Today I’m excited to tell you about the latest product I’ve been testing, the Petzi Treat Cam! Imagine being away from home and having the capability to not only watch your pets, but take photos of them, talk to them, and give them treats, all from your smartphone! Pretty cool concept isn’t it?
Letβs have a look at the Petzi Treat Cam
Petzi Treat Cam Contents
The Petzi Treat Cam comes with everything you need to get started using it. There is a simple instruction card, the power cord, screws and anchors if you are interested in mounting it on the wall, two bags of dog treats and one bag of cat treats. I was ready to get started.
It was obvious to me right off the bat, this would be a tasty project. Any product that comes with treats is wonderful in my book!
Petzi Treat Cam Set Up
I took out the handy set up card to get started. According to this sheet, set up is three simple steps. I started by downloading the free Petzi App on my smart phone. It is available for Android and IPhones. Next I plugged in the Petzi Treat Cam.
In the Petzi App menu I pawed on the Petzi Treat Cam option to get to the set up screen for my cam.
This is the screen that finds the Petzi Treat Cam in your network. All you have to do is put in your WiFi information and password and it will be ready to go. We had some trouble as I had to take a call during set up and it couldn’t find my cam after the call. I had Mom call customer service and they were so helpful! Within a minute, Dan explained how to reset the Petzi Treat Cam and we got all connected. It’s always nice when there is good help just a call away!
Loading Up The Petzi Treat Cam
To fill the Petzi Treat Cam with treats, you need to remove the front cover. On the top you will see the opening for the treats. When you are looking for replacement treats, keep in mind they should be hard treats, less than an inch long. If you use smaller treats, it will dispense a lot more with each turn. I emptied one bag of the Milk Bone treats into the machine and put the cover back on.
How To Use The Petzi Treat Cam
Now I have my smartphone app ready to go. I have set up my profile and I’m ready to use this Petzi Treat Cam. I took this screenshot at night so you can see the infrared camera works as well. There are six options here. The top left is to return to the app menu, the pink bell causes a ring on the Petzi Treat Cam, the green camera takes a photo of what is in front of the camera at that moment. On the right side, the top button allows you to edit settings, the pink bone dispenses treats, and the microphone allows you to talk to your pets while pressing it.
I took a few random photos of the most enthusiastic users at my house – no surprise they are Bailie and cat bro Bert. At our house, we didn’t need more than a few minutes to be trained to the bell and the treats which is nice. The Petzi app is all about being social, so you can share your photos right from the app to the different Petzi albums, or send them out to social media.
To show you the Petzi Treat Cam in action, we set up another video camera to video our interaction with the Petzi Treat Cam. I was first to try it out. I like it, but I wasn’t all that motivated. Bailie was all over it and thinks it is the best thing ever. Cat bro Bert also loves it. We didn’t even put cat treats in the dispenser for Bert, he ate the dog treats! In the video, you can hear the bell noise it makes and the sound of the dispenser.

Yes another way to invade our lives – do we dogs have no privacy anymore π π π
Nope, no privacy, but at least this thing pays out treats!
How cool is that? I loved the video. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
We were a bit concerned about multiple dogs fighting over the treats, but Katie can’t hear and has no interest, I’m not real into it either, so it is all for Bailie and cat bro Bert…the two troublemakers who need watching in the first place.
No, not a good thing in this house. Ducky would bark at it, Shadow would ignore it, and both girls would get sick on the treats if they didn’t fight over them first. No, I think I’d rather stick with the Vimtag.
They are really totally different concepts. This one is more for fun, social sharing, things like that. The Vimtag is for more serious surveillance stuff.
Wowowow!!!! This is so cool! And open in Canada too?? WOOOHOOOOOOOO – finally!!! haha!
I have most definitely entered!!!
α¦ husky hugz α¦ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It really is your week! Merry Christmas to Canada! Good luck!
What a fun idea! That would be great for when your person can’t be home.
This is real fun. Bailie and cat bro Bert are totally focused on it. Me, not so much, but I’m not as food driven.
How SUPER cool is this!?!
Pretty awesome and fun device, isn’t it?
This woman loves to spy on us
Lily & Edward
At least with this type of spy cam, she can pay you for your trouble!
This is such a cool gadget Emma! It’s like you get your very own candy dispenser in your house, but with dog treats. Shiner would probably like it, but I don’t think she’d be able to hear it. I wonder what Callie would think of one of these.
Katie doesn’t really hear at all anymore, so she had nothing to do with it. Cat bro Bert was all into it, almost more than Bailie! Maybe if you put it where Shiner likes to hang out and used it a few times when you are home she would get the concept?
Catching Bailie in the act is well worth the cost alone!
Now that she has been caught, we are going to try using this to reward her if she stops her shredding behavior. We will see how it works out.
