Hard to believe, but Christmas card bloopers happen at our house! I normally only use the real nice photos, but today, I’m giving you all a look at some of the bloopers we had this year while trying to get a family Christmas photo.
My mom is pretty good at wrangling us all together and getting us into position for our group photos. Even little Madison has a great sit and stay and is pretty good at looking at the camera too. I hear, even some of the best models have their own issues, which makes me feel a bit better.
Amazingly, we took 22 photos for our card this year, four of them came out great. The scary thing is Madison and I were the biggest causes of trouble! Bailie was perfect in almost every shot! Sometimes the way she wanted to wear her beret covering one eye was not what the photographer wanted, but Bailie thought it was super cool. Teenagers!
A few of the challenges my photographer needs to overcome are:
- Getting three dogs to pose, stay, and look.
- Madison is a puppy with a short attention span.
- We are often times wearing hats or other clothing items.
- The weather – too hot, too cold, too windy.
Sometimes everything goes wrong in a shot and no one is even looking at the camera!
Since we are a pretty good team, be it one, two, or all three of us, it usually takes ten minutes or less for any of our photo shoots. We know what to do, and we know the sooner we do it, the sooner we are done.
Our photographer doesn’t take hundreds of photos either. Photos of the three of us mean more takes, but an average shoot with one or two means less takes. If we need on average eight photos, the photographer will take around forty and weed out the bad shots. When we first started, we did take hundreds, but the photographer and models have improved with practice.
Now you know, not every shot we take comes out perfect! Hope you enjoyed some of the best of our Christmas Card Bloopers 2016. Stay tuned for December 25, 2016 to see the photo we actually used for our card this year.
We are joining the 25 Days of Holiday Fun Blog Hop held by my friend Dory! Check out what the other bloggers are posting for holiday fun!
LOL! These are awesome. I can SO relate. I was taking pictures last night and it was chaos. π
Some shoots go better than others, but getting three to focus can be tough.
Those pictures are just terrific. Sure made us laugh. It is so hard to get pictures of dogs or cats. The cats just get up and walk away so it takes many tries. Just have to be quick. But we think all those are wonderful. At least they are all having some fun.
It always has to be about the fun or you shouldn’t do it we think. It all worked out in the end.
Very funny!! We love Bailie’s hat over her eye — so snazzy! We can be pretty tough for mom — but we have gotten better as we have gotten older! have a great day, your doodle friend Dash
One of us is super easy, two works, but three gets tough, especially with little squirmels around now.
Those are so funny. Next year I want to make my own Christmas cards as well. Brom shouldn’t be a problem (he’s a teddybear), but Miss Oswin is a different matter altogether. Being a feline, she always has different ideas about who or what should be in a photo with her. I had better start training her up, so we can have a great card.
My cat bro Bert does pretty well for photos. He actually had a modeling job recently. As long as there is food involved, he will do anything.
Doesn’t matter what the picture looks like, you are one adorable family!
We are a wild and crazy, but happy bunch of hounds.
Mom is very impressed with you only taking 22 shots but its true the shorter time it takes the better. She spends more time setting up the pictures than actually taking them. We love Bailie’s hat over one eye, very French! Love Dolly
The set up is the worst part for our photographer too. We get in and get out as quick as we can. Since we don’t do treats during a shoot it also saves time and we want to finish to get the reward.
I am noit camera shy (Maggie was) but I am not a model as you are, Emma. Little dolly Madison is so endearing. π I wiggle and move, and for one picture of just me I have many “takes.” XOXO, Sparkle
There is a reason Madison can do a sit and stay like forever. Since the day we got her she has learned that and it works. For a youngster, she poses really well, even with a hat.
Love the bloopers those should be the real thing! I know how hard it is to get four dogs to sit still and guilty doesn’t like wearing stuff.
I have always liked wearing stuff, and my sisters learned to wear things from the day they arrived here, so that part is pretty easy. It is always a challenge.
BOL we thought the beret over your eye was a sexy look

We are thankful Bailie is spayed with her ideas on fashion, and her butt wiggles!
thea are great and I think they are perfect for cards… well done… to bring a smile on the face of your readers is always the best
You definitely know the wonders of smiles and laughter. You will find it again, it just takes time. Thank you so much for coming to visit us. We are thinking of you.
Last year, we ended up using an out take as our Christmas card!! Those are some funny (and cute) bloopers!!!
Smileys!

My mom is kind of a perfectionist, so she wanted a good one. These are fun for this post, though.
Even photo bloopers are cute!
They exude our true family spirit…funny!
Haha these outtakes are great! I love how they show the personalities behind the poses.
My mom is amazed at how we are all the same breed with so many similarities but also so many different personality traits.
There’s always one in every crowd who spoils it.
So true!
Dang, even your bloopers look purrfect!
Well, they are not real perfect, but they are pretty funny.
Mom feels happy to know that we aren’t the only ones who take 9,000 pictures to get a winner. Your bloopers are ADORABLE!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
We don’t always make it easy all together!
Phew, we’re glad to see you are not always perfect! Especially with a puppy in the mix, we’d be even more discouraged if you were! π If I’d known I was going to be a blogger when the girls were young, I would have worked with them much more. Luke is the only one I can get cooperation from most of the time. Thus, collages are my best friend. Though I’d much rather do it your way!
I was born to love the camera, so I never was hard to get to model, and the other two nuts learned young. It is practical!
you mean not every photo that you take is perfect??? Seriously, I never thought that this happens to you!
It happens, but the bloopers have decreased dramatically over time. We get things done pretty quickly usually.
OMD, so cute! I kinda like that jaunty angle that Bailie is wearing her hate at. π
She is our styling teenager and has her own ideas!
Sometimes the bloopers are as much fun as the real thing!
Sometimes they really are!
thank you for the tears of happiness and laughter running down my cheeks. I kid you not, by the end of this post I was howling with laughter. pawfect
Thank you. We love to be a happy place for friends to come for smiles and laughs, but also maybe learn something sometimes.
Photo shoots are a challenge with puppies, but I find that as Thunder gets older, the less patience he has for photos.
Madison is really good with photos, but all three together brings a challenge.
Always love seeing the Bloopers!!!!
hugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
Sometimes they are kind of fun to look at!
So are you saying there’s hope at the end of the Christmas card tunnel? π
P.S. They’re all adorable. Nice job. ?
There is! One has to have patience.
