It’s almost time for the USA birthday celebration, which means I better share my 4th of July menu with you! I’ve got a super tasty main dish from Merrick Pet Care followed by my homemade Patriotic Frozen Stars! I better get started as the dessert will need to be in the freezer overnight!
The most difficult part of making the Patriotic Frozen Stars is pureeing the watermelon as you have to use a knife to cut the large beast! It is best if your mom helps you with this task so no one gets hurt.
Make sure you get plenty of watermelon in the blender as it seems to shrink when it is liquified.
Take extra care to lock up your cat or he may end up eating your watermelon. My naughty cat bro Bert was constantly trying to eat my watermelon, such a bad boy!
I managed to get enough watermelon juice before Bert ate all the pieces I had sliced up. Boy, this is going to be such a tasty dessert, and refreshing too!
This dessert is made in layers, so first I filled 1/3 of the mold with the pureed watermelon and let it freeze, then I added 1/3 of a layer of yogurt and let it freeze. Finally I added a layer of pureed blueberries and left it all in the freezer overnight.
Wowzers! I have to say, these look impressive and will be mighty yummy too!
Next up on my 4th of July menu is getting the table set. Remember, good food is awesome, but the presentation is very important as well! I love to do up a fancy table for my guests, and I ask my guests to dress for the occasion.
This Star Spangled Supper from Merrick sure smells great! It is a limited edition, so make sure and get some soon! It is grain free, and the first ingredients are:Β Deboned Beef, Beef Broth, Beef Liver, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Peas, and Tomatoes, sounds good doesn’t it?
Once I was sure the food was good enough for my guests, I invited them to dig right in, and dig in they did! It was a regular feeding frenzy of healthy goodness! The only problem we encountered was being too full for dessert, so I had to stick those stars back in the freezer for later.
Remember to clean up the table or your pesty cat will invite himself to actually get on the table and eat any leftovers. Such nerve that Bert has! At least he dressed correctly!
Well, don’t just sit there! Leave me a comment and then hit the road to the store to get the supplies to make the Patriotic Frozen Stars and then stop by your pet store and pick up some cans of Star Spangled Supper!

Today Iβm joining the Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like a Dog! Join up and share in the fun, or just visit a few new blogs!
Oh wow that looks like the perfect feast for the 4th. Love the idea of the frozen stars and how cool Merrick made a food for the season. Brown dawgs would like every part of that meal. Thanks so much for joining the hop!
I think any dog would love this menu, it is great stuff!
The mom said your frozen star spangled dessert looked like human food and she would join you at your pawrty! You always have the best costumes, decorations, and pictures. Everyone looked fab -even Bert. Poor Sophie missed out. We don’t have the right canned Merrick food for the Fourth. Sending the mom to the pet store to buy me some! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
You have to have the right menu for the occasion. No need to feel sorry for Sophie, she doesn’t like hanging out with us and prefers to be alone most of the time. I know you will enjoy your Star Spangled Supper!
Your star spangled dessert looks yummy! We have a watermelon in the frig…maybe mom will let us make those! We are going to go ask her now!
They are good. We really like watermelon so it was perfect.
Those look yummy! We’ll be herding Mom into the kitchen to get started!
Good idea! They take a lot of time because you have to keep freezing them.
Those treats are adorable (and healthy)! But nothing beats those cute pictures.
Well, thank you. I think we are a pretty cute family. Mom is proud to call us her fur kids.
Fabulous pictures! Happy July 4th.
Thank you π Happy 4th of July weekend!
The Iron Chef does it again! And now you have me craving watermelon, time to head to the grocery store…
Just don’t drop in on the dogs! Those things are heavy!
Those Frozen Stars look *amazing*…and Bert just kills me π Such a cutie pie!
Bert is just a problem cat, but he makes for good blog material and he keeps our lives interesting.
Hi Y’all!
My favorite shot is of you scowling over your shoulder!
Great cooking there, Emma!
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Mom says my looks are amazing and usually say it all. I guess she is right.
OMD…That Bert is out of control, isn’t her???
Looks like a pawsome menu Emma!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Be happy you all don’t have a pesty feline! Come on over, I have plenty so I can share!
Between our humans, chickens and the duck, the poor dogs never get any watermelon. But the chickens and duck love it SO much! In fact, they’ll eat till the shell is paper thin and you can see through it.
I guess I should have mailed you the leftover watermelon! Bert would probably do the same if we let him.
Those treats are gorgeous! I’m peeking at blogs today to get some hot day treat ideas for our weekend. Thank you.
