Everyone knows, fresh water for dogs and cats is so important! At my house with three dogs and two cats, we drink a lot of water, and we were all excited to test out these super cool Torus bowls from Heyrex! At the end of my post today, I’m giving away one bowl and a package of filters!
The Torus bowls by Heyrex are designed in New Zealand, they have a twelve month warranty, and dispense the filtered water without the use of a battery or power! They get their name Torus from Latin meaning, hollow circular ring. The bowls are made from food grade polypropylene and are not coated with BPA or any other substance.
Torus bowls provided fresh water for dogs and cats in two sized bowls – one and two liter. Both bowls work in the same manner and are available in many colors. Water is stored in the storage ring (it actually looks a bit like a neck pillow for humans). Fresh water comes out of the storage ring passing through the carbon filter to remove impurities, and landing in the bowl area. The water is then kept high enough to allow easy drinking but low enough to minimize water spills and splashes.
Setting up your Torus bowl is super easy! In just a few steps and minutes you can start drinking!
- Unpack the bowl.
- Upwrap the carbon filter and insert it into the bowl.
- Fill up the bowl at the sink to the top of the filter.
- Replace the cap and turn it to the locked position.
- Place your bowl where you would like to keep it.
- Turn the cap to the drink position, water will flow in, start drinking.
I was right there and ready to test out the water as soon as it was flowing and it was good. One thing Mom loves about this bowl is she can really tell how much water we are drinking. We have several bowls in the house, but this one gets a refill about once a day! Your pet’s body is made of about 80% water and needs roughly one cup of water per ten pounds per day. This means I need about four cups of water a day!
For my sisters and I the two liter bowl is just perfect! At first we thought it was not working correctly as there wasn’t a lot of water in the bowl, but it is supposed to be that way.
One of the beauties of the Torus bowls is you can provide fresh water for your dogs and cats while on the go! Simple turn the cap to the lock position, pour out any remaining water in the bowl and you can take it along with you! It won’t leak out, and the cavity keeps the water cool. We are using the two liter bowl at home and the one liter bowl for taking along with us to our sports training classes and events.
The one liter bowl is great for smaller dogs and cats too! Kitty sis Sophie is picky about water and loves the filtered water. She also likes it when it auto fills, the moving water is something she always enjoys.
This is no surprise really, but cat bro Bert has a blast with the bowl. Bert is a typical guy, trying to figure out how it works. He was happy to drink but also wanted to get his paws wet and play in the water a bit!
No worries about the bowl sliding around or tipping over either. Each bowl has rubber feet to keep it firmly planted where it belongs!
Whether you are looking for a water bowl, for home, your car, boat, RV, or travel in general, the Torus bowls from Heyrex are perfect! I love mine, and Mom is not even worried about me having it in my bed since I have the cap in the locked position!
Now for the fun stuff! I get to giveaway one of these super cool bowls to one lucky entrant! The winner can choose either the one or two liter bowl, and will also receive a package of filters! All you have to do is enter through the giveaway widget below!

It sounds like a great bowl. We travel with a lot more water than 2 liters though since we have three large dogs. I can see where it would be great for smaller to medium size dogs as they travel.
When we take road trips we have a gallon or two in the car with us and a couple bowls, but the small one is perfect for us when we go to nose work class or nose work trials. We like the one at home with the 2 liters, it just gets filled at least once a day.
How cool is that bowl?! Totally pawsome! Everybody looks adorable in their photos – especially you, Emma. XOXO Sparkle the PBGV
It is a super cool bowl! We are all loving drinking out of it right now and are barely touching our other water bowl.
We have this bowl as well, and we absolutely LOVE it! It is so refreshing to know that the dogs are getting nice clean water. It was something I never thought about much before (filtered water for pets) but I was very glad to discover Torus!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
It is great! I guess since we are happy drinking out of a puddle on the street, many don’t think about clean water for dogs, but now we sure do. Our water is filtered, but Mom drinks hers straight out of the tap…she truly does treat us better than herself!
This definitely looks like something we could use both at the house and on the road!! Great review Emma!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
You guys definitely would love this bowl. Right now we all drink from it and ignore our other water bowl.
Between all the romps, classes and cooking, you guys need to stay well hydrated.
And the heat in the winter drying us out in the house too. These bowls are great.
Those bowls really are so nice looking! We never go anywhere but we do love our water!
Our kitties love drinking out of it right at home. Fresh water and cats is always a “thing”.
Very interesting, I love how it is good for on the road as well! 🙂
Believe me, Mom was flipping those full dishes around and there was no spillage. We love them. They are pretty light weight too, except for if they are full of water.
These bowls are right up our Doodle-alley. Love them. We’re always on the go and I like tie filtration ability. Great find Emma. Crossing paws that we win!
Good luck to you guys! These are awesome bowls.
Fresh Water tastes SOOOOOOO good… Of course, now and then, a drink from a MUD PUDDLE is also refreshing.
Mud puddles are like flavored water…to be savored now and then.
I have read several articles about the Torus bowls and would love to have one for the boys. My problem with other bowls like this is the electricity needed. I love that it isn’t necessary with the Torus! Great review, sweetie-pie! ♥ P.S. I would love to snuggle with you during a snowstorm ☺ Yours, Bentley
No electricity, just gravity, so they probably don’t work in outerspace, but as long as you stick around the earth, you are good. You guys would love it, hope you win!