What an adorable idea! LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing – hope I win! π
Good luck! It is a lot of fun and we love how the treats shoot out!
OMD we think this may have been invented by SQUIRRELS or Snow Freaks… They are going to be spying on us ALL the time…
There is an idea. Maybe I should develop one of these and have it shoot out squirrels. How fun would that be!
that’s a super invention… I bet not even James Bond has such a fab cam :o)
Anything that doles out food is good in my book!
Hey, I think remote control treats has possibilities!!!
Cat bro Bert highly recommends it!
Bailie GAVE IT A KISS!!! Squeeeeeee!
I hope my dogs don’t find out how much I adore your pack! I’d be very intrigued by how my girls would do, our wee rescue Hay-Li doesn’t care for loud sounds much, but maybe for the positive reinforcement it would help her. I like that the treats scatter, so if more than one dog was near they’d at least have a chance at getting one.
Sometimes it only tosses out one treat, but you can hit the treat button multiple times to keep them coming. It is loud which may scare some dogs, but they may adjust if they are trained around it and find out it gets them treats. Bailie kisses everything. She is a kisser and a hugger.
This looks like such fun!
It’s fun for the human and the pets!
Thank you so much for showing the treat cam off. I’ve always wanted to see how they work and how animals interact with them. You did a great job with the video.
Emma, it looked like you were a little startled by all the mechanical noises before the treat shot out. And I’d worry about Bailie getting one in the eye. She’s awfully close when those things go shooting out.
Hope you enjoy your fun toy.
Thank you! I’m not fond of all the noise, but since it creates food, I dealt with it. I think Bailie is quick enough to get out of the way when the treats shoot out. It is a fun “toy” to have.
I’m afraid Delilah would be more like Bert, except she could take the machine apart. LOL
You would need to hang it on the wall, but then again, your wall might come down as she tries to get it!
That looks pretty cool and fun! I think the noises might freak Sheba and Luke out though. But Luke would probably get over that when he saw treats flying out. I think Cricket would have the most fun with it though, she’s not afraid of noises like those two. I doubt Samantha would have any interest, but you never know!
I would worry a bit about them fighting over the treats though, so I would just be sure to try it out first when we’re home.
Usually it spits out multiple treats which helps, or you can hit the treat button multiple times for more treats. We have not fought over it, but Bailie and Bert are the only ones who really are into it.
What a great idea…
It is a lot of fun.
Woo hoo! I’very been following Petzi for a while so this is an exciting giveaway! You’re a lucky dog Emma!
Oh, you would love this I’m sure! Lots of fun. I’m not as into it as my little sister, but the treats are nice.
love the pictures! Too bad I don’t have wifi that looks way to cool.
Life without WiFi would be a bummer!
Lucky pup Emma! It’s a Brillant idea! I could see who the mischief maker is (the Dane, the Golden or the cat)…or if it’s a team effort. I’m guessing teamwork π
It could very well be a team effort!
Oh wow! That thing is so cool! I’d love to have one!
It is a lot of fun and we love the treat part.
Now this is a camera that we can give our full support to since it gives us treats. βΊ
Get paid to get spied on, not too bad!
Love the video, Emma! That was so cute. It really spits those treats out fast! They practically hit Bailie right in the face! Haha. It was cute watching Bert as well. Beamer would be obsessed with this.
Do you think pets would knock it off the table? Would it work on the ground? Seems like Beamer would try to knock it down. Maybe it’s heavier than it looks.
I don’t think on the ground would be good because it couldn’t throw the treats really at that level. It comes with parts so you can hook it on the wall which would be another option. We want to move it around, so the table was our choice. It could easily be knocked over or off onto the floor, though. Bert never got that far, but given enough time he might.
We would love to have this…at least the treat part.
A pet can overlook the surveillance for treats I think.
Will soft treats not fit? Mr. N won’t eat the hard ones…
I think soft treats get mushed up in the process of being taken in and moved to be thrown, and they would also get hard while waiting to be tossed out. It said hard treats, so we never tried soft ones.
WANT WANT WANT
I wonder if the chickens would like one?
thanks for yet another amazing review!! This sounds pawesome!! DakotasDen
You’re welcome. This one is a lot of fun and treats are always a good thing.
I bet brown dawgs would destroy that trying to get the treats out…lol.
Cat bro Bert has been trying! Bailie might try, but not Katie and me.
What a fun product! You did an amazing review, Emma. Thanks for the info.
Thank you. It is a fun and useful gadget.
That sure looks like a fun thing to have. Bet it is very popular with the animals. You all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Bailie and our cat bro Bert are pretty hooked on it. Loads of fun!
this would be perfect for aoife because she is a cookie monster. i hope i can win it for her.
Good luck to you. It is a lot of fun!
Oh boy!! The girls would LOVE to win this!!
No dog wants a spy cam, but if it gives out treats, we don’t mind so much. Good luck!
