they are rare here… can I stop for pigeons and rabbits too? have a super wednesday and grab one of that thingies with the bushy tails :o)
I know. We hardly ever saw one in Germany, but when we landed in the US, it was like a squirrel explosion! Mom’s arms were instantly 6 inches longer from holding us back on leash!
oh then it was a super decision to go to the us where you can buy clothes with eggs-tra long sleeves :o) well done :o)
Very wise advice! I will take your advice and take a few extra minutes today to watch those crazy critters.
It’s always good to keep an eye on them.
Katie would spend her entire life watching squirrels if she had the chance.
Squirrels and wabbits for me. I understand and agree with Katie.
Harley watches, Jaxson chases. Somewhat like you and Bailey and rabbits LOL
Mom says we are like cats. We watch, and then bolt off after them.
My sister Lilly is wild about squirrels! Wild. She loves our new backyard –she says the squirrels are everywhere! Me, I just like sunbathing. Have a good day! Your doodle friend Dash
Bailie and I are on top of all critters in the yard. I enjoy sunbathing too, but not if a critter is in the area.
Oh Emma do I have to? They are so annoying and love coming up on my porch shaking their furry tails in my face.
Hugs madi your bfff
They are mean and love to tease us cats and dogs! You don’t have to look if you can’t chase.
I am a very strange hound. We have squirrels here but I ignore them! What is the matter with me? XOXO Sparkle
When I’ve been to FL the pool cage always had squirrels running on the roof or the sides and it made me nuts. What is wrong with you, girl? Maybe the heat has gotten to you?
Barley thinks watching them is overrated. She’d rather take time to chase them 🙂 You look very content, though!
We like to watch, and then at the right moment, we take off after them. Mom says we are cat like with our hunting skills.
As long as we can chase them a bit after watching them :-)!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
I need to watch them, study them, then then move in for the chase and capture.
You and Taffy would get along just great doing that! Love Dolly
I love to watch critters. I could do it all day every day, of course, with some intermittent chasing.
Great pic!
We have a few here. But they run so fast!
Purrs xx
Athena and Marie
I could catch them more if they didn’t cheat and climb up the trees. That is not fair.
Now that is one hobby we enjoy.
Lily & Edward
It is a good one, isn’t it?
Pierre is obsessed with squirrels. He sits at the back door and looks out every evening from 4:30 – 7:30 (squirrel:thirty) Mom has to let him out 87 gazillion times during those hours cuz the tree rats come down the trees and taunt him. BOL!
He sounds quite dedicated. We don’t see many out the window, mainly just on our walks. I love to chase them and try to snag one of those furry tails.
Ah! What a great idea! Today we will take time to stop and watch the squirrels! 😀
Exactly. It is what we dogs should be doing.
Zoe and Phoenix love to watch the squirrels! The only thing better than watching them is treeing them! 😀
Or actually catching one would be the ultimate thing!
Great advice, I sure will!
You might want to watch birdies too.
Oh I needed this post: the week has been so busy so far I feel like I cannot catch up and it’s driving me crazy. Thank YOU – I’m taking everyone to the park.
Mom says sometimes when life is just too crazy, taking us for a nice hour walk or so will relax her and clear out her brain. Enjoy!
Great words to live by, Emma! Around here there is a lot more chipmunk watching though, since we seem to have so many more of those! Luke almost caught one the other night!
Maybe we could have an exchange? I have tons of squirrels but would love to see more chippers. I could send, say a dozen squirrels to you, and you ship back a dozen chippers? Make sure we each send 6 couples so the population will explode.
Sounds great – more fun for everyone!!
Chasing the squirrels is the high point of Ducky’s day, I do believe. BOL
Squirrels and wabbits. That is what it it all about, right?
That’s for sure!
My guys spend all day watching the squirrels! And barking at the squirrels 🙂
I’m very quiet until the chase begins, then my loud hunting call surfaces. My sister Bailie is impatient and uses her hunting call all the time and it is loud.
Great advice for everyday.
Sarah, Shadow, and Stealth
Thanks. We try to follow it daily.
Aw, if only Haley were that calm while watching squirrels, haha. Great advice, Emma!
Bailie is not calm either. As I have gotten older, I have learned to be more relaxed about it, but I do go wild still at times.
That is good advice, and you are such a good girl to STOP and watch! Rita would probably try to chase them up leap up at them! Luckily we don’t see them too often in our ‘hood.
My mom says they are a dime a dozen around here and I know that too. I always size up the situation and then move in. It is the way we hunt around here.
Always! The squirrels are going to be very active soon too gathering food for winter.
I know. In a few weeks they will be all over carrying food which means they are distracted, which means, better chance to catch one!
Mini: Watch for about a second, and then chase!
I watch for a few seconds and then chase!
And bark em!
I’m pretty quiet, but Bailie makes a lot of hunting noises when she is after the squirrels.
The squirrels are SO brazen, they don’t even run when we approach them! Twice this week Delilah has stopped dead to watch one. Once she gave me such a tug, totally caught me off guard.
They are so rotten! They know we are on leash and they stop just far enough away that we can’t get them. Nasty, evil tree rats!
Sounds like a great thing to do.
One of my hobbies.
Even though I could care less, squirrel watching can be quite entertaining, especially when they run along on power lines and lose their footing. Bwahaha!
Your fur-iend,
Sam ?
LOL! That is funny! I like to sneak up on them when they are playing and not paying attention. I’ve gotten within inches of a tail many times.
Now THAT would be funny to get that close!
Looks like you’re enjoying a little whiff of squirrel, too. As long as that doesn’t turn into a little taste of squirrel. 😉
I just want to grab one. I never eat things I hunt. I hunt for the fun of hunting.
