It was a rainy November day when the 2016 Kia Sorento arrived in my driveway. I have to say, the rain did not change the look of the SUV at all – it was still real good looking! I’m one lucky dog to have had this beauty for an entire week to test drive!
The 2016 Kia Sorento – Classy, Comfortable, & Spacious
The Classy Kia Sorento
I took one look inside and knew I was going to love this car! Look at the gorgeous Premium Ivory Nappa Leather Trim Seats! They are not only comfy as is, but they can be heated and cooled! The driver’s seat is power operated with lumbar support, and seat memory, the front passenger seat is also power operated. Not to be left out, the second row of seats also has the Premium Ivory Nappa Leather Trim Seats and the two outboard seats are heated!
The smart looking dashboard is nothing to sneeze at! It is very sleek looking and easy to navigate. The leather wrapped steering wheel is heated, which sure felt good on cold paws in the morning!
Keys, who needs keys? This Kia Sorento is push to start. I simply need to have the key in range to start it up! I can control the stereo, blue tooth phone and cruise control all from the steering wheel. The Infinity surround sound system is to howl about! Ten speakers, external amplifier and subwoofer, plus HD Radio! I love the leather and black gear shift too, very classy!
How about the wheels? 19″ Chrome Alloy wheels. Pretty sharp looking! They made for nice handling while driving too!
The Comfortable Kia Sorento
Being a short dog, backing up and parking are always tough for me, but not with the rear camera and surround view eight inch monitor. I couldn’t get lost either with the superb navigation system! These features made me feel much more comfortable driving!
Bailie and I went out cruising several times, but regardless of the features of the car, I always look with my own eyes before backing up, and we always wear our seat belts.
Do you have a large family? Do you have a lot of friends? Many folks with be traveling over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house this holiday season. No worries if you have the 2016 Kia Sorento! It very comfortably seats seven! The third row of seats pops up, is just as comfy as the other seats, and has it’s own climate controls! Most third rows are a bit like the old rumble seats, not real nice to sit on, but this third row is great! You will have plenty of comfortable space for everyone!
You may recall I posted about our road trip to Duluth with this SUV last week. We had so much room and everyone was so comfortable on the ride, it was great! Even nicer, we got 27 mpg according to the computer on the road trip. Around town I averaged around 21 mpg. I was pretty impressed considering the size of the vehicle and the V6 engine.
The Spacious Kia Sorento
The amount of space and versatility of space is amazing in the Kia Sorento! The second seats can be folded down individually, and the third row is split 50/50, so depending on what you are hauling, the options are numerous as I demonstrated in the above photos. With both the second and third row of seats folded down, the back area was huge! The headrests can be removed from the seats if necessary. The second row windows have built in sun shades. Hands full? No problem. Stand behind the SUV with your smart key and the liftgate opens automatically for you, no hands, feet, or paws required!
The Kia Sorento – My 4 Favorite Features
Honestly, there really wasn’t much not to like about this SUV! I did select my four favorite features, though.
- Panoramic Sunroof – We love a good sunroof and this one was gigantic! The glass roof allows for lots of natural light in the car, but if you want it darker, there is a power sunshade.
- Navigation – The detail on the eight inch screen was so easy to follow, there was no way I could get lost!
- Quality Third Row Seating – we were impressed by the quality of the third row of seats, their own climate control and lighting.
- Blind Spot Detection System – The lighting in the side mirrors along with a beeping noise keeps you from hitting a car in your blind spot and makes driving so much safer!
I loved the 2016 Kia Sorento! If they had forgotten to come and pick it up, I would not have complained! Thank you to Kia for letting me test drive this SUV! As you can see in the short video, I even enjoyed driving in the rain with the help of the intermittent windshield wipers! If you are looking for an awesome SUV, give the Kia Sorento a try!

What an awesome ride and a very thorough review. Our 2015 Buick Encore is much smaller but has many of those same features. The mom says it is especially made for the driver’s comfort. She has not allowed me to drive it yet – she says I am too young and immature! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Bailie isn’t driving any time soon either. We loved the car but it was bigger than what we need.
Was it 4WD? It looks great and I am glad to hear it was comfy. The big complaint I have heard about Kias is that the seats are very uncomfortable. Sounds like they have improved the comfort.
It was 4WD and the seats were really nice, no complaints at all on them, even that third row. The driver’s seat has like 18 adjustments you can make.
This vehicle would be perfect for me! I have 2 daughters, 3 dogs and 3 cats, so I definitely have a big family! LOL!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It would work out perfectly for your family! There is so much room in the back for dogs if you don’t have the third row of seats up. We could easily fit the three of us and another dog or two back there!
Treats, cars, you guys test it all!
We have expanded a bit away from food. Wait for Thurs…it will be something totally new for us 😉 Let’s say, I’m thrilled, Bailie is not.
Nice ride
Lily & Edward
It was an awesome ride! I could fit like everyone I know in there too!
The navigation system showing what the exits will look like would save me SOOOO much stress on the interstates! You sure look amazing behind the heated steering wheel! ♥ ♥ XXOO Bentley
It was a great car! Once again, I didn’t expect it to be all that nice, but it was awesome and the nav is the best I’ve ever seen!
That’s some ride fur sure and the GPS can take you right to the Barkery to pick up some treats!
It makes getting around real easy! I bet even cats could drive to pick up their own nip!
Wow, I thought my Rav was pretty awesome, until I read about this! That Kia has a lot of bells and whistles that I’m missing…heated steering wheel & back seats, panoramic sunroof…..that is all really something. It looks like you had a lot of fun during that week of trying it out, and look at all of the friends you can fit in there!
In the winter the heated seats and steering wheel are so nice! Mom loves a huge sunroof too because it makes it nice and bright in the car. It was really a sweet ride!
It looks like a sweet ride!
It was super nice. I can’t really think of anything it was missing!
Looks great
It’s a really nice SUV!
Very cool ride
This SUV had it all. So much stuff, we couldn’t even begin to use it all!
That is one awesome ride, Emma. It looks bunches like our car!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Then I think you all have some smart looking wheels! The four of you could live in this one it was so big in the back where we ride!
What a thorough review Emma. We’re in the market for a new car, but Harley, Jax and I are leaning towards a soft top Jeep. Great to zip around town with.
My mom is more the practical type with cars, not so adventurous. Remember to seat belt them in, especially when the top is off. Mom will never forget the day Katie jumped out of the moving convertible because she saw her friend. Thankfully, she was wearing her seat belt which kept her dangling off the side of the car until they stopped. She never did things like that, so one never knows. Best to be safe.
Hubba-bubba…nice wheels. 😉
Really nice wheels! Too bad they remembered to pick it up again at the end of the week.
I have a Hyundai Tucson and it’s a wee bit small form my needs. I’m going to keep this vehicle in mind when the time comes for a new one!
This one is so spacious! It was too big for us, but it was fun having the space for a bit.
what a sweet ride
Very nice car and so much space.
