Three years ago today, the world was blessed with the arrival of fourteen healthy, GBGV puppies, one of which turned out to be my little sister Bailie. There were ten girls and four boys. Mom remembers reading about the litter on Facebook, but she was determined not to comment or like posts because she knew if she did, she would want one of the puppies. Can you guess what happened? Yep, she couldn’t resist, and in the end Bailie became part of our family. Happy Birthday to all fourteen pups!
Back on June 14, 2014, Bailie celebrated her first birthday. We made sure her first birthday was super special and memorable. I baked nice paw cakes and we did it up big!
If your math is good, you would know last June 14th, Bailie turned two. She was starting to feel fancy and insisted on a much fancier party. We had a discussion about her cake and decided on pupcakes which turned out real tasty. Her birthday was a big success again as she entered into the terrible twos filled with exploding beds and pillows.
Today our little Purple Girl is turning three. How time cruises by! Bailie says party hats are for puppies and insisted on a birthday crown instead. To compliment her crown, she had to wear a purple boa. Bailie seems to be really getting into her own style when it comes to what to wear these days.
So far it’s been a good birthday week. Bailie went to the Pet Expo where she got to choose a new antler for herself, and she got a mani/pedi.
Bailie also attended her first baseball game. Well, it was just little league, but still it was her first ball game of any kind. She said it was rather boring.
While I was at my spa appointment yesterday, Bailie got a one on one walk with Mom at one of our favorite local parks, Lebanon Hills. It was a perfect day for a walk.
Tomorrow, Mom is taking Bailie to a tracking seminar with a working spot. Bailie is all excited to learn more about tracking which is her very favorite sport. I’m thrilled I don’t have to go! Last but not least, Bailie is signed up for a three week Obstacle Skills class in August. I wonder what tricks she will learn?
I’ve been busy baking her cake, and she has some other gifts waiting for her. Follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for updates on Bailie’s birthday all day today. I’ll have another blog post next week about her special day. For now, I wish my little sister a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
As for Katie, she isn’t doing well, but she wouldn’t want us to sit around and be sad when there was a birthday to celebrate. We are spending some time with Katie when she is awake and are letting Bailie enjoy her birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAILIE AKA PURPLE GIRL!! Hope you have a wonderful day you sweet little mischief maker! ??????
We know she will have a fun day no matter what. She is the happiest dog on the planet!
Happy Birthday dear purple girl!!! I saw the mayor who raised the flag in the morning, bet it was just for you!
I bet it was! Now let’s hope she doesn’t steal it and parade around with it!
Happy Birthday, Bailie!! You are looking good, we definitely like your style! It sounds like you’re having a good week of celebrating and spending time with your family.
It’s a hard week, but Mom makes sure we all get our time no matter what. She’s been having a lot of special fun.

I don’t think Katie will hear anything. I will party it up nicely now that I’m really a big girl.

And POTP to Katie.

To Purple Girl-
I hope you are having a very special birthday. You deserve it!
Love Ellen and Katie
Mom is trying her best to make it a great day, and I also have had a pretty good birthday week to help celebrate.
Happy Birthday beautiful Bailie! That was some puppy pile! Hugs to you dear Katie from all of us.
Can you imagine 14 puppies! Yikes! No wonder Bailie doesn’t want to have a family reunion!
14 puppies born at once. Wow. Glad your mom couldn’t resist looking and picking out Ballie for your sister.
Happy Birthday, Ballie
Hugs to Emma and Katie. I hope Katie is comfortable.
Every time mom saw a puppy she liked it was purple girl. No doubt we have the right one!

Happy birthday sweet girl, hugs
Bailie’s day was a bit odd this year with losing Katie, but we did our best to make it a good day for her.
A belated happy birthday to sweet little Bailie. By the way, purple is my favorite color and that feather boa is stunning!
I forgot you are into purple! She loves her boa
Happy 3rd Birthday Bailie. I just can’t believe you are already 3. Hope you enjoy your Birthday.
It was a bittersweet day with our loss of Katie, but we did our best to help her have some fun.
I know you lost Katie, I started crying as soon as I started. I haved made it through that blog yet, because I just wasn’t up to reDing it yet. I started reading your blog at the beginning, so Katie was healthy and I cell in love with her. I will read your letter, I have so been hurting seeing her doing badly. I’m so very sorry, I’m having trouble coming up with words.
It’s okay. We are taking everything slowly around here. I had to write the post as there was so much I wanted to say and it was a good start for me. I also had to let people know Katie had passed. It was hard and wet to write, but it was good for me.
You girls always do the best birthdays! Happy belated birthday to Bailie!!
Having met you beautiful ladies IRL I can’t imagine any dog your size with 14 puppies!! Is that a typical GBGV size litter?
Bailie’s litter was huge! Normally maybe eight pups. Her mom was bred several times and it never took, so they tried one last time and I think all the puppies from the failed breedings ended up in Bailie’s litter! It was amazing as all fourteen were healthy and survived.
HAPPY BARCLAY BAILIE!
3 bum swings! 3 more!
Have a pawfect time with your upcoming events; they sounds pawsome!
You look wooftastic in your purple boa. I too used to wear one but lost it in the fire. My huMom is looking to replace it.
Enjoy my friend & may it be a wooftastic year for you!

That was supposed to say, “HAPPY BARKDAY BAILIE!”
So many typos show up on comments, we get a good laugh over imagining what was supposed to be and what was.
Despite all that was going on on her birthday, Bailie had a relatively good day, thank you. That fire sounds so awful. My mom is terrified of fire, so she never lights candles or stuff like that.
Despite all that’s happened to you guys in the past few days, I hope Ms. Bailie had a good bark day. Belated wishes to the adorable Bailie. α¦
Well, it wasn’t the best, but it was as good as it can be. She seems a bit scared since Katie’s passing, so we are working with her to comfort her a bit.
It takes them a while to adjust; they grieve just like we do. Sam still does double takes whenever he sees an OES, his ‘sister’ and she’s been gone for 5 years now. He totally adored her.
Katie spent a good month looking for Trine after she passed. Emma hasn’t shown much change at all but Bailie seems unnerved by it.
Poor thing. I’m sure she’ll get better with each passing day. That’s the beauty about dogs-they live in the moment even if the moment at hand seems off balance.
“exploding beds and pillows” – MOL! We seem to remember somepuppy getting BUSTED on a Vimtag!
Yes, we love the Vimtag…Bailie says it is not her friend, LOL!
