There are three very important steps to take in preparation for Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve. It is a simple process, but if these three steps are not taken, it could spell disaster!
The first, and most important thing to remember when getting ready for Santa’s arrival is to extinguish any fire in your fireplace. Santa will not stop if he has to come down a chimney into a fire. Do this well before going to bed so he doesn’t land on hot ashes!
Bailie and I like to split up the second step, which is putting out the snacks. Bailie prefers to tend to the needs of Rudolph and the rest of the reindeer. This year, she put out a nice bunch of fresh carrots as well as a package of reindeer snacks. They are working, so they only need a light snack.
I’m in charge of Santa. I like to give him some milk in a festive mug, some nice cookies, and a candy cane to help him keep his energy up on the long journey around the world.
The third and final step is to go to bed. Don’t make the mistake of trying to catch a glimpse of Santa in action (that is what my Vimtag is for, which I will set up in secret). There will be no Santa’s arrival if you are up waiting. Remember, he knows when you are sleeping, and he knows when you are awake! Yes, Bailie is trying to pull a fast one with the fancy shades, but she can’t fool Santa!

See you Christmas morning!
Today we are joining some of our friends for a Pawlidays Blog Hop! This hop is being hosted by Dory, Bentley and Pierre, Murphy and Stanley, and Oz , and Sugar.
Great tips! Merry Christmas!
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Great advice. Especially make sure the fire is out and all hot ashes are in a safe metal container.
We surely don’t want Santa to burn his behind, nor do we want the house to burn down!
Oh oh – Santa will know if you are secretly trying to video him – he knows everything remember !
I don’t know if the video tape thing will work, but we are going to give it a try.
Good advice girls! We’ll gave to make sure we are Santa ready too!
This is one of the most important nights of the year, so we have to be sure things are ready.
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too!
It look like you are ready! Hope Santa is good to you girls.
Katie and I have not worries, but Bailie should be on pins and needles, although she seems to not be worrying at all!
Those are excellent tips for Santa preparation! I hope you, Bailie, Katie and your whole family has a very Merry Christmas, Emma!
Thanks. You and your family have a Merry Christmas as well.
Thank you for the great advice. I am still young and need directions in life lessons. I hope I do not bark at him if I should happen to hear him sliding down the chimney. I need to ask the mom if she has any carrots for his reindeer. Merry Christmas Eve! XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
Never bark at him, just pretend you didn’t hear anything and keep sleeping. Rudolph and his team love the carrots.
The Vimtag won’t fool Santa, either, Emma. You better turn it off before you go to bed tonight! ????
Really? I sure wanted to hook it up to capture him, but it seems from many of the comments the thought is that it would not be a good idea.
Y’all look terrific and those were great tips. Merry Christmas Eve sweet friends!
Merry Christmas you kitties! Hope Santa brings something special for the feral kitties you all have around.
These are all very important steps and we will be doing the same here at our house. I hope that Santa brings you all LOTS of goodies. ♥ Merry Christmas Eve, my sweetie! ♥ ♥
With the weather you are having, the fireplace isn’t really an issue I would think. Maybe leave some ice water for the jolly old fellow? Merry Christmas Eve to you and your family!
Brilliant advice sweet girls! Merry Christmas, and I hope all your Christmas wishes come true!
You all have a wonderful Christmas as well!
HA, the hot ashes tip is excellent!!
Santa would not be pleased landing on hot ashes and burning his behind, not to mention his red pants!
Great tips. Though Ernie says he’s gonna try and stay up to see Santa Paws. He better not…and ruin Catmas for me. ~Wally
He better not. It is definitely not worth the risk!
We’re ready. Norma Jean is too excited to sleep so we might have to knock her out. Merry Christmas!
Oh dear! Take her out for a good romp and then she will sleep!
The best advice I read yet! Have a wonderful Christmas.
Thanks. I think I covered the essentials.
you are all too adorable! These were some super great tips!!! I keep forgetting about the reindeer, love your reasoning “they are working so they only need a light snack”…well…..Santa is working TOO, why does he get to eat and drink like a gluttonous hog? BOL!! Imagine all of the cookies/candy the fat guy consumes in one night! Guess he has to maintain his “figure” BOL BOL BOL!!! DakotasDen
Santa only has to hop in and out of the sled, those poor reindeer have to haul his big behind around the world all night!
OMD those are Three EXCELLENT thingys to REMEMBER and DO Correctly… to ENSURE that Santa Paws will leave PLENTY of Toys and SNACKS…
WE would like to wish YOU and YOURS the most MERRY CHRISTMAS EVER!!
This is one night a dog definitely doesn’t want to mess up! Merry Christmas to you all and your family too!
That is all great advice, and you girls are definitely ready!! Santa must be on his way now! Merry Christmas to all of you from all of us!
I started tracking him on the Santa cam earlier today. I always like to follow his progress so I know when I need to be in bed. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Eve

Great photos & tips!! Merry Christmas!!
Thank you. It is pretty basic stuff, but a dog doesn’t want to mess it up!
Those are important steps. I am sure Santa was happy that you made everything so nice for him.
Santa and his reindeer team always appreciate the kindness.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. Golden Woofs
Merry Christmas, Sugar and family!
