Pet parents love to be able to connect with their pets when they are away, and Petcube is the perfect device to do it with! Petcube is more than just a camera, it has many fun features to help you interact with your pet remotely. The Petcube camera can be accessed anywhere, anytime with the free mobile app on your smartphone.
I would say the feature that makes Petcube stand out from the crowd is the built in “red dot”. When cat bro Bert saw that on the box, he was all over it. I think most cats are crazy about the infamous “red dot”.
After your Petcube arrives, it needs to be set up. Since it is my Petcube, I sat down to read the box and the really quick start instructions. There is nothing worse than tech issues. I was hoping this would be as easy to set up as they claim it is.
The box includes, the Petcube camera, power adapter, USB cable, and the quick start guide. I think it is a pretty sharp looking device, don’t you?
While I was working hard unpacking all the equipment, Bert found the box sleeve and decided it was something to wear and nap in. I tell you! Cats and boxes – what’s up with that?
Time to accomplish the first step…setting up the app on my phone. The Petcube app is available for free for smartphones iOS 8.0 or higher, and Android 4.0 and higher. I downloaded the Android app for my phone. Within minutes it was installed.
Next up, I created myself an account, easy peasy. I had it done in about a minute.
The tough part was connecting the Petcube to the home WIFI, but even that was a walk in the park for my paws. Do you see green? Green means, “go”. I did still have to calibrate the red dot once the camera was connected, but that too was not an issue.
Bailie is a huge “red dot” fan. She took advantage of a quiet moment to study the camera and the functionality of the “red dot”.
Bert also found the red dot intriguing, but it did not move fast enough for him. He kept getting bored and leaving but before he left, he had to love on the Petcube a bit more.
Now for the main features of the Petcube. I included some screenshots from my phone app too. It is a pretty app in my opinion.
- Multiple camera sharing options including hooking up with friends and family
- Ability to take photos and videos with your smartphone
- Petcube can be mounted on a tripod
- 2-way audio
- The red dot
- HD video streaming with 138 degree view
- Chime alarm to alert you when someone logs into your camera
For our house, aside from the “red dot”, the monitoring feature is the most important. I hooked up the Petcube when Mom was out the other day, and took the video above which shows what Miss Bailie was up to. It seems she may never grow up!
Overall, we like the Petcube. It isn’t possible to change the camera angle remotely, or to move the red dot yourself, it is either on or off. Those two items are the only things we wish this device was capable of. Are you in the market for a pet monitoring device? Do you think Petcube would be fun for you and your furry ones?
My GBGV Life received the Petcube in this post to review. My GBGV Life receives no additional benefits for barking about Petcube products or the company. The opinions in this review are the honest opinion of My GBGV Life. Petcube is not responsible for the contents of this post.
I would like it!!! sure :o) is it possible to use it for humans too, right? I would like to know what they do when I’m not there to supervise them :o)
You could use it to monitor anything.
That looks like a fun camera. Mom spies on me with the Petzi Treat Cam. She can talk to me (but I can’t talk back) AND she sends me treats that pop out of the bottom of the camera. Have fun kids, and don’t do anything naughty…
Love and licks,
Cupcake
The treat cam was interesting, but the cat and Bailie love the red dot thing.
This is really cool! Christmas is crated when we aren’t home so we wouldn’t need this, but it still looks super cool!
Mom uses it when we are crated too, to see what we do, if we sleep, or cry, stuff like that.
If my mom could see what I did when she was away……………….ohhhhhhh would she be surprised.
I hope she doesn’t read this post
Hugs madi your bfff
That is pretty much how Bert and Bailie feel!
I have wondered more than once what goes on when we are away.
It can be enlightening sometimes with Bailie and Bert.
We dogs object to being spied on by our peeps – we need our privacy and we don’t want them knowing what we really get up to when they are not home π π π
Sometimes Mom thinks it would be best not to know, but it is interesting.
That is really cool. We say these at the BlogPaws conference and loved them. We just won another camera and are super excited!
Spy cams for dogs…I guess you boys are in the same boat we are in at my house. Enjoy your new camera.
This is awesome! Mom likes spying on us
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
My mom goes in phases with watching us. It’s good she says now and then. Bailie rarely disappoints. She can’t seem to grow up.
I had a feeling this new gadget wasn’t going to be good news for Bailie! If squeaky ball is allowed on the couch, she should be too, right? π
We might try one of these some day!
Squeaky ball is not allowed on the couch either, but Bailie just wants to be on the couch. She even tries sometimes when Mom is home!
Sounds like a very cool system!! Since Mama, Arty and I traveled so much this summer, our Dad put cameras around the house so she could see Bilbo and Jakey when she was missing them.
Mama says it gives a whole new meaning to “The Secret Life of Pets”! BOL
Smileys!
Dory
Good for the humans, bad for sneaky pets! Nice of your dad to do that for her, though.
The Dad will check that one out. We’ve been looking for something easy but hadn’t quite found easy yet. Thanks for the nice review!
The red dot is the appealing touch for cats.
I could have used something like this while I was away. I tried to Google Hangout with Sampson but he wouldn’t have it. **sigh**
Looks like Bailie really likes the furniture!
Bailie has a thing for the couch. She even goes there when Mom is home sometimes. Katie and I never went on the couch, so it is something she decided to do all on her own.
YOU are the BEST camera reviewer out there, seriously!!!!! Ok, where is the give-away? π
I guess if you make a camera some day you know who to call, LOL! No giveaway this time, sorry π
We like the ability to scan the rooms up and down and around the rooms. Ours is not a pet one it is to check for anyone in the house and everything going on. I mainly look at the dogs though:)
It is nice if you can move it around remotely to see other things.
Bert you crack me up. It’s things like this that makes me wish I had wifi
Can’t imagine life without WIFI. Your pets may be glad you don’t have it!
I’ve seen them around a lot lately. The Boys are rarely left alone so one around here would probably remain in its box LOL
Maybe you need a cat to keep an eye on!
Oh Bailey you are busted again. It looks like a good way to see what the pets are up to.
Bailie has no respect for rules and doesn’t worry a bit about getting caught.
BOL, I just love seeing Bailie getting busted on your pet cam reviews!!!
She definitely has her job there carved out!
