We had some excitement at our house the other day when Bailie went missing! We were out playing in the yard, and all of the sudden Bailie was nowhere to be found! Oddly, we lost a Frisbee a week before but it turned up a few days later covered in dirt. What was going on besides Mom in a panic? Well, Bailie figured out the over grown bush had dirt under it, so she had burrowed into the dirt and made a cool shady spot to hang out it. Good thing she has that silly pink tongue hanging out all the time so we could finally spot her! Detective Mom says she figures Bailie had the Frisbee in her “den” the previous week as well.

Oh no, that must have been very scary. Glad Bailie was safe and sound.
Mom couldn’t figure out where she went as she has never gotten out of the fence. She called her and called her but she didn’t come out. Finally we found here.
We see you Bailey. lol
But if you are Mom running around the yard looking, it takes some time to actually see her hiding in there! She found a cool spot, but she won’t share with me.
she is a smart girl figuring out where the cool spot is
She gets an A for creativity and an A for being naughty and not coming out when called.
I’ve had those moments. They’re terrifying.
So glad you sniffed Bailie out.
We had no idea she was going in the bush, but we were wondering how she was coming inside with mud in her paws sometimes, and the muddy Frisbee was odd. Now the mystery is solved.
Smart Bailie…she is so cool! I went missing one day. I had found a loose board in the fence and slithered out. The mom caught Hollee trying to decide if she wanted to follow me. By the time she had put on some clothes (other than her jammies) and grabbed a leash I was back in the house! I was so pleased with myself, and the mom was really impressed I had returned home. There’s no place like home! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
We have never escaped from our fence and Mom hopes we never do. She keeps a good eye on us when we are out but all of the sudden, Bailie was gone. Creative girl she is.
That is one smart girl! But still scary.
Smart but as usual, naughty! She should come out when called.
Looks like she found a great spot to hang out. Next time she needs to announce where is going though.
Now we know to check everywhere including odd spots for her.
That looks like a nice spot to relax. I hope your mom has recovered from the worry!
She recovered quickly, but it was frightening for her.
NICE COOL Spot Bailey… THAT was a super “FIND” fur you and then fur your peeps to FIND you there.
She loves going in there, but I’m not allowed in her spot, so when we chase she runs in there and fights me to keep me out!
Put a little face paint on her and Bailie would make an excellent Marine scout!
With her naughtiness, she should be shipped off to the military to learn about respect and discipline!
Nice hiding spot!
It is nice and cool in there.
Having some fun with the ole human were you Bailey? What else have you hidden away?
Her undercover spot has been exposed!

Clever little stinker!
That is so adorable and I’m so glad that it all worked out. And I’m excited to be able to comment – I forgot my WP password eons ago and just noticed that I can log in with Facebook. Duhhhh.
Hope you’re having a great summer!
That’s awesome! I have to look ours up if they haven’t been remembered! It was a scary few minutes for Mom, but it worked out.
Bailie is a smart girl to find a cool spot, but it’s not so smart to not come when Mom calls her!
She is a troublemaker type, but now we know we have to really look everywhere when that pup is missing.
Oh Bailie! Ethel loves hiding out under our hedge in our garden – you have some much in common!

Mom never had a dog hide in a plant before. It was quite frightening when we couldn’t find her!
Oh my!!!!! LOL! I can imagine the scare she put in to your poor mom!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Yep, the panic as flowing rampantly! Luckily she finally was spotted in the bush.
She was playing Hide and Go Seek, she just forgot to tell you. There is a place in my garden that I have given up planting anything because it is Bentley’s cool place. He always uncovers fresh cool dirt.
Typical kid, forgetting to inform us of what she was up to! She loves it in that bush, and now we know where all the dirt has been coming from.
Glad you found her. Love the pic!

Boy Mom is glad too. I don’t know what life around here would be like if one of us got lost.
LOL! Your WW post and mine are very similar!

You are right! LOL! Just a different bush!
she can’t come out of her hiding spot until she hears ‘olly olly oxen free’ because that would ruin the game!
Crazy pup, who knows what was buzzing around in her little mind! Main thing is, she didn’t run away.
Glad you found her safe and sound. How scary! Lucky that tongue stands out!
That tongue is going to hit the floor some day the way she always has it hanging out. Lots of folks say it is cute, I find it a but goofy.
What a great hiding spot! Great for her, but not so great for a panicked mom. I guess you’ll know where to look when she goes “missing” again.
Mom learned to check everywhere, like even weird places if we go missing. She has never had a dog hide in a bush before.
SMART GIRL!! Momma will not panic so much next time, maybe… The dirty frisbee should have alerted you to mischief afoot.
The odd thing is we don’t have any exposed dirt in the backyard, so Mom thought maybe some kids had stolen the frisbee and returned it dirty. We never look under bushes, so we had no idea. It used to be grass, but the bush killed the grass and it is now dirt which Bailie was digging in to make the perfect cooling spot in her own little den.
Whew we were worried for a minute there Bailie! Love Dolly
Believe me, if any of us really go missing it will be all over the internet. This didn’t last more than five mins or so.
I’m so glad you were found, Bailee!! Bruin likes to hide things in my garden, too, but he’s never hidden himself. Not yet, anyway…
This was a first for any of us, but now Mom knows about it, so all is good.
Oh no! Sorry she scared your mom! Luckily she was just right there! π
It was like she had vanished without a trace, so Mom was quite relieved when she found the little stinker in the bush.
Cute! Now Mom will know where to look for her when Bailie here’s the dreaded words “bath time.” π
Or when it is simply hot outside. It is amazing how cool it really is in her hiding spot.
Callie and Shadow used to hide under the utility building in the back yard. It was nice & cool under there in the summer. But now we have it blocked off to keep Ducky out of trouble. π
None of us have ever hid before, so it was something totally new!
Bailey did find a clever disguise! The pink tongue does give it away though. I’m glad she was found safe and sound. π
We are glad she was just hiding too!
That was pretty sneaky of you, Bailie!
She is a total sweetheart, but she has a lot of naughtiness in her too!
You’re a pretty smart gal Bailie, best to stay cool in the heat….but, you may want to tell your Mama next time!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
She had a great idea but since none of us ever hid in the yard before, it was a bit scary!
Hi Y’all!
Hey, a gals got to find a cool spot in this heat! Smart girl!
We reply to your remarks about the visitor on Barks and Bytes tomorrow.
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
It is a great idea, but when she didn’t come when called it started to get scary, but all is well.
Oh my, we know the Mom was scared. Did you do nose work to find her Emma?
No chance. Mom was racing around like a fool and then she spotted that tongue in the bushes.
Da tongue kinda gives her away.
She has a long pink tongue that hangs out all the time!
It’s hard to be human when you dogs do stuff like that, it’s scary to think you’re gone. Good thing she has that tongue that gives her away! =D
She was a naughty girl, but now we know her secret spot and everything is alright.
That would sure give me a panic. Sampson did something similar which I will be writing about on the blog next week. Fur kids! What’s a mom to do?
We are starting to adjust to the idea that Bailie will never grow up and we have to deal with it accordingly π We love her anyway!
oh my you must have been terrified! She was probably in there watching you look for her and laughing her head off!!!
She just loves it in there. She goes in now when we play chase but she won’t let me go in there and tonight she was hiding in there when Mom as mowing. I guess she loves it there.
silly girl glad she really wasn’t missing.
She loves her “bush” fort!
