If you are grilling this Labor Day, why not grill up some burgers for dogs? Burgers for dogs are super easy to make, your dog will love them, and they won’t feel left out of your grill party! I will share my recipe at the end of this post.
These burgers only take a jiffy to prepare and are so easy, your dog can make them himself! Start by getting all of the ingredients together. Use a blender or similar device to grind up your dog kibble into a fine powder like coffee grounds.
Mix up all the ingredients in a bowl with a spoon. Try to keep your paw fur out of the mix.
Roll the mixture into around two inch sized balls and place on parchment paper. With a clean paw, gently press down the balls into a nice round patty.
Here is a quick review of the process up to here. Easy peasy, isn’t it? Don’t forget to wash your paws after handling the raw meat.
Head outside to the grill and place all the patties on the rack to start cooking. Boy these smell so good, I couldn’t help but lick my chops! It’s real hard not to just eat them up raw!
Oh boy, if I had a scratch and sniff blog, all you readers would be drooling right now. Don’t they look amazing! It is best to have your human help with the grilling as you don’t want to burn your paws on a hot grill
When they are finished, place them on a festive platter to cool before eating. No one wants a piping hot burger!

Have a good look at this plate of heavenly deliciousness! Yum! Your dog will love you!
All that is left to do is serve these burgers for dogs to your dogs! Katie polished hers off too, but she isn’t hearing all that well these days and she didn’t hear Mom say eat. Her eyes are still good as you can see her focus on the big plate! Happy Labor Day! To get my recipe, click here for a copy in pdf form.
Now for one little formality. There is a Sadie Hawkins dance coming up in Blogville. I was wondering if my handsome Bentley would be my date? Bentley? Maybe I could bring along some burgers to sweeten the deal? Geez, I hope he says yes!
Those burgers look awesome, Emma, we will definitely be printing out that recipe. Happy Labor Day! PS…we are sure Bentley will say yes!
I have my paws crossed π Your pups will love the burgers, they are real tasty.
Yummy! Have a great day
Gotta love some good grill food.
You have the best burgers Chef Emma! Happy Labor Day gang!
Even cat bro Bert likes them, but that isn’t saying much since he eats everything.
They do look pretty yummy Emma, thanks for the recipe!
They are real tasty and even have some veggies in there.
OMD, these look amazing and so easy to make!!! I’m going to put my dad to work!!! Thanks for sharing and have an amazing Labor Day! π
I knew you would want your parents to get busy and grill for you. Very yummy.
OMD! Burgers AND an invitation to the Sadie Hawkins dance with my sweetie?! Life cannot get any sweeter! I would be honored to go with you, my sweetie, to the dance. β₯ β₯ Feel free to pack a couple of extra burgers! YUMMY!
I can sneak some burgers in under my collar I think π So glad you will go with me. It would be real embarrassing if you turned me down, not to mention, I would be crushed. Yay!
You never have to worry about me turning you down, sweetie! β₯
I didn’t think so, but a girl never knows until the yes has been heard.
those are some healthy looking burgers
My mom was going to try one because they looked so good, but then she remembered the ground kibble and decided not to try one.
Those were easy peasy and looking great. Nice job thanks for the great recipe. Enjoy your day of rest.
The hardest part is waiting for them to get done on the grill but it is worth the wait.
Emma you are brilliant! I had no clue that we can use grounded kibble. many thanks for a super idea!!! …and if Bentley reads your post today you will get the biggest YES ever :o)
Whew…got the yes, so I can relax and eat my burgers now. Instead of bread crumbs and stuff to bond the ingredients, I figured ground kibble would work just as well and it does. The bacon grease is what really adds the best touch!
it’s great I always worried when I used breadcrumbs, many thanks for this fabulous idea!
How fast can you deliver to Chicago!?
I would have to pass through WI, land of speed traps, so it would take a long time! Better make some of your own, they are real easy!
yum! we love burgers on the grill. Great recipe, thanks!! your doodle friend Dash
I’ll take any burger I can get my paws on but these are real tasty for us dogs!
Mmmm, MMM! Emma, you really are a chef in a million.
Cooking is a great self rewarding behavior/job.
those look soooooooooooooooooo DELICIOUS!! What time is dinner? Barks and licks and love, Dakota

Those burgers look tasty, Emma!
They are very yummy. Even my cat bro Bert loves them.
Yum! Those look awesome!
They taste even more awesome than they look!
Looks like a pawesome idea! Of course, our dad would have to successfully LIGHT our grill first….. (yeah #grillFAIL!)
Oh be careful with that. Fire is very dangerous! You could get your whiskers singed!
Chef Emma – I love it! You look like such a professional in the kitchen! These burger patties are a fantastic (and don’t forget de-licious), idea!
Thank you! My sisters and I love them and they are so very easy to make.
Those look super yummy!
They are quite tasty and fairly healthy as well.
Those look delish. We like the way you use the kibble too.
Millie & Walter
We didn’t want to use bread crumbs and figured kibble would work just as well if we ground it.
Those look amazing! I’m wondering how you don’t get paw hair in your burgers though? Not that we mind paw hair at!
Between my Kuvasz sister Katie and the cats, there is always fur in stuff. I don’t mind. Paw fur just adds to the natural flavor!
Mmh, those look droolingly good π Mommy worked all weekend, so she didn’t grill anything, but she did cook up some breakfast bacon…for herself though!! Pretty rude, huh?!
I hope she saved some of the bacon fat to put in these burgers I know she will be grilling for you!
Emma, you are one excellent grill master! Looks great!
I’m good in the kitchen, so I wanted to try my paws at a bit of grilling.
What a tasty sounding recipe, Emma!!
Smileys!
Dory
They are super tasty and you could make them any size you need, so tiny for small dogs or big for big dogs.
OMD….. dos burgers look AMAZING !!!!! I’m drooling over here.
WAgs,
Ranger
Stop the drooling and head to the store, get the ingredients and start grilling π
Those sound yummy!!! Hope you guys had a great Labor Day!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
They were real yummy and we had a nice day as well.
Love the photos! And my dogs say the burgers look barkylicious. =)
You should grill some up for them. They would love you for it.
Emma, we had no idea what a great cook you are. It is impawtant to be careful not to catch your furs on fire when grilling as well. You have great willpower not to nibble these while you were making them. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