What a great bowl! Thanks for the review and for hosting the giveaway!
Thanks for entering. They are really nice bowls.
This bowl looks awesome!
Lily & Edward
It is really nice. We were once again surprised as we didn’t expect to fall in love with it.
I love this product; especially for my cat. I’m always trying new things to get him to drink more water and I think he’d like this bowl.
We have a fountain and this bowl for the cats and they both drink so much more water now. It is great!
This sounds perfect for our traveling all summer long!
They are super easy to fill, pack and go, and they don’t leave a wet mess either.
Very cool bowl and filter. We tried a filter/fountain a few years back, but our guys seemed a bit afraid of it. This one looks much better because it resembles a normal bowl so maybe they would give it a try.
We have a fountain too, but it is more of a cat attraction at our house. We dogs are loving this bowl.
Pretty cool! Gotta look into this! Thanks Emma
It is super practical, and because there isn’t a lot of deep water in the bowl, those of us with long ears don’t have super soaked ears if they happen to fall in while we are drinking. We love it.
The mom just checked the bowl out at Amazon.com. She must not really love me….she days the only way we can have one is if we win it in your contest! Feeling very unloved, Sparkle
Oh dear. I hope you entered and can win. We didn’t check on pricing, but they are definitely super sturdy, yet light weight. Very nice bowls.
That looks like a really neat bowl! It’s cool that Bert likes it, too!
We are most thrilled that Sophie likes it as she is crazy about fresh water.
That’s pretty cool! One thing that I’m starting to learn with water bowls and filters is that I need to change them a lot with the Newfies. It’s starting to get expensive!
Hmmm…could it be due to the slobber??? The only drawback to nice clean filtered water is the filter expense, but I guess it is something you have to decide either you will use them or not. You could use these without filters, but then it wouldn’t be filtered water.
We’ve been wanting one of these bowls! We really liked our PetSafe fountain, but the fact that it has to be plugged in made it impossible to put it where all of the pets would use it.
We have a fountain too, but put it in the master bathroom because of the tile floor, the cord, and that is where Miss Sophie likes to have fresh water from the tub, shower, etc. This bowl is great as there is nothing but the bowl, and it does not move after you set it down. The no skid feet keep it super solidly in place!
Mom was interested in this post. I love fresh water. When she fills up our bowl, no matter where I am in the house, I come and have the first sip. She was also so impressed with the picture of you at the sink filling up the bowl–she asked me why I don’t do that! Yeesh. Here’s hoping we win! Your doodle friend Dash
We have both bowls….and love them! One we won on Jenna’s blog and the other we were sent to review………they are our faves by far! Great review and good luck to all who enter! DakotasDen
We love them both too!
I’d like Mr. N to drink more fresh water so this would be great!
Now that we have these bowls, we rarely drink from our old non filtered bowl. Right now we have water in several places around the house so Katie has easy access, but we choose the filtered.
This is a awesome review Emma, I hope I win, I travel a lot with the dogs and like to have one that doesn’t spill out all over the place.
The two liter one would be great for what your pack does.
The people on Amazon sure love these bowls! (They’re about $55.) We use a non-electric refillable bowl that I use with Brita water but have dropped the darn thing about 5 times in the 5 feet I have to carry it! ? So the locking mechanism on this would be quite nice!
I loved the pic of you filling the bowl Emma, what a helper you are!
I love to help out whenever I can. The lock really works, we tested it out in all sorts of positions and moves and there was no leakage.
The Torus bowls from Heyrex would be perfect to take on our boat in the summer plus using it everyday at home.!
Oh yeah! Even on rough waters, the amount in the bowl at any given time wouldn’t slosh out! Good luck!
The widget never came up to enter the giveaway!
It is up and running now. Not sure what happened. Please give it another shot!
I like that you can carry the bowl with you. Knowing where your water is coming from is very important, especially when traveling.
Just fill it up and turn the knob to lock and you are ready to roll. We love these!
The bowls look great. I’m as fussy as our cats about the water I drink – we all insist on filtered (although puddles are good, obviously!)
My sisters and I aren’t real fussy, but we do seem to drink more of the filtered stuff. The cats are the picky ones about water here.
Wow, Emma…that’s one pawsome water bowl! 😉
These bowls are so nice and we are all drinking more water all the time now.
I might have to look into getting one for Sam though he drinks enough water to be a fish!
Two liters is a good amount. We really like the bowls and tend to choose drinking out of them rather than our other plain water bowl.
Mom is very excited about this bowl and is looking into getting one for us too!
Kitty sis Sophie loves fresh water and loves the smaller bowl, and even cat bro Bert, who rarely is seen drinking water is seen a lot at the Torus bowl.
We are getting one for sure Mom says! Thanks so much for introducing us Emma!
OMC I am gonna have to tell Mama I needs one of these!!
xoxo,
Matilda
We all love these bowls and are drinking more water too.
That bowl would be great to take to the park. Water and a bowl in one and easy to carry.
The widget came up but it said that ht e it ended.
That giveaway ended a long time ago. I just linked to the post for information on the bowl.
