Introducing a French Scent Hound in the dog days of summer! We are not big summer fans at my house, so we are not celebrating, but we try to make the best of it. This is also week 28 of the 52 Snapshots of Life Photo Challenge and the word of the week is “summer”.
Bailie and I do enjoy sunbathing. We bake and bake until we can’t take it anymore out on the deck.
Sometimes on our morning walks we like to hit the slides. This is a really good one as we can race each other. Yes, Bailie always wins as she loves to be super fast and carefree. I’m the slower, methodical one.
Here in Minnesota, we even have snowballs in the summertime. They are different from the winter ones as they grow on bushes. I felt ridiculous wearing this hat, and refused to look happy about it for the photo.
Napping in the shade on the lawn is another great summertime pastime. We planted several trees a few years ago, and are now finally creating some nice shady spots.
Katie loves to relax out on the lawn in the evenings. So far this year we have been lucky having lots of cool weather, but the ugly hot, humid stuff is returning now.
Sometimes our neighbor friends come out to visit and we play chase up and down the fence line, usually in the evenings only since it is cooler out.
I always enjoy the evening breeze on the deck right before sunset. It gets me all ready to go inside and head for bed.
Are you a fan of summertime? What do you do with your dogs during the dog days of summer?
Today Iβm joining the Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like a Dog! Join up and share in the fun, or just visit a few new blogs!
My friends at The Lazy Pitbull had the idea for theΒ #PBSG and #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge. The linky for the current week will be posted on Friday mornings. Be sure to see what other blogs come up with for the word of the week!
it is funny – in Arkansas the winter kept us inside and we enjoyed the summer – here in Florida it is the other way around – we have to get super early to avoid the heat and the days are pretty much to hot to do anything than stay inside in the cool. We have our paws crossed that fall and winter will be just perfect for us
That’s why we don’t like Florida much. Even when we vacation there in the winter it is usually too warm.
So far we have had a very cool summer. I am sure it will get super hot next week for the hunt test and we will all be complaining….lol. It is great to see you making the most of summer. Thanks for joining the hop!
We are headed for heat and humidity this weekend. I have my nose work trial the next weekend and have paws crossed it isn’t too hot.
do you think my momma is a french scent hound too? she loves sunbaths but instead to look crispy she looks tasty to me… because she looks like a lobster hehehehe I love summer evenings… when the wind brings all that fabulous smells of the day to my crib :ol)
Evenings are really nice with that breeze. Sometimes we get whiffs of the farms up the road…nice manure smells π
Great photos! We’re having a very strange summer so far with rain almost every day. At this point we’d prefer the usual summer heat if we could just get a little sunshine!
Your area is really drowning. We have had a ton of rain too, but not every day which is alright and it has been fairly cool so far.
We’re not fans of summer either, but ya gotta admit, so far this year for places like Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan, we sure aren’t having much of a summer temp wise! It has been one “cool” summer so far. We don’t have a yard with a pool since we are in a condo/apt complex so we just do walks and go to the park with Dakota. That’s it, we’re boring lol. We are fans of Fall first, then Spring!
So far the summer has been pretty good but the heat is coming in starting tomorrow. A/C is a blessing, but it is still not fun to be out when it is so hot and humid.
Evening breezes are the best!
We workout early mornings, and evenings are fun time. The cool breezes are great!
I’m convinced the key to solar technology will eventually be found by studying pup-behavior. Enjoy soaking up those rays!
We don’t like to do anything in the heat, but we love to soak up the sun until we are ready to pass out. Mom can hardly touch us we get so hot!
All of you look lovely. I do not mind the heat so much. Good thing since I am in Florida! We had a mild winter and no spring…just moved into summer! Hard to believe I was born in Duluth! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
I should be used to cool damp weather coming from England, but I’ve long forgotten that too!
Summer sure looks like fun there, Emma, you definitely do make the best of it even if it’s not your favorite. We haven’t had a lot of very hot weather here, so we’re loving it so far. We just enjoy being able to spend more time outdoors without having to bundle up!
So far it has been fairly cool, but the heat and humidity is on it’s way starting tomorrow. Lots of time inside being thankful for a/c.
Roxy loves to lay in the sun, Torrey not so much. We are having cool rainy days now, so it’s been pretty good.
It has been perfect the last few days, cold nights and not so warm days, but starting tomorrow the heat and humidity arrives.
What cute pictures you have.
Thank you π
Thanks for joining the blog hop Emma! I am not a big fan of summer. I prefer to be in the house with the air conditioner on. LOL
The dogs don’t spend a lot of time outside either. Mostly they are just going out to do their business and come right back inside. We have the hot and humid stuff right now too, but this morning was a tad bit cooler. I’m hoping it hangs around a bit.
It has been real nice, but starting tomorrow the heat and humidity is coming and it will be nasty!
Do you and Bailee slide down the slides, Emma? Where we live we are not allowed on the playground equipment, but Mommie is always looking for new and fun things for us to do.
I’ll even answer your question, too!!! I love summer except when it’s hot and miserable. Mommie likes our walks better when it’s hot and miserable, though, because I don’t run so speedy fast. Mommies says I will just love winter, but I’m going to wait and see about that…
BRUIN
We don’t worry about what is allowed or not since we aren’t there when it is busy and we aren’t damaging the equipment or using it as a bathroom. Rules are made to be broken is Mom’s motto.
