“Passion” is the week 47 word for the 52 Snapshots of Life Photo Challenge. I had to really think about this one, but then it became an easy decision. My passion in nose work. I get so excited when I hear those words, “nose work”. I jump, I run, and I wiggle my furry little behind. I so enjoy the search, and I am good at it too! I usually search for inaccessible hides, but for this photo, Mom stuck an odor tin on the knob of this dresser so she could photograph me finding it.
Hides can be in so many types of containers, but Mom and I both love these smiley tins. Finding hides make us smile, so these are perfect. A friend of ours has a shop online with everything you need for nose work from these adorable smiley tins, to nose work harnesses, air tight containers, and the oils for making your own odor. If you are in nose work, you should take a look at her shop as she has so much fun stuff! I get nothing if you purchase from her store, but I like to share products I love with my readers.
Today, I’m joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop sponsored by BlogPaws! Don’t forget to stop by and visit some new blogs for fun!
My friends at The Lazy Pitbull had the idea for the #PBSG and #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge. The linky for the current week will be posted on Friday mornings. Be sure to see what other blogs come up with for the word of the week!
I knew you were going to pick nose work! I love the smiley tins, seeing them put a smile on my face! 🙂
They are a lot of fun!
Those smiley tins are pretty cool! I still haven’t tried nose work with my Husky yet, but it’s on my list of great new stuff to try together! You are so excellent at nose work, we love following your trials & adventures.
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
You really should try it as your pup would love it! Lots of fun doing what dogs are born to do, sniff.
Very cool! Great job!!
Thank you.
Your the best!
I usually try to do my best.
That’s a great photo Emma!!! You should submit that photo for a big award. It’s really great! your doodle friend Dash
Thank you. It is me in my element…nose work!
I think you have 3 passions…nose work, your blog, and the love you have for your mom. Well, maybe the blog is a mom thing ;), but I know you love your mom! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Can’t forget wabbits and squirrels too. I love my blog because I get to model a lot and I get tons of fun products to taste, use, and play with. Nose work makes me really happy, and it always includes my mom since we are a team. Yes, I am a total mom’s girl and I am very jealous when I have to share her.
We are still deciding on our passion. I wonder if I can video me chasing my laser light? BOL! XXOO Bentley
It would be a dark video as it works best in the dark. Bailie and Bert love to chase theirs.
Oh I would like to have such a fabulous nose like you…. I bet you would find any crumb in my kitchen :o) It’s a great idea that your friend opened a store for nose workers, it’s not easy to get special equipment apart from the common dog-things. 4 paws for a clever idea!
We love all the smileys on everything. It makes us even happier than w already are!
I’ve never seen these tins before, what a great idea! Haley loves playing “find it” and using her nose, so I think I’ll order a few of these to put in her Christmas stocking.
They come in different sizes and you can get magnet so they stick on metal things. Loads of fun.
Great pictures for the challenge. Nose work is your nitch.
It sure is. I just love it!
it is like hunting for smiles and what could be better than that ?
You are 100% correct! It makes my nose work smile even bigger!
So cute. Those smiley tins got to make you smile
Lily & Edward
They really do! It is hard not to smile back.
How perfect for the word passion! I know how much you love nose work!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
I sure do and all my nose work friends would agree, it makes me so happy.
Our sports become our passion quite easily!
They do, especially if we really love them and do well at them.
We always enjoy seeing EVERYTHING you are up to all the time!
Thank you. I’m a pretty busy pup!
Your passion shines (or should I smells) through loud and clear in that picture.
Thank you. I am a nose work nut!
We think that is perfect for this week’s theme! Those smiley tins are so cute and definitely seem perfectly appropriate for something that makes you so happy. I just love your expression in that second photo, Emma.
Nose work really is my passion and I get very proud of myself too!
Those tins are new to me! You’re always teaching us something Emma.
They are special for nose work. The odor can come out of the eyes and mouth.
Love the passion picture! I think it is about time our dog gets a job – wonder what she would think of nose work 🙂
Pretty much every dog loves nose work because we are born to hunt with our noses.
Well done
Thank you.
We can tell how much ya luvs nose work!
I really do. I get so excited when it is time to go to class or practice.
Nosework seems like a lot of fun!
Bailie and I love to search and Mom loves being amazed at how we can find the hides. Win, win!
Stetson loves doing nose work! It’s been a couple years since we’ve been involved with our nose work group, but he still remembers. Just the other day I pulled out the treats we used exclusively for nose work. He smelled the treats and started doing a search around the house. It made me smile and now I think I’m going to get him back involved with our group.
It is a great sport or hobby. You can do it pretty much anywhere, or any place and the dogs love it!
Love your pictures and your passion Emma it’s so appropriate! I wish I could go back to nose work but it won’t be for awhile. Love Dolly
That is sad. It is so much fun. We have had to take a two week break and it is killing me!
That’s great that you love your work! Those little smiley tins are cool!
I sure do. It is so much fun!
We can tell how much you love nose work by the look on your face in that first picture, Emma!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
I’m always really proud too when I find the hides. I trot around with my tail and nose in the air. I love it.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but why are lip balms included in some of the kits in your friend’s online store? Are they the scents you have to find? Or maybe distraction scents?
No lip balms, those are tubes that look like lip balm where we can put odor in to hide it in places where a shape like that would fit. We only search for birch, anise, and clove. We use all sorts of stuff to put odor in like the plastic or cardboard tube poop bags are rolled around in those poop bag rolls. They work great. We have all sorts of odd stuff to put hides in as we never know where we will want to put them. In one trial in the spring the odor was inside a pen which was lying on a sidewalk. The guts of the pen were removed and odor inserted. Dogs found it, but most humans failed thinking it was a pen and not odor and would not believe their dogs.
It’s awesome that you found the perfect sport for her!
Bailie has fun doing it, but I truly love it.
Looks like you found the perfect fit for this week’s theme.
I did. Nose work is really my favorite thing!
Tim and Hank love nosework, too. Such a great activity for dogs and fun for their humans, too!
We are so happy we found the sport as it is so much fun for everyone, and so simple. It can be done almost anywhere and you don’t need a ton of supplies to do it.
That must be why you’re so good at your nose work!
It is a happy sport!