Thank you. They are easy and tasty too. Just need a day to make them because of freezing the layers one at a time.
These look amazing, and once again Emma, your cooking photos raise the bar. You are a true chef dog!

Thank you. I love my kitchen work almost as much as my scent sports and wabbit hunting.
The frozen treats look yummy. I don’t think we’d let Honey eat them all by herself.
They are real tasty. We don’t get to eat them all at once. Mom always likes to save more for later.
that looks like the perfect way to celebrate – food and sleep after wards
I learned from humans that it is the way to be on a holiday.
Wow Kilo wishes he was one of your guests! Those treats and the food all look amazing. I should have made some red and white ones for him for Canada Day but ran out of time – next year- you have inspired me.
You can make red and white ones anytime for fun.
We pinned that recipe so we can try it soon….those look great. And of course we know the Merrick food has to be great too, though we haven’t tried that flavor yet.
It looks like a fun 4th of July celebration, and Bert just wanted to be part of the festivities!
Bert always wants to be one of the dogs! The summer seasonals are awesome, which is no surprise and my dessert turned out nice too.
How very patriotic! Love the little star treats especially!!! I think my huskies would like to be feeling patriotic right along with you!!! LOL!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
They would work for Canada, you could leave the blueberries out.
That all looks super yummy! I am hoping for some frozen goodness…we have a watermelon and bananas!
Hmmm…watermelon and banana. Not a combo I have tried, but I like both fruits.
THAT looks extremely tasty Emma! I may be tempted to try and make these myself. Boy that cat Bert will eat anything won’t he? Do you think he thinks he is a dog? LOL
Thank you for joining the blog hop.
Bert is always hanging out with us and he does want to be a dog. Remember he eats electrical cords, cat toys in their entirety, and who knows what else!
Making layered ice is a lot of work! It never occurred to me before but it seems like a lot of watermelon is needed since it “shrinks”! π
Making it is easy, just time consuming with freezing each layer and then the entire thing.
Agree, I’m impatient so its a lot of work to me π
Those sure are pretty and looks like they are filled with yum!
Hey, even cat bro Bert was into eating them!
Those look awesome!
Thank you. They are mighty tasty!
Lovely Celebration!
And way to go, Bert, for helping!
Oh yeah, he sure is a wonderful helper…more like help himselfer!
I literally just ordered that mold from Amazon. I was thinking of making treats exactly like you did (well, one difference) but was running out of time. Now I don’t have to. I’ll share your post instead π
LOL! Funny. They are super easy, just take some time with all the freezing of the layers π
We’re having Star Spangled Supper at our house, too! What excellent taste you have, Emma! That dessert looks tasty, too.
Bunny
Anything Merrick makes is tasty in my hound opinion. The dessert is fairly light and cool so it goes well with my main course π
OMD, dat looks like one yummy meal!
Oh yes, it was all super tasty!
What a patriotic family your are! My mom is way to lazy to make those stars. And did I see Emma giving the camera the stink eye? Love Dolly
Yes, I was getting frustrated because that stupid cat kept messing things up and I was tired of waiting all the time until he was out of the way. The stars are real easy, not even any baking involved. As for being patriotic, we love any excuse to party!
Emma, you throw a pawsome dinner pawty! Wish we could have been there. Why wasn’t Bert allowed to eat with the other guests? He wasn’t invited? Have a great holiday weekend!
Clearly, it was a dog event, and even though he thinks he is a dog, he is a cat. He is trouble with a capital T!
HOT DOG!! WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF! (= 4 stars restaurant) We are going with mom and dad to the annual neighborhood parade and snow cone fest tomorrow morning! I get to stay until the pony rides come out – then I have to leave, because I get too excited about any equine critters. Chablis!
When Katie was a young pup in Germany she got into a lot of trouble because she loved to chase horses. Mom was not happy about it, but in the end, it all worked out fine. Enjoy your independence day!
That whole meal looked mighty yummy! We’ll be making those fruity treats this weekend!
Awesome! Your pups, and possibly your cat if you have one…will love the entire meal!
Great job Emma and it looks great. We might have to make a few substitutions. The Merrick is a great start but Mica won’t eat any fruit. Aspen loves strawberries for the red but we have no blue neither eats blueberries. We’ll enjoy your 4th of July.
We are all pretty into fruit here, just not veggies so much. Strawberries and yogurt on a blue plate??? Happy 4th of July!
I love the hear-wear! Our Millie would love the watermelon starts. She loves anything fruit!
Watermelon is real tasty and full of water so it is great on a hot day!
Bert your awesome!
He is a menace!
