It seems that fair food is the number one attraction at fairs these days. I won’t argue. I love to eat as much as the next dog! Here by my house we only have this little, rinky dink fair, called the Dakota County Fair. But what do they have in Texas? Is it true that everything is bigger in Texas? I also know one should never mess with Texas!
Recently, while I was out doing important hound things, my PR Dog, Bailie took in a wagon load of Merrick Limited Edition Seasonal Recipes. Remember Hot Off The Grill? It was part of this shipment. Another of the Summer Seasonal Recipes is Texas State Fair Stew. I thought it might be fun to take it along to my little fairground. I wanted to show Dakota County what “real” fair food is like!
Right off the bat I noticed the T-Bone Steak on the label. I knew this was going to be a real meaty delight. I often hear about cattle in Texas which means they must have lots of beef! I like the look of the can too!
Since there is often a crowd at a fairgrounds, I loaded up my picnic basket, put on my fair gear, and headed out. My first stop was the horse arena bleachers. I needed a rest after carrying my heavy basket. I couldn’t wait to try it out.
It was a real scorcher of a day, so I elected to set up my picnic sight under a tree in the shade. I put up a nice display for other dogs to see as they passed by.
No dogs were coming by. I took out my picnic cloth and matching bowl which all happen to match my cans of Texas State Fair Stew. I’m getting ready to dig in! The stew is all made in the USA, grain free, and all natural, I can only imagine how good it will be!
Suddenly I was overcome by hunger and my manners went by the wayside. I started to eat my meal right out of the can!
Sorry for behaving like an animal! I got my sanity back and put the Texas State Fair Stew in my bowl. It looks even better than when it’s in the can!
“Quick, camera lady”, I called! “I need a close up of this meal!” Check out the big chunks of beef (go big or go home) and Yukon gold potatoes and carrots in a gravy! Oh my! I don’t recall ever seeing such nice big chunks of beef in my food before!
It’s my lucky day! No dogs came by, so it looks like I get to eat all this glorious food by myself. I definitely am the #BestDogEver and the #luckiestdogever
Sadly, I was not able to eat it all in one sitting. There is a lot of food in one can, and I need to think about my figure! I packed up my supply and started the trek back to my chariot. If you are looking for fair food, try Merrick Texas State Fair Stew! There is nothing fair about it! It is extraordinary!

Wow, those chunks are huge! I don’t know how a dog your size – or even Shadow’s size – is supposed to eat them in one bite! Shadow is such a dainty eater that I’d have to cut those chunks in half.
I am a dainty eater, but they are so super tender, they fall apart. I can easily bite one and it turns into smaller pieces.
please don’t put it back in your basket Emma… I’m on the way to join you for supper :o) that looks super tasty!
Oh, you would love it my friend.
We have been to the Texas State Fair and it is ginormous. They also have delicious foodables. Merrick has the coolest seasonal foods. Maybe we can share some next week. β₯
I bet it is huge. Our state fair is bigger than the county one. I’ve driven through in the wintertime, but am not allowed during the fair. We love Merrick foods!
I wish they would make something with venision for dogs with allergies!
Did you see my reply to you on Facebook? Merrick just came out with grain free Venison Kibble. I posted the link in my Facebook reply for you π I’m more excited about the rabbit personally!
That looks delicious. When I get another dog, I’ll buy it.
I’m sure any dog would just love it.
I’m sure your sisters were happy you brought some back home!
They would have been really mad if they didn’t get any of it.
But where’s da corny dog, turkey leg, funnel cake, and fried Coke??
I think my mom makes me go to the healthy food section at the fair. She eats all the other bad stuff.
You look like a great Texas rep
Lily & Edward
Thank you. I tried to look the part.
Such cute photos! Rudy and Rosie are sorry they didn’t get to come to your picnic ‘cuz they love Merrick canned food. We’ll have to try this one.
It is great stuff, isn’t it?
Oh, Emma, you are (as always) so adorable. I love the Merrick canned foods. Gotta go talk to the mom about Texas State Fair!! XOXO Sparkle
I love them too, and I love that there are always different ones coming out. I guess your mom is back from cruising?
Yep! She is back. Our house/pet sitter, Paula, was really good to us. She had a great trip and she saw that huge mountain called Denali all 3 days she was in the National Park. The cruise was great and she got to see and spend quality time with her high school buddies. Her vacay was wonderful except for the fact she was and is still in lots of pain from something she tore or injured in her left hip or maybe her back (YIKES!). She needs an MRI but can’t have that because she has a pacemaker. She has had x-rays and nothing is broken. Tomorrow she has CAT scans. The cruise ship doc told her the best thing she could do is keep walking on it – OUCH! Her back doctor told her “RICE.” What conflicting advice – she trusts her back doc so much more than the ship doc. His nurse gave the mom a shot in her butt on Wednesday. I make sure she is behaving and doing her RICE. We share so much responsibility, Emma. XOXO Sparkle
We are always impress with the Merrick goodies and That one sounds big on yum!
As always, Bert licked out the empty can, so it must be tasty!
Goodness Bailee that’s a haul! And Emma almost ate it all? My mom loves fair food they put everything on a stick or deep fry it! Love Dolly
My mom loves that too, but she won’t let us eat it. I love this beef, so it doesn’t matter!
DAKOTA COUNTY FAIR??? I need to go there! DakotasDen
I never thought about that, but it is your fair!
I never thought to take my own food to the fair, but that is an excellent idea. I bet the Brown Dawgs would like it too….lol.
All caught up. My blog has been having issues with connecting to Jetpack. I never could make it work, despite several emails to support and outside help. I found other plugins to do the job, but unfortunately lost my entire email list…phooey.
That is rather scary as I’ve heard of several people with a similar issue. I have my paws crossed my jetpack keeps working.
Really? I thought I was the only one. Too bad for them too.
There was a post a few days ago in one of my facebook groups about someone having issues with their JetPack not connecting. Neither their host nor JetPack could seem to help them.
LOL bet that was me. Sigh I am the only one!
Yep…things re definitely bigger in Texas (we were all born there)!!
We just love, love, love your pin cowboy hat, Emma!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
But wait! You all are pretty small, so that doesn’t make sense π
It almost looks good enough for ME to eat. π I bet there are a lot of dogs out there that would love to try this!
Oh yeah! The beef is in big chunks but super tender so they fall apart.
I swear Sam licked the laptop screen when he caught sight of those chunks.
Better not tell him they are so tender they will melt in his mouth!
Enjoy it all – Cowgirls need energy too!
We sure do. It’s hard work being a cow girl dog.
Love your pink cowgirl hat!
I love your pictures ! It’s so cute!
