With Memorial Day behind us, it’s officially grilling season. What dog doesn’t love the smells and tastes of grilled food? Lucky for me, I received the Merrick Seasonal Recipe, Hot Off The Grillยฎ, to test out! I wasted no time and got the cans right on the grill!*
The cans get real hot on the grill! Don’t burn your paws! Make sure and use a pot holder or tongs to handle the cans!
When I was pretty sure the meals were done, I did what every good chef does, I tasted the meal to make sure the temperature was just right!
A real chef never eats with her guests, but because I was hungry, I opted to try out a meal in my own bowl before the guests arrived. I love the chicken, white potatoes, bacon + cheddar cheese all in a nice gravy! Big chunks of meat are always welcomed by my taste buds, and Hot Off The Grill is grain free too!
I set up my table for the guests. Every guest has their own place complete with a bowl of water and a meal of Hot Off The Grill.
While I was inside cleaning up, my sister Bailie saw the food and decided to help herself! I find it a bit rude to not wait for everyone, but she said she couldn’t help herself!
That girl can sure dig in! Her mouth is some kind of suction machine I think! Look at that glorious chicken in the gravy…and did I mention BACON + Cheddar cheese? Oh my!
What did Bailie think of the meal? I think as always, her tongue tells it all!
Remember, this is a Limited Edition Merrick Seasonal Recipe! Hot Off The Grill won’t be around forever, so send your human out to stock up asap! With it being grilling season, every #BestDogEver needs this mealtime staple on hand!
*Disclaimer: Don’t put the cans on the grill. The cans on the grill in this post are just for fun purposes, and the grill was not turned on at any time.

sounds like some tasty food indeed
It is good stuff!
Glad to see other dogs eating at the table. We let Schooner and Skipper eat at the table with us sometimes. They love eating outside with us. I need to pick up some Hot off the Grill for Schooner and Skipper. Thanks for the review!
Sometimes I think we eat at the table more than Mom does. She is always eating at her desk or while wandering around. Good stuff, you better get some to try!
Emma I’m glad you got a bowl for yourself before your guests came… I have some doubts if guest Bailie would leave some crumbs behind :O)
Bailie is an expert member in the clean dog bowl club. She leaves nothing behind!
Crikey Emma …. You’re a great hostess, aye? That’s a very attractive table setting and you only serve the best of foods! Waters a bit boring though! Maybe a wee drop or two next time, aye?
Sometimes we break out the Bowser Beer, but we are big water fans. The colorful bowls help make it look a bit more interesting.
Hot or not, it does look pretty darn yummy!
Cat bro Bert approves of it too.
The disclaimer at the end was a big relief. I was worried the doggies would burn their tongues! Whew!!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
These days a dog has to protect humans with some common sense verbiage! We don’t want anyone grilling cans and having explosions.
Oh my dog, I hope no-one would actually grill the can of dog food, but you were still very wise to warn them! ๐
My mom says for many common sense has flown out the window these days. I wanted to cover my furry behind, just in case.
Merrick’s seasonal foods are always so much fun and TASTY!!
I can’t wait to dig into the other ones soon!
Oh Bailie, we need to work on those manors!!! Great post Emma, my humans love grilling season!!! And I love your disclosure at the end! Great reminder!!! ๐
My gramma says for some folks, one more brain and it will be lonesome…have to look out for those lacking in commonsense!
What a post with the best pictures! The talent is obviously Emma’s, but your human sure knows how to work a camera.
Thank you. I’ve been training my photographer for some time now and she is always improving.
if you need help eating anything let us know chef

I definitely will, but I think cat bro Bert would want first dibs on any food leftovers.
That flavor of Merrick sounds delicious! I bet the girls would like it! We are really looking forward to BBQ season! Everything tastes better on the BBQ! ๐
I love hanging around sniffin’ the air when Mom grills. Yummy stuff!
Merrick comes up with the best seasonal recipes! We think it was good that you made sure the food was OK for the guests by sampling it first, Emma. That Bailie is another story! ๐
Bailie is still a teenager even though she is having more adult moments.
OMD…What will Merrick come up with next!! We will be enjoying Merrick’s Lil Plates Duck and Lamb recipes while we are road tripping!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Ummm…duck and lamb sounds really tasty! I’ve never met a Merrick food I didn’t like.
As Head Soux Chef at Chez Townsend during dad’s grilling I would say mwah! Love Dolly
That pretty much covers it!
Bacon and cheddar would be a big hit around here!
Anything with bacon has to be good we always say.
Grilling season is the best and you make it yummy and fun
The invention of the grill was a wonderful thing!
We’re licking our chops at the mere thought of it being grilling season.
It is such a good time smelling the grill, hoping something falls off!
I’ve been sniffing around on your website, and I must say I truly love it!! The pictures are so adorable!! Give Emma a big hug!!
So glad you like it. Even though it is tiring, I do enjoy creating my blog quite a bit!
Shadow has been so picky about which canned foods she’ll eat these days that it makes my head spin. For a while she ate whichever Merrick recipe I gave her, then she started turning her nose up at even her favorites. Right now she’s back to the Hills Ideal Balance – which I’m not “thrilled” about but at least it doesn’t upset her system – so I just deal with it as best I can.
Katie loved canned food, but now she eats a few bites and then won’t eat it anymore, so we open the next can, same story. She is just not doing well, not being picky to be picky.
I am truly sorry about poor sweet Katie. I know how it must be breaking your hearts. Both my sweet angel pups – Kissy and Callie – lost most of their appetite as their medical issues grew worse. I actually cried as I read your post – cried for Katie, for all of you, and because of the memories it brought back to my own mind. I know that you are all doing all you can for Katie to keep her happy and as otherwise healthy as possible. Just like hubby and I did for our girls. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. โค๏ธ
Thank you. It is hard when they stop eating and start to shrink away. Losing a friend slowly before your eyes is hard.
I love seeing what Merrick will come up with next! Pug says he is really excited about the addition of CHEESE.
Cheese is a wonderful ingredient, but bacon it over the top in my mind!
I was glad about the disclaimer at the end. I worrried about how you were going to flip the cans. I didn’t see a spatula in the pictures.
I had my tongs and pot holder to handle the hot cans!