My Mommie has a similar rule about rules. She calls it “Fork that,” except she doesn’t say “fork.” Unfortunately, the only park with a slide around here is behind the library and people are awfully bossy…
Although we love the sun, we are not a big fan of being real hot either
Lily & Edward
We love a nice nap in the sun, but we can even do that in the winter in sun puddles.
Summer is a PAWsome time of year, as long as it isn’t too hot.

Not good for us. Too many bugs, too hot, just no fun. Swimming is fun, but a dog can’t swim all the time.
I looooooooooove summer and the heat. But I’ve been worried about my hubby and Honey.
It’s been really good to land temporarily in hot and humid Maryland before we head to the Caribbean. I’ve been able to work on my dog cooling skills.
Hopefully the breeze and water will keep you all cool on the boat. Mom and us don’t like being too warm at all, so not fans of the hot weather.
Beautiful photos! I love summer, but here in FL it’s too hot during the daytime right now. The pavement is hot, even the grass is hot, lol.
Florida is too humid for us too. It is alright for a week or so on vacation, but we couldn’t live there and be real happy especially this time of year.
My huskies like to sun bath as well, but they know when it’s too hot, then it’s time to go lay in front of air conditioning, or in the shade if their outside.
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We do get up when we are “well done” and stagger into the house.
I think I might be a lizard–one of my favorite things to do is just bask on warm rocks by a body of water. Nala, on the other hand, wilts quickly in the heat. We’ve been lucky to have a mild (well, for central Texas) summer with lots of rain this year, so Nala’s been enjoying her favorite hot weather past-times–crashing around in the full creeks and chasing the spray from the hose.
Mom really dislikes the heat as well. She enjoys a nap in the sun for a short time, but that is it. We love the a/c, early mornings and evenings.
Emma, feel free to come and visit us during the summer, it rarely gets above 65 degrees! Living by the ocean has it’s perks!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
It was like that on the North Sea coast in Germany too. No need for a/c. This super hot and humid is only good for naps in the a/c.
You and my mom both love the same weather! So you would love our summer here, twice this week the crazy lady went swimming in the outdoor pool in the 50s! Suppose to get hot and sticky this weekend so we will be inside with the A/C. Love Dolly
We’ve been loving morning walks and runs in the upper 50’s, but starting tomorrow, yucky heat and humidity…boooo!
Love the photo with those summer snowballs! I like sitting out in the evenings too, and the wind has been great with a nice breeze lately.
The breeze is key to the perfect evening!
Looks like lots of summer fun Emma. Enjoy!
Early workouts and lots of relaxing in the a/c the rest of the day.
This has been a weird summer, for sure! We hate humidity, but love evening breezes. You girls look as lovely as ever.
your friend, Chablis
We just keep hearing how much rain you are getting. It has been relatively cool here but starting today the heat and humidity shows up.
Cute photos! We’re about to get a cold snap this Sunday – I’m not looking forward to it! Summer and Winter both have pros and cons – I can never decide which one I prefer! Thank you for stopping by my blog π
We are getting a heat and humidity wave starting today, no fun. We have no doubts, we prefer winter.
I luvs summer since it means swimmin.
Swimming is the best part of summer, but we don’t get to go very often.
Bentley loves to lay in the direct sunlight. Once he is too hot to touch, he comes inside and gets under the ceiling fan on the wooden floor. We walk and play in the mornings and late evening. It is still in the 90s at 8:00pm.
I like to lie down with my head on the a/c vent when I am done baking in the sun. The heat and humidity is simply not much fun for us or for Mom…especially her hair which blows up like a balloon!
We are HUGE Summer fans here in Doodleville. Harley loves to watch everything from the garage floor when it’s really hot. Jax and I like the sun and the heat – Summer is our season to roam around. the warmth of the sun makes me happy!
Summer is our hermit season, LOL! Mom doesn’t like the heat either, but it is alright, we are up and out early before it gets too hot.
LOL love the “summer snow balls”!
Mom doesn’t know the real name of the bushes, but everyone here calls them snowball bushes.
We are big fans of summertime, Emma, Bailie and Joy. Give me some hot weather, and I’m a happy girl. Jasper loves to lie in the sun puddles in the house, when he and Sophie aren’t out in the backyard playing in the pool with their daddy. I can see you aren’t too thrilled with summer, Emma. You have a nice, long, warm coat, so winter is probably easy peasy for you. For us, we’re not that insulated. π Have a fun time in the summer sun, just the same!
Bailie and I do love to bake in the sun, but the heat keeps us from doing the fun stuff we normally love to do. Everyone has their favorite season, and we are happy to have all four here, but this is not our best one.
Whoa! How cool that you go down the slides! I donβt mind summer cos Iβm in a/c all the time.
The cats have it pretty nice in the cool house all the time.
Love that slide pic!
Thanks. Competitive sibling fun.
I don’t care much for summer, either, Emma. And the older I get the less I like it. Between the heat, humidity, and bugs, I can only stand to be outside for about five minutes at a time. The rare days when we get a nice, cool, dry breeze is when the girls and I take full advantage out in the backyard playing and just lounging in the grass.
Until the other day it has been a fairly cool summer which is great, but now it is the usual awful July weather. The mosquitoes aren’t so bad as they spray for them a lot around here, but we were eaten by horse flies on a walk the other day. They are nasty!
Great photos- I love the slides π
Thank you. Slides can be fun!
those are some great summer photos
We’ve had a little too much summer here lately but escaped to the mountains last week. Honestly Toby spends the middle part of the day in the air conditioning. We either walk early or late. July can be tough.
We are pretty much fur rugs in the house all day and go out mornings and evenings for our exercise. Not summer fans here.
