This week is the three year anniversary and the final FitDog Friday Blog Hop. It is rather sad to say farewell to a blog hop we participated in regularly, and eventually became a cohost of. Times change in the blogging world, and it is time to move on. No worries, though, I will still be a fit dog, and continue to post a lot about canine fitness!
As a farewell send off to a hop that has been near and dear to My GBGV Life I thought it would be fun to look back at some of the most popular and some of the monumental posts over the past three years.
My first FitDog Friday post was on April 19, 2013 when Bailie’s breeder brought a couple GBGV puppies to my house for a play date. It was tempting for Mom to keep one, but she resisted. Little did she know just months down the road, Bailie would join our family.
Another milestone post was on August 1, 2014 which was my first FitDog Friday as a cohost. That week we had cousin Lena staying with us which added extra fun to our yard. I want to thank SlimDoggy and To Dog With Love for asking me to cohost. It has really been a great time and I am sad to see this hop end. We have learned so much through all the different posts with tips and stories over the past few years!
Thanks to little Bailie joining our family in September 2013, one of my most popular posts was the “double wide” tunnel games. Bailie and I had such a blast in our tunnel.
Katie and I also helped Bailie pass her obedience class. Nothing helps a puppy learn more than learning by example. This was another wildly popular post in January 2014.
FitDog Friday also has helped Katie immensely. We have discovered so many tips on products and exercises for senior dogs with arthritis and muscle problems. She wouldn’t be doing as well as she is without the tips!
Our Nose Work and Tracking activities have been pretty popular posts. I have a special section on my home page for these posts too, so no one will miss out on them! Getting involved in a fun sport with your dog is such a wonderful thing! My first Nose Work Title post was very well visited last year.
January 1, 2016 was a big post when I offered up some of my favorite tips for keeping fit in the winter months. We just love winter at our house!
I could go on and on with my favorite posts from FitDog Fridays of the past. It has been a wonderful time but it is time for a rest! I always love seeing what other dogs are up to and how they are staying fit. I will always be grateful to blogging for my nose work career. I’ve said it before, and will say it again, I first read about nose work on Jodi’s blog, Heart Like A Dog, and thought it sounded fun. Now here I am with several titles and looking to get even more. I can can honestly say, reading what others do for fitness has changed our lives at my house, and for the better.
Thank you to everyone who has participated in the FitDog Friday Hop the past three years! We hope to continue to see you on the fitness tracks in Blogville!
I think you’ve done an excellent job as co-host and I am going to miss the fit dog friday hop!
It will be strange without it, but I think many of us will continue with our fitness posts on our own.
I am really going to miss the FitDog Friday hop! My Fridays are going to feel lost and empty without it! Kudos to you and your fellow hosts for hosting such a fantastic hop for such a long time.
It is sad it is coming to an end, but everyone can still post their fitness ideas and news, just without the hop.
It is really cool how much we’ve learned from all the blogs in the hop. We’re going to miss the hop too, but will still keep with up with our pals!
Definitely! We are not leaving Blogville by any means!
it was a fabulous hop, I learnt a lot… and my momma is still a fan of that bottle belt :o) do you think a belt is better than a camelbak?
We have only had the bottle belt, so I can’t really say. Mom likes the bottles because it makes it easy to monitor the drinking amounts and times. I don’t know it that would be possible with the pack.
I will always think of Fit Dog Friday when I read your Friday Blogs. Thanks for the memories… XOXO Sparkle
Thank you. We will still be doing our fitness posts, but maybe on other days too sometimes.
Great post Emma! Great series. Congrats on a great run (ha! punny). Happy Weekend. your doodle friend Dash
You scared me there. I thought you watched us out running this morning, LOL! Happy weekend to you too.
Boot camp never looked so good!
It is a serious boot camp around here! No wonder we are always so worn out!
Thanks for being such a gracious cohost Emma – you and your sisters are great examples of keeping fit no matter what your age, size or energy levels!
We do our best. It has been a fun three years, but our fitness will continue with or without the hop.
A well done series, Emma. Kudos. α¦
Thank you.
We’ve learned so much about fitness from you and your sisters. I’m glad to hear you’ll still be sharing your adventures!
We hope we have inspired at least a few readers to get into fitness, at least a bit. Hopefully you and Barley will continue with your goals!
We will miss this hop but never your posts!! Thank you for co hosting such a terrific blog hop!!
Thank you. We will continue posting about fitness 1-2 times a week as well as our other posts about this and that.
What a great run the hop had, and you had so many fun posts! We know your blog will always be a place to come for great fitness inspiration, information and stories. We enjoy reading about the nosework the most and hope we’ll have our own stories to share about that one of these days!
We know a couple dogs who have started nose work because of our blog which is so awesome! We can’t wait to hear more about all the new adventures in your new home.
We haven’t heard why FitDog Friday is ending, but we haven’t participated for some time. There’s only so much you can do with walking to the park every day. But I did appreciate it bringing up the importance of fitness in pets. Love Dolly
It has been around for three years and the past months the participation has really dropped off. Hops in general are kind of dropping off, so we decided it was a good time to end it.
Y’all hopped better than most and I can see why you’re all so very fit!
Actually, Bailie and I do hop like cats when we chase and hunt.
That was a great look back. Congrats on a great hop!
It’s sad to see it end, but it is time. May as well end before it really dies.
Hi Y’all!
Even though we haven’t been around much lately, my Human and I think about stuff we’ve done that would have made a great fit dog post. So sad to say good-bye.
As the late blooming azaleas and dog wood trees come to an end and temps start soaring into the 80’s more and more frequently my days to swim are numbered. My Humans thought they saw a gator laying up in the inlet this morning.
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Everyone gets busy and things change. It was just time to put an end to the hop before it died on its own.
We have enjoyed your Fit Dog Friday posts. I am sure you will keep us updated on how you’re keeping such a girlish figure, my love. β₯ β₯ Bentley
I will definitely keep up on my fitness posts. We are in trial season, so lots of fun stuff coming up.
We have also really enjoyed your “Fit Friday” posts Emma, and hope that you keep them up even if the hop is ending!
Smileys!

I’ll definitely keep on posting about fitness, although it may not always happen on Fridays.
What a great bunch of memories! And yes, it will be weird not seeing everyone’s Fit dog Friday posts!!
Change can be a good thing. I’ll still be posting about fitness, but not always on Fridays.
We loved Fit Dog Friday. My human mommy is such a believer in doggy health and fitness. She’s even started doing agility work with my little sister . . . more to tire her out than anything else. Turns out the agility work seems to be more exhausting for Mommy!
Hopefully after three years, everyone can continue on fitness even without the hop.
Sad to see it come to a close, looking forward to your fitness posts.
It is a bit sad, but maybe other fun new things will pop up.
Thanks for hosting the hop, Emma! We’ve enjoyed being a part of it.
It is sad to see it go, but it had a good run. We enjoyed it so much and hope everyone continues to work on and post about fitness on their own.
