will mellow down eventually.
We have one of those and they are great to have.
I would think you guys would like it.
I would love to have the Umbilical Belt for walking with my dog Valentino hands-free! I have a 14 foot leash I wrap around my waist and use this way and it has its drawbacks to say the least.
This one is real stable, feels comfy, and provides back support. You would love it.
It looks very practical. My biped says she might try one now, but it would have been a disaster when I was a pup!
Katie as a pup would have killed mom using such a leash!
I could see how that would be great if you are running with your dog.
For some reason I am not getting notice of your new posts through Bloglovin’. Not sure why that is. Might try unfollowing and refollowing.
That is odd. Thanks for telling me and I will look into it as well.
Last one I got was the 22nd. It is not showing any after for me.
I am going to have the person who helps with the website check into it as I can’t figure it out. Thank you for letting me know.
I think I need to see a video of it in action while your dogs get squirrely after a critter.
I need a film crew to follow us around to capture that.
You are such a great walking buddy Emma! Your mom should put this on Bailie when she was around the wabbits a couple of weeks ago! 🙂
I think for that it was best to have the shorter leash in her hands!
