I’m off to the apple orchard, it will be my first time ever to visit one. I went to Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard in Jordan, MN and met up with my pal Spencer and his mom for some fun. It was a mom and me day too, so Bailie and Katie stayed home.
As we drove in, we could see this was going to be just the kind of apple orchard we had hope for! The directional sign was a combination of silly, confusing, and creepy, but we liked it! You might notice my paws are not looking very nice. Well, guess who played in wet, freshly mowed grass right before going to the apple orchard? Yep, I did, and Mom was not real thrilled about my greenish paw color.
Spencer and I thought it would be really fun to tour the place on the Orchard Limo. Sadly, the moms said no way, we are walking around. At least we tried!
I was excited to see they had an actual barnyard on the property. I wondered if I could get close to some real animals? The barns were real cute and I could see some goats romping around, but once again, the mom stepped in and said I wasn’t going in the barnyard as I might “try something”. Geez, who does she think I am anyway?
We found a cool old tractor by one of the large barns on the property. I love red barn buildings and they had a lot of them.
Hey look! It’s an apple orchard and I found a ton of apples here on the ground. My sister Katie loves apples. She would go wild seeing them all around on the ground like this.
There seems to be a random collection of old tractors at this orchard. I love red, so I had to get a snap of me with a red tractor and some red apples on the ground.
Despite being an apple orchard, Minnesota Harvest also had a big area with pumpkins.
I’m still searching for the Great Pumpkin, so I started sniffing through the bins in the hope of finding it or maybe a clue. Boy there are a lot of small ones in this bin!
The other bin had some real weird stuff in it. Mom says they are called gourds, but I insisted on sniffin’ around the bin as well. A girl never knows where the Great Pumpkin might be hiding.
Having no luck on my search, I decided to pose for a photo with some pumpkins on hay bales they had set up.
To thank our moms for taking us to the apple orchard, Spencer and I let them go to Minnesota’s largest candy store which is located about five minutes from the orchard. My mom’s face sure lit up. She is as crazy for candy as I am for wabbits, which is saying a lot! Once again I found something huge, and I look like a dot on the photo! It was a huge crazy place, according to Mom, but a perfect end to a fun day as well! Have you and your dogs had a fun fall adventure yet? There are so many fun things to do with dogs during this season!
PS: Just in case reading this, you are thinking about making some fall treats for your dog, give my recipe from last year for Pumpkin Apple Halloween Cookies a try. It is easy and your pups will love it.

we went to a couple of Apple Orchards when we lived in Minnesota too – Dad loves Apple Cider
My mom loves it too with a cinnamon stick in it.
Hi Y’all!
My Human thinks the red Farmall looks like her Papa’s tractor. We have orchards here in the mountains where the Humans buy their apples and potatoes to stock the root cellar. There aren’t any limos or neat decorations though.
Y’all come on back!
Hawk aka BrownDog
This was the orchard of our dreams. Real fun. The old tractors were pretty neat to see.
you both sure had a most pawesome time and your photos are incredible!!!! How lucky you are to get to do so many things together! DakotasDen
We live less than an hour away from each other, so we try to find stuff in the middle to meet up at.
What a fun day. Love the pictures. I went to a orchard last week but was by myself, not as fun with a buddy.,
Mom says going alone is more relaxing but less fun. I was the only one she took along as it is more stressful with two of us, especially, with wild child Bailie.
You guys have so much fun. In New zyork they probably would not let our four legged friends into a pumpkin farm so I am really jealous.
Minnesota is not the most dog friendly place, but there are quite a few orchards and pumpkin patches that allow dogs.
Oh that’s really the biggest candy store… even the sign is much bigger than a dog :o) We manufactured all our apples to cakes and we even gave one to the neighbors…wait… I haven’t seen them for days…. ummm… well… uhoh!
Sounds like your marketing slogan could be apple cakes to die for???
hahahaha I hope not….but maybe we should ring on their door tonight… just in case :o)
I bet they are still alive and kicking…just ate too much cake and can’t move.
I saw light in their bathroom hehehehe
Oh Emma, I love that photo of you with the apples…I don’t know why…I just love it. It must have been super fun to meet up with Spencer for the day.
Oz
We had a good time and it was a storybook perfect orchard to visit too. Glad you like my photo with the apples.
