Spring has now sprung in my neck of the woods which means it is spring cleaning time. Not only do we have to spiff up the house and the yard, I also need to get my furs ready for the next season. This week, I headed off to see my person at the Fancy Paws Salon!
I have to say I’m a bit embarrassed when I go to the spa because my furs are always a total mess. Mom tries to keep up, but I don’t like being groomed and after a couple months, I need “professional” help. I spend about four hours getting my furs stripped, ears cleaned out, nails done, the works. When Mom arrives to get me, I’m usually still on the table getting my finishing touches.
Back home, we took a few photos of my look after a good spring cleaning. I’m super white, and really fluffy.
I’m a bit unhappy because I have to get my inner ears plucked and that hurts. I shake my head a lot for about a day because of that.
Even my beard gets trimmed up, and washed off. My lips also get shaved to help prevent any return of my lip fold dermatitis.
I think I’m looking pretty sharp. Spring cleaning really feels good. I think I left about ten pounds of stripped furs at the spa! Do you go in for a spring cleaning too?
looking beautiful too – it is nice to get some of that winter coat out and let the air circulate
My furs need a good thorough stripping every 2-3 months and it feels so nice when it is done.
You look beautiful, Emma! I go and get a “spring cleaning” about every 6 weeks. It is amazing how white my furs look. XOXO Sparkle
I could go that often, but the stripping is expensive, so we make it every 10-12 weeks usually.
You get the really professional grooming. I do not get stripped, but I do not get shaved close to my skin. Sparkle
No shaving for me. I do get my lips shaved and the area around my ear canal, but the rest is stripped down. It takes about 4 hours and really wears me out.
Always love seeing Emma with a new, bright white coat. Perfect and shiny for spring.
Actually, it isn’t a new coat. My spa person is just real good at finding and cleaning up my original coat π
you look like Miss Spring! and I’m sure you will be the eyecatcher in your hood :o)
I do get many more compliments from the humans when I’m not so shaggy and dirty. Dogs I know don’t seem to care how my furs look.
Emma you look AMAZING!!! Ohhhhh you made me happy too! Your Mama is so adept and knowledgeable about all things dog and I am sooooooooo happy that she doesn’t keep up with your “furs” well……….lol!!! Dakota doesn’t love to be brushed and he goes to the groomer every few weeks. I am always embarrassed when he goes because I often think that they must think that I am AWFUL!!!! Dakota likes being groomed, but just isn’t a fan of regular brushing. I see all of these pristine and perfectly groomed Shelties online and I feel like such a loser! Thank you for sharing!!!! You just look marvelous!! xoxo DakotasDen
I get a bath every month or so but even the bath isn’t as good as what my spa person does with shampoo! Mom does keep up with the tangles and stuff, but I just start to look so super shaggy after about two months. Getting furs stripped is pricey, so I only go in about four times a year.
Be still my heart. β₯ β₯ β₯ You look so beautiful that I can hardly keep from drooling on Mom’s computer. Sending love and kisses, Bentley
Thank you Bentley. It is a lot of work hanging out at the groomer all afternoon, but it is worth it in the end.
Looking good
Thank you. It feels good to be cleaned up.
Mom thinks we are part of spring cleaning too
Lily & Edward
What is up with the humans???
You look amazing Emma! You are absolutely right, we need Spring Clean Up too! π Look at how fluffy and white you are!!! π
I’m hoping to tone down the white soon with some rolling in good stuff, but for now, the world can enjoy looking at me with sunglasses.
You look gorgeous, as usual!
Thank you. A bit less scruffy!
How beautiful you look, Emma Girl.
Thank you. Mom says I clean up nicely.
You’re looking beautiful Emma.
It feels good to get all cleaned up now and then.
Lookin good! Momma just does my groomin at home so I don’t gotta go to a spa – but I does have to get it done every week. π
I get groomed all the time, but I need a seriously big clean up at the spa every few months.
You look beautiful, Emma. Well, you always do, but can I say beautiful-er?
I believe more beautiful might work π
My mommy said I was being silly:)p
But you ARE beautiful inside and out!
You’re looking really good, Emma! Your groomer does a great job!
She is really good at what she does and I like her even though I never like to go to the spa. I put on a show for my mom.
Great post! I saw that picture of you freshly groomed on your Instagram
Thank you. I did post in ig too π
You look all ready for Spring Emma!! We unfortunately have to go to the spa every 6 weeks or so…ugh!
Smileys!

I can get by with two months easy, but then my furs start looking all scruffy so we try to make it every 10-12 weeks. It takes a long time to strip my coat, so I don’t want to go that often.
Emma, you do NOT look happy! But you do look awesome. It is so tough to keep up with you long furred dogs. Sheba is looking a mess too. We had decided not to put her through the stress of going to the spa, but it’s killing me! I like her to look pretty, just like your Mom likes you to!
I start to look pretty scruffy after about two months, so at that point we call for an appt. and get in a few weeks later. I don’t mind the groomer, but when Mom is around I play up the mad/sad dog thing.
You look so nice and fresh for spring! Mr. N is scheduled for his spring cleaning later this month.
It does feel good to get the extra furs off.
You look amazingly sharp and quite beautiful, you made our Friday!
Thank you.
You sure look spiffy girl! And *gulp* TEN pounds? MOL!
Ok, well maybe not really 10 lbs, but it was a big pile of fur!
You look so pretty all spiffed up! My girls get groomed every six weeks, they could go longer except for Car-Li’s ears get too hairy and at risk for infection (as you well know) if she’s not there on time, her nails grow like weeds too.
We love our groomer, she’s worked so well around Hay-Li’s fear of confinement, she lets her run free now keeping her panic free. As well as managing Car-Li’s shyness, and Bay-Li’s narcissism. My most favorite moment was when I was debating keeping Hay-Li more of a puppy cut than shaved, when shaved I think she looks too skinny, so when asking our groomer’s opinion she replied “I think Hay-Li looks cute with ANY haircut!” And my heart melted, right answer groomer Pat, thanks for treating my girls like the princesses they are! ???
My ear hair gets pretty thick by 2-3 months, but my ear cleaner keeps the infections away, so I don’t have to have it plucked out more often. I used to have it done once a month but still got infections. I love my ear cleaner!
You look totally amazing, Emma! Sam knows all about the ear plucking thing and hates it, but I try to do it often enough to keep it from building up and not be so painful. Enjoy the weekend! α¦
Mom can’t do it by herself because I squirm so much. We let the groomer do it, but it is not fun.
You clean up mighty fine Emma – Your boyfriends have an appointment this Monday. They are looking like shabby doodle sheep #awful
I look alright and then boom! One day Mom says that is it, you need to get to the spa asap!
Wowza your looking great!
My groomer does a really good job with my furs.
You look nice and clean. maybe you could find a mud puddle somewhere….lol.
I’ve been working on finding some good stuff to roll in.
