Madison’s first dog park visit last week was a success! We don’t go to the dog parks much as I’m not a big dog fan, and Bailie always takes off leaving her recall behind which makes Mom a nervous mess. Nevertheless, it is good to go now and then for something different. Last week Mom took Madison for the first time.
Mom and Madison were headed to the vet for a check up and the Dakota Woods Dog Park was on the way. If you are keeping track, Madison now weighs twenty pounds, about half of her full grown size and weight! She was eight pounds when she arrived. This park has a heavily wooded area, so Mom will only go there in the winter because the other times of the year, she loses sight of us when we take off to chase squirrels. It was mid week, midday, and icy, thus not too busy, perfect for a first visit!
Right after entering the park, Madison found her first new friend. Madison is like Bailie, a real social butterfly! It was real icy, so there was no playing, just some sniffing. Katie and I took Bailie to this same dog park when she was about ten months old. Bailie also had a blast romping and meeting other dogs!
They walked some of the trails in the woods first. Madison was having a lot of fun in the woods.
She stopped to have a closer look. I’m sure she could smell the critters. Her nose is really good!
The old picnic table was a fun place to work on modeling. Posing in a new environment is challenging since she wanted to keep checking out the area.
An old tree stump also makes for a good photo opportunity. It was about three feet tall, which meant Madison had to stay up there and not jump or fall down. Being a rather clumsy puppy, Mom had a close watch on her the entire time.
Next it was out into the open part of the dog park to meet some friends. She was greeted immediately by these two.
The Corgi was about her size. They had a quick sniff and romp together.
Madison and the Husky were fast friends. The Husky was six months old, just a puppy herself. The two of them got some wild pants on and Madison didn’t want to leave because it was so fun!
Finally it was time to go. The little one sniffed her way back to the exit so they could continue on their way. It was a short visit, maybe half an hour, but it ended on a positive note, and Madison was able to be herself with no sisters telling her what to do. I’m sure she will go to another dog park again soon, maybe when it is less icy!
Way to go Madison that looks like a fun day.
She had a real nice time.
Fun in the sun and snow! Puppies need to play. Great job, Madison. XOXO, Sparkle
They sure do need to play, and being in new places is even more fun!
I love how Mom knows how he personality of each dog so well. My Katie does like other dogs either and I just thought that was weird. Glad to hear she is not weird and just like her far away friend Emma!
Moms have to know their dogs in order to be able to fit their needs. Bailie and Madison are real social. I was always more of a loner, it just gets to be more as I get older. I’m fine being on my own or with Mom, but my sisters are always looking for excitement and more friends.
Oh there are fabulous friends in your dog park… is the corgi one from HRM’s corgis? and I bet the husky knows the Woo’s and Misaki … maybe they are even cousins?
Madison didn’t take time to ask any questions of her new friends, she just wanted to play and sniff. They could be distant relatives of our friends, one never knows.
What a good puppy!! So much fun!! Happy New Year to Madison. your doodle friend Dash
She still is a really good puppy. She has a lot of fun and is always real happy too.
Whooa! Looks like you had a blast
Happy New Year
Lily & Edward
Since we don’t have breed meetups like you guys, we have to make friends with others, but we don’t mind.
That was quite the fun outing you had pretty Madison!
She was a bit unsure at first, but then she realized how fun it was there.
It is so icy everywhere down here! Glad you were able to find some area with not a lot of ice! Can’t wait to meet you Madison! π
It’s icy around here too. Mom has her YakTrax on her shoes so we can go walking, otherwise she would be flat on her back most of the walk! So very sad to have the beautiful snow all ruined with ice.
That was a great first visit, always good to have a positive first experience.
She sure did have a positive one. No wonder she is always so happy…so much fun!
What a fun outing! I love the photo of her on the tree stump. β₯
She had a lot of fun and is getting to be a good model too!
We’re so glad Madison had a good first experience at the dog park. Hopefully you’ll get some nice soft snow so next time she can do a little more romping around.
She seems to be taking right after her big sister in being a great model!
We desperately need some snow! We got rain yesterday again and today the world is covered in ice. Mom can only walk us one at a time for safety reasons and has to have her YakTrax on her shoes or she can’t even walk. It’s nasty!
You have the best dog park ever so jealous. And that Madison does not look happy posing on the picnic table! Love Dolly
She does have her own ideas and she wanted to jump down and keep walking. Mom says she has to learn patience.
That looks like so much fun! I can’t get over the photos of you on the bench and stump – some tremendous modeling! Your sisters must be teaching you well!
Madison learned to pose the first day she arrived. Sometimes she runs out of patience, but she is pretty good at the sit and stay thing for a 4 1/2 month old.
I think any length of dog and stay is pretty good for a 4-1/2 month old!
Mom says she is a dog who has a talent to “get it” really fast and then remembers too. I have a feeling it makes the rest of us look bad!
What fabulous pictures! I’m so happy to see that Madison’s first dog-park adventure was such a success. Tallulah does the little-sister-alone-at-the-dog-park thing too. Lately it’s been way too wet and muddy for her to go, but my paws are crossed for a dry spell so she can go and play and play and play . . . and come home completely tuckered out. Here ‘s hoping Madison was a tired girl when she came back home to you!
She was pretty tired out, but she always has energy to attack and play with Bailie. Those two are seriously nuts!
What a great way for Madison to meet new friends!
Smileys!

She did really well with the new friends, but then again, she is like Bailie and really into being social.
THAT was an AMAZING Outting you had Madison. WE are sort of Jelly over it… except fur the Cold SNOW and ICE stuffs…
Madison embraces winter like Bailie and I do. The ice is not our friend, but sometimes we just have to deal with it.
Glad she had fun, even if it wuz icy!
A few places were real icy, but the majority of it was more frozen snow which isn’t as slippery.
What a fun stop. There were lots of fun friends there, ice and all.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
She thought it was pretty cool once she got used to it. At first she wasn’t so sure which is why she needs to go out alone with Mom sometimes.
What a fun outing. I’ll bet she had a good nap after all that socializing. π
She slept in the car on the way to and from the vet afterwards, but when she got home, she was all wild with Bailie once again.
So darn adorable. She reminds me of the Ever-Ready Bunny.
She is a lot like that wabbit!
Looks like she had a great day at the park! We don’t go to dog parks since Barley doesn’t like other dogs and Rye is too houndy and would be like Bailie and forget her recall with all of the great things to sniff, but it looks like this one is great!
I don’t go at all since I’m not a fan of dogs, only people, but Bailie loves to go. They only go to completely fenced ones and Mom tries to go with a friend if it is a larger park. She says she feels better if she has support along. Bringing squeaky ball will often get Bailie to come back, but he doesn’t work well in the winter.
Good job for your first dog park. It looks like you made some friends and had a very good time. That means you will love going again:)
I think she will love going again. It was a lot of fun for her.
Someone is really growing up fast. Already hanging out and making friends.
Little Madison is not shy and not afraid to hang out with the big dogs!
You sure packed a lot of fun into half an hour.
The little one has a ton of energy and moves fast!