I do not get green paws from the grass here in Florida…wonder why? What a great adventure for you and Spencer – all those apples, pumpkins, and gourds. We do have citrus groves, but some of the best ones in Sooth Florida have been sold to housing developers! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Lots of our great spots for pumpkins are now housing developments too. I only get the green paws if the grass is damp and just mowed. Maybe it is the type of grass we have here. The grass in Florida is a different kind from what we have.
What a fun trip to the apple orchard! We have to fit that in this Fall!
Better hurry, before you know it, fall is done!
Awesome trip, even if you didn’t get the limo ride. It’s great the place was pet-friendly, we haven’t been able to find one nearby that welcomes pups.
The Twin Cities isn’t really very pet friendly, but there are 6-8 orchards within an hour of our house that are pet friendly. Maybe you should take a road trip to MN?
You know, when I was a kid, my parents used to take us to an apple orchard. I am glad I read this post because it made me think, I haven’t taken my kids, or dogs to one, and I think they would love it!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
My mom went too as a kid. It is so much fun and I know kids would enjoy it too!
I love all the pix, especially the one of you among the fallen apples! Looks like you, Spencer, and your Moms had a great time at the orchard! Wish we had some neat places like that to take Shadow and Ducky to for a fun day!
Ducky’s favorite color is red, too! Her soft-side crate is red, the mattress is red, and one of her blankets is red! And her collar is red and black. Oh! And her leashes are all red. ?
Red is my color since I’m mainly black, white and tan, it looks good on me. I have lots of red things, but my collars are always rotating, so they aren’t always red but my nose work equipment is red and I have red embroidery on my tracking harness.
Looks like a fun, and delicious outing.
I didn’t get to eat much, but it was fun and lots of good sniffing!
OMD what a GRAND trip to the Orchard and… the GIANT CANDY STORE…. Our MOM would NEVER come out of THAT place…
I was worried the car would be packed to the roof with candy!
Wow, we think it looks PAWfect there! So colourful and wonderful!
It really was the perfect orchard!
Our apple trees are finished. We only got a few honey crisps (because this was an off year) and tons of the other mystery apple that our dogs love. I used that apple tree to make dehydrated apples for the dogs (I ate most of them).
I have a problem.
We don’t do our own fruits, so this was great to go and get fresh apples.
How fun! And with your pal, too!
We had a great time!
It’s apple time here too Emma and the peeps sure make lots of yummy things!
They do, but I don’t know that cats like apples. Come to think of it, that is one thing Bert never tries to steal.
What a cool orchard! We’ll be posting about Sheba’s trip to an apple orchard this week too, but our orchard was way smaller and a lot less fancy! π It looks like you and Spencer really had a fun time. We didn’t even see you in front of the candy sign until you told us you were there!
I feel so small since we keep finding huge things! This was truly a dream orchard! Looking forward to seeing Sheba’s trip!
That looks like a lot of fun – and so many photo-ops! I kinda like your green paws. Sometimes a girl just wants to change up her look! I woulda been excited about that candy store too! That sounds like a dangerous place for me!
The candy store is highly dangerous for my sweet tooth mom! The green paws did go away later in the day, but I kind of liked them myself.
Time without the wild child??? You sure have fun places that you go! My mom says we are getting a little brother, and showed me a picture of him “barrel racing” a few weeks ago,but it hasn’t shown up in the mail, it won’t fit under the seat of a plane. Maybe it will come on that neat red tractor??? I like apples too.
Chablis
It is always fun to go places alone with Mom so we can spend more time together and it makes everything much easier. Bailie enjoys her alone adventures too. I’m sure you will enjoy your new brother. I only have a cat brother, but he is kind of a pain in the furs.
What a great time you and Spencer had!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
It was a real fun place to go and explore.
Looks like you had lots of fun. The artist in me loved the Minnesota Harvest logo, with the bite taken out of the apple.
–Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats
It was fun. The whole place was set up so nicely starting with the sign!
OMD! That looks like so much fun! We have never seen a real apple tree before. I love apples and my mom would go crazy over the candy store. You took some great pictures. β₯
The moms are pretty nuts about the candy store and I hear they have old stuff Mom hadn’t seen in like 40 yrs! I prefer to sniff around the orchard myself.
That looks like a really fun Apple Orchard to visit. Mom would love the big tractors and as a child she got to go to the pick them yourself orchard and a free apple cider.
You can pick yourself here too, but we didn’t do that. Mom said it required two hands and she only has one when I’m along.
what’s a couple teeth marks on a couple of apples. After you make pie, etc the teeth marks will be gone π
Very good point. No one would know.
Looks like a fun outing!
It was a fun time.
