Our adventure walk on Saturday took an extra long turn because of walk your dog week. Almost every Saturday, we take an extra long walk which we call our adventure walk, but Saturday, the usual two hour walk was two and a half hours. Katie and I started this tradition years ago, but now she isn’t able to walk so long and far, but Bailie is rearing to go along!
We took one of my favorite walks which passes through lots of wooded areas, ponds and fields. Generally, we see lots of critters, the reason why I love the walk so much! This week, we added to the length of the walk by going to some fun spots for photos at the old Brandtjen Farm. We didn’t have the good camera, so the photos are not real nice as we used the phone.
There was a real cute well up there too.
The weather is absolutely perfect right now. Sunny and in the 30’s in the morning. These temperatures make Bailie and me all wild and crazy! Bailie wouldn’t sit still, so I took a photo alone at this spot overlooking the lake.
Mom shook some of the ants out of Bailie’s pants and we did get a shot of us both by another little lake. We were starting to get tired as we had been paw padding along for about two hours at this point. It was a real fun walk and I know we burned a lot of calories too!
After a good morning adventure walk, a girl likes to just get comfy, put her paws up and munch on some healthy snacks. I decided to break into these dehydrated beef asophagus strips…yum!
I just got my big order of all natural made in the USA snacks and chews from Raw Paws Pet Food. We put in a huge order because they are having a bundle sale! The bundle sale is basically buy one get one free on many tasty products from raw foods to chews like jumbo 6″ bully sticks, dehydrated cows ears, ground duck and more. We love Raw Paws Pet Food products as they are healthy snacks for us and after walking and walking, a girl deserves something tasty and healthy! (FYI, if you order from my affiliate link I receive a tiny commission, but it doesn’t change your product price at all).
After you place your order for some good and healthy snacks, get out and take your own adventure walk. I made this infographic last year, but it still applies to walking this year! What is your favorite reason for walking your dog?
Emma that was a wonderful place you visited with your sis. The farmhouse reminded me a little of the house of The Dykemaster in Mr. Storms novel :o) And to relax with that tasty foodables after a long walk is the best!
We workout so we can eat more π
Looks like a beautiful walk!
We had a fun time and were exhausted.
It sure looks like you had a blast on your out n’ about!
We had a really nice time and saw critters too.
Emma, you are beautiful as always in every photo. Bailie certainly looks like the wild child! The mom has started walking and is able to handle half a mile without using her cane or walker. She does not take me because if I pulled she might land on the ground which would not be good. It is 68 degrees here right now and I love it! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
That’s great! Hopefully she will soon be able to take you along. We are loving the cool weather too!
30 degrees sounds pretty cold to us! I know you love that cold weather, at least the sun was out!
30 is invigorating and energizing! We all love it.
A good walk, and good treats. Sounds like the perfect dog day.
Workout for your health and so you can eat more, which is our philosophy.
Brr! But better than 90 degrees for sure! What a scenic adventure. I am not going to tell the boys you get to curl up with snacks after a walk, Emma. That wouldn’t go well here. But everyone does get one! Thank you for the reminder to unplug for dog walks. I get so sad when I see a walking dog happily look up at their human on a walk but the human misses the moment because they have their face burried in their phone or tablet. π
With Bailie and I there is always so much going on, she has no time to think about the internet, but with Katie being so slow, it is hard not to pull out the phone and go online. She doesn’t, though, as Katie also deserves Mom’s full attention.
Mom keeps trying to participate in walk your dog week but we don’t like to walk
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Like us, you guys have some perfect fall weather for long walks. Enjoy!
Isn’t it the best weather for walking and for sleeping! We love it!
We LOVE Raw Paws Pet. I didn’t get to go on walks this weekend as planned so we played all day on our property. We played so late last night that I had to get a flashlight. We had a blast.
If we are home, we love to take a long adventure walk on Saturday mornings, and Sundays we tend to be lazy and just do short walks. We are playing a lot more in the yard too since the weather has cooled off.
We are big walkers and runners here too. There are SO many benefits for sure. Looks like you have some wonderful weather too!!
It is perfect weather for being outdoors and having fun!
We have really been enjoying some nice temperatures down here for our walks too. Of course, our walks aren’t near as beautiful as yours. β₯
I wouldn’t say that. Mom has traveled the world as is often asked where the most beautiful place in the world is. Her answer is there is no one most beautiful spot. Every place has its own beauty and style.
Those are still really nice photos, even if they were with the phone. Looks like it is gorgeous there this time of year!
Bailie and I tend to look reflective with sunny phone photos, but they are not terrible. It is a great time of year.
Brilliant way to celebrate dog walking week! A long walk in a gorgeous place! π
Exactly. We love our walks and walk several times a day, but one day a week we do the super long adventure walk.
Emma, that was such a great adventure walk! What a terrierific way to celebrate Dog Walking Week! (Enjoy your Raw Paws treats)
Oz
Thanks, Oz! Raw Paws has such good stuff! Keep on paw padding forward!
Looks like a beautiful walk! We love getting out this time of year now that it’s cooler and our leaves are changing! Those treats look so yummy, have to go check them out!
