The holiday season is fast approaching which is why I want to share my easy DIY holiday treat jars with you! As one of Santa’s favorite furry elves, I’m happy to help out with craft projects to be used at home or given to others as gifts.

How to make holiday treat jars
Getting started
The first thing you have to do is send your human off to the store to purchase the supplies you will need to make your holiday treat jars. I would go myself, but dogs are not allowed in our craft store.
I’m a huge fan of Natural Balanceยฎ healthy treats and think they are perfect for filling the treat jars! I will be making a jar for dogs and a jar for cats. The Natural Balance treats I’m using are:
- Belly Bites – semi moist dog treats for puppies to adults
- Burger Bites –ย lamb flavor for puppies to adults
- Mini Rewards – Duck Formula which are only five calories a piece
- Dental Chews – fresh and clean formula for adult dogs 15-25 lbs
- Limited Ingredient – sweet potato and fish treats
- Perfect Bites – chicken formula cat treats with only one calorie per treat
- Limited Ingredient – salmon and potato treats cat treats
The process
Probably the hardest part of this project is waiting to eat the treats! I’ve got my tongue out just thinking about them! Natural Balance treats are made with premium quality protein, they are full of flavor, and have no artificial ingredients! The treats are also backed by the Natural Balance Buy with Confidence guarantee.
I had Mom purchase decorations with adhesive backs so I could simple stick them on the jars with my paws – no mess, no fuss, done! I had a bit of help tying the ribbons around the top as it is hard to tie things with paws.
The finished holiday treat jars
Holiday treat jar for dogs
We celebrate Christmas at my house, which is why I have chosen the Christmas theme for my holiday treat jars. The larger jar is for the dog treats. I think it came out pretty nice. It only took me about five minutes to make it.
I’m very proud of my creation and can’t wait to dive in and give these treats a try! They will stay nice and fresh in my holiday treat jar as the lid has a tight seal.
Holiday treat jar for cats
Cat bro Bert couldn’t figure out the system, so I helped out and put together the smaller jar for cat treats. It is really cute too, I think. What cat wouldn’t want to get a jar like this full of tasty Natural Balance treats?
Did you wonder why #1 on my list of things to buy says “jars with lids that close securely”? Have a look at the “naughty elf”, cat bro Bert! He has been known to chew through plastic, remove lids that are pull off and on, which is why we got a real secure jar for the treats since they will be on display where he can access the jars! Bert wanted me to tell you cats out there, these are the best pet treats ever!

What do you think? They came out pretty cute, didn’t they? If I can put these together, so can you! Why not head out to your local craft store to pick up some supplies, and then stop at your favorite pet store to get some Natural Balance treats to fill the jars with. Any dog or cat would be thrilled to receive a jar like these this holiday season!
that looks great and I bet efurrybuddy would love to find such a jar under the christmas tree… and I would say we use those without lids hehehe
At my house, we welcome such lids or my cat bro Bert would eat our dog treats and his cat treats. He is a very naughty boy!
Your treat jars are so cute!! I’m going to give my groomer a couple of them! LOVE that you got your kitty involved in the process!
Cat bro Bert likes to hang out with us dogs and he will do anything for food! They sent us cat treats and food, so we included him. Cat sis Sophie doesn’t like to be in photos.
Emma, you are very creative. And what a great sister helping the cat bro out.
That cat needs a lot of help! It was a super easy, yet fun project.
that is an excellent idea – well done and thank you for sharing
I was surprised at how nice they came out. We have them proudly displayed in our kitchen right now.
Great Idea, Emma – as always!! Thanks, I’ll get my mom on it right away, as my new little brother definitely needs treats to CHEW on!
Chablis
You might need the jars that lock like I have to keep that little fellow out!
Pinned it, pinned it, pinned it, and pinned it!!! I love this, you did a fantastic job!
แฆ husky hugz แฆ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thank you. We thought they came out pretty cute and were so simple.
What a cute project!!! And Bert is the most adorable โnaughty elfโ ever!!!
His kitty ego will start expanding now! He is definitely in the run for naughtiest elf ever!
We have similar jars for the pups’ treat, although nowhere near as styling. Eko and Penny don’t seem to mind, as long as the treats keep coming. Keep an eye out on Bert, I think he has plans for those ribbons.
Bert already tried to pull the jar off the counter using the ribbon. He will do anything to get at food! You guys could jazz up your jars easily too!
OMD! Those are so cute. I will have to make these for the granddogs! I love the ribbon and stocking. โฅ
You could write the name on the stocking with marker or fabric paint, but since we aren’t sure where they will end up, they are blank for now.
Emma and Bert you made very cute treat jars. We have not tried Natural Balance treats but will get Mom L to try some.
We all love them and Bert is spending a lot of time figuring out how he can break into the jar!
How cool! And Emma, you make a cute elf!
Thank you.
Emma, we think you should get 5 stars just for getting Bert to keep his elf hat on his head BOL!!
We just love your treat jars and Natural Balance treats are delicious!
Smileys!!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Bert will do anything if he realizes food or catnip is involved! Glad you like my project. Not bad for a dog!
Looking good!
Lily & Edward
Thanks, guys!
Oh yea, treat jars are terrific but we would like to skip the close securely part!
Bert feels the same way. He is trying to push his jar off the counter so it smashes and all the treats fall out, but so far he has not succeeded.
Those are adorable! We’re not very crafty around here, but we think we could handle this! The Momz goes on her big shopping trip next week so we’re sending her to the craft store for these supplies!
It really cannot get any easier and they came out real cute. 5 mins tops and you have a jar. The bow was the only hard part.
Love this DIY idea! It will make anybody so happy getting this gift! <3 We love Natural Balance too. They make great stuff! ๐
Thank you. It was so easy to make these and they really came out cute.
That looks like such a fun project! I really need to decorate my jars. We have to make sure all of the dog treat packages are out of reach of naughty kitty teeth. LOL
Don’t I know about naughty kitty. Why do you thing the jars we chose are locked? Cats are worse than dogs most of the time.
Your treats jars are adorable! This would be a great project to do with my daughter!
It is super simple. I’m sure she would love it!
Emma, you are so crafty, I never knew! These are great holiday gifts for all the dogs on my list.
They look amazing, but no one has to know they are so easy and inexpensive to make!
Great idea, Emma! I might make one giant one for all the pups at Ducky’s daycare.
Oh that would be a super cool idea! Bailie’s daycare has so many dogs we could never make one big enough!
Great craft gift project, I pinned it. I just love bert!
Everyone loves him…I guess he is pretty fun for a cat! Now he is trying to push his jar off the counter because he wants the treats.
Pawsome idea! ๐
Easy, fun, and looks good too!
They came out great. I am thinking of making chalkboard treat jars as gifts this year.
That would be a fun idea too!
We will see if I find the time…lol.
NICE! What a great gift for the furry ones in your life. I bet your local shelters would love a few too. ๐
That is a good idea.
Wow…… now I’m drooling. I love bones.
WAgs,
Ranger
Don’t drool too much on the jars, they might fall apart!
I enjoy easy-to-pull-off DIY projects for the pups ~ that’s actually a great idea for my pet sitting & dog walking clients. I’ve been saving empty glass jars throughout the year to fill them with dog treats as a little christmas gift, so I really like the idea of christmas-y stickers with adhesive backing to decorate them. Thanks for the idea!
It doesn’t get any easier and they look great I think.