Raw Paws has great treats and chews and right now they have some awesome deals too! Enjoy your walks and fall weather.
This is the story of Bruin’s Walk Today with Mommie, by Bruin
Big big boy Bruin loves to run through the woods so today he ran and ran and ran and ran and then he went to look for Mommie and he couldn’t find her. Then Bruin had to do a lot of big howling, which Mommie was very happy to hear so she came running very fast and found Bruin, but there was something very smelly so Bruin ran away from Mommie to chase it and Mommie got all worried because Big Big Boy Bruin was going so far that Mommie couldn’t tell which way he went. So Mommie called and called and Bruin’s bell didn’t make even a tiny little jingle because Bruin was sitting very politely next to the car, waiting for Mommie to find him.
Good Boy, Bruin!
The End.
Very nice. I was that way until I was about 6 months old, then I started experimenting with going further away. At 9 months, I decided to just run as far as I wanted and not listen anymore. Now that I’m older, I still take off in unleashed areas that are fenced, but I always circle back to check on Mom, Bailie just runs and runs like I used to. That’s fine, we are all satisfied on leash.
Cool Emma! Leashes are nice for girls. I’m a big boy and I just don’t like leashes so I pull on them so much that Mommie thinks I might be a bull dog! Plus, my Mommie is so old that she falls over if I run off suddenly and I’m afraid she might break and then who’d give me my dinner? So I run and run off leash in the very safe parks that are not near a road.
Here’s a funny story, Emma. I even climbed up a tree once. It was a falled down tree, but it went up a little bit so I had to explore it… but then something else happened and by the time I had climbed up the tree I was way up high in the air and I did not know how to get down. I howled for Mommie and she said “Wait a minute, I’ll help,” but I was way up higher than she could reach so she was about to call the fire department about the funny little dog stuck in a tree. That’s when I noticed that clever dogs could jump down to a lower falled down tree, then jump off that one to get down to the trail. Phew!
Bailie is a big pulling dog too but Mom doesn’t mind as it keeps her arm muscles toned.
What a beautiful place and such a great long walk! You definitely earned those yummy treats. We like to wait until it gets just a little warmer out to walk (OK, it’s just me, the dogs are fine with 30 degrees!), by this cooler weather definitely has been seeming to bring out the energy in all of them. Thanks for joining our hop and celebration!
We are really enjoying the 30’s, and looking forward to the super cold and snow in winter in another two months or so. We are all much happier with cold weather than hot summer stuff.
You guys always go on the most adventurous walks!!!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We all have a knack for being different π
Mom’s motto she makes us live by is a tired dog is a well-behaved dog which she learned watching the Dog Whisperer. Loved the picture by the well, your weather is much cooler than ours and we haven’t had any sun for a few days and no rain which makes it worse. Thanks for joining #DogWalkingWeek! Love Dolly
We are thankful to have had almost two weeks without rain. We’ve had so much rain, we really don’t need much more this year. My mom feels the same way about tired dogs being good dogs which is why she keeps us tired out all the time.
I absolutely love the second and third pictures where both of your heads are facing different directions. Making life easy for you mom are you?!?!? π
She doesn’t try too hard when all she has is the phone camera because she knows she won’t like the photos much anyway, but sometimes opposite looks make for good photos.
Looks like a pawsome walk!
It was fun and exhausting which is perfect!
What a super-great walk! =D
We had a great time!
What a wonderful adventure walk Emma!! Being 11, I don’t get out for that long of a walk but Mama and I do like to stroll around the nearby lake and Arty just loves walking along his beach!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Katie was always a big walker, but at 13, she can’t go the distance anymore. She takes shorter, slower walks and enjoys them.
What a great adventure walk. Love the farm house. You’ve also got some incredible weather for walking too. It’s still raining around here.
We have had two weeks of perfect weather so we are lucky. Lots of fall fun outdoors!
It looks like such a beautiful place to take a walk!! Treats are always awesome after a walk. Then…a nice, long nap!!
Have you been watching me on some webcam? That is exactly how I schedule my days!
What a nice adventure walk!
We walk everywhere since we don’t have a car. I always feel bad when we go somewhere like the grocery store where we can’t take Honey with us. It almost feels like a waste of a 4 mile walk not to have a dog with us. π
That is a bummer! Mom can’t walk to the grocery store because she always ends up with too much stuff and things get wrecked on the walk home! Oh well.
That sounds like a wonderful walk. I like #4 on your list a lot. So often I read that people play up to their dog’s fears while walking. I don’t get it. I think the walking itself (enforcing obedience while walking) goes a long way to build confidence and decrease anxiety and fear.
We walk because it is fun. The side effects are some training, fitness, and dealing with situations we come across. We would never want it to become something fearful or not fun.
A nice brisk walk followed by a treat is the best way to start the day. Well that plus a cup of coffee for me. π
My mom likes water just like us, but her water isn’t in a bowl π
All of our walks are adventures. LOL Sampson is a lot like Katie, he can’t do the distances anymore, but leaving him home just breaks his heart.
The good thing with Katie is she doesn’t hear much of anything anymore, so she doesn’t even notice when we leave, but it is sad she can’t go with us anymore
what a beautiful walk
