Last week we had a visit from friends of ours, two of which are Sussex Spaniels. They are about our size, and also have long floppy ears! These friends are ones we met through our blog, then we found out they do nose work, now we meet at trials and sometimes meet up just for fun!
I was busy the day they came up to visit, but Bailie and Madison were all excited to entertain them in our yard! Finley and Hartley are Sussex Spaniels, and their sister Maddie is a mix. They are all super cute and even match which is important to us fashion hounds! It never dawned on Mom to get a photo of all five together, so we only have “combo” photos.
Bailie is always a bit shy with other dogs, but she seemed to like to hang out with Maddie the best. Maddie is older, but she still has a lot of energy. You can see in her eyes, she has something planned!
I think it was the attack on Madison. One has to love the look she is giving the camera! Little Madison’s ears are full in motion too!
It was nice for Bailie to have a break from Madison’s constant pestering! Poor Maddie put up with a lot from the little one!
There were lots of chase games, but in Madison’s opinion, there should have been more! Both dogs were really running all out!
This one is so funny! The poor friend looks like they have had enough, but Madison has her eyes on the target!
Sometimes they took a more casual stroll around the yard with Maddie. Bailie was always around Madison to make sure she stayed safe.
Uh oh…looks like Madison is about to be attacked! Usually she was the one doing the chasing!
Madison is still a super good puppy, but she is at the age where she is testing things out and she can also be a bit sassy. I think she was getting sassy with Maddie here. The expressions they all have are so cute!
Here you can see the Sussex Spaniels are close to the same size as us GBGV’s. Madison is still small and needs to add another 10-15Β pounds. They sure do look cute together!
As I mentioned before, Madison was one busy puppy, pestering the three friends, but Bailie was never far just in case Madison needed any assistance. Bailie makes a wonderful big sister for Madison.
All in all, it was a fun afternoon for us dogs. We can use some exercise and entertainment with Mom being out of commission. I think Madison had the most fun of all, but she is the baby, so it is no surprise. Mom also had a great time chatting with her human friend. That night Madison and Bailie were tucked into bed and had the lights out early!
Looks like it was a fun afternoon for everyone.
It’s always fun to hang out with friends and to get a lot of fresh air!
What a fun visit and some great action shots.
Little Madison did her best to keep all the dogs on their toes running around!
That was a great big bunch of fun, especially for sweet Madison!
Madison definitely had the most fun of all!
Oh my gosh, what a bunch of fun. I bet there was some pooped pups.
Once they wound down, they did sure crash!
I can sure tell a good time was had by all and those Spaniels are great looking dogs!
The Spaniels are pretty cute…almost as cute as GBGV’s.
wow that are great friends… we love this breed and it is a little sad that we see them only rarely here… most at dog shows, I never met one on the street…
They are rare here too. Two rare breeds hanging out together…a rare occurrence!
So adorable. You are like a little kid playing
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Madison is our little kid these days!
It looks like a great day of fun. I’m sure they slept hard that night!
Bailie and Madison were both pretty wiped out that night.
What great fun for everyone! Your Mom and her friend must have had such a nice visit, with all that entertainment from the pups. It is so relaxing to just sit and watch them having fun, and it must have been a very nice break for your Mom to.
It was a fun afternoon for everyone, and some good exercise for Madison too.
That was a fun day, but I think little Madison can hold her own – no need for Bailie to be overprotective! Not sure where I would have been in the play or not so much group! XOXO, Sparkle
I think Bailie has taken Madison on as her responsibility. She just wants to be there in case miss sassy pants needs some help.
Looks like fun!
My sisters love hanging out with friends!
What a wonderful group of action shots!! Looks like every pup had a blast!!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
They all had a lot of fun, and the humans enjoyed a nice afternoon as well.
OMD you all had SUCH a grand and GLORIOUS Good time.
They sure did!
Nice play date we are so jealous! And I see you have no snow too. Love Dolly
This has been a disgusting winter with the warm weather, lack of snow and tons of ice. Yuck!
What a fun day! I love when friends come to visit. My sister Lilly doesn’t. She hides upstairs in mom’s room. Silly girl. I run and jump and bark! Great post! your doodle friend Dash
Thank you. I’m not real keen on canine friends coming over. I leave that to my sisters, but I enjoy hanging out with human friends.
We had so much fun playing with Bailie and Madison. Thanks for having us. – Hartley – Finley and the “wanna be Sussex”, Maddie.
Maddie is such a sweetheart! You all are welcome anytime. We all love to see you, and I know Mom likes to hang out with you too.
Mowzers, that is SO COOL that you guys get to hook up and have a play date!
And yeah – we agree with you & Dolly the Doxie about the weather: the mom’s been in Rochester for the first 3 weeks of Feb, and what is UP with your 2Λ weather and then 60Λ weather, then back to snow? She barely scooted out of there before that blizzard last week!
This weather is no good, no fun. Hopefully things will get to normal next winter.
Looks like it was a fun visit. I imagine pups were tired after all that fun.
My sisters were tucked into bed early, and happy!
That looks like he best nonstop fun ever. And yes, those faces really say it all. Mostly, “What have we gotten ourselves into??”
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Little Madison can really bring some life to a party. She doesn’t accept no for an answer from anyone!
That looks like a fun play date! The spaniels look like the perfect sized friends for you girls. I’m glad you all get along so well.
My sisters and mom had a real fun time.
It’s great to have friends like that to have such a fun visit.
They are real nice friends, and Mom and their mom get along real well too.
There’s nothing like a sunny day, a fenced in yard and some furry friends to share the time….
It’s always fun to find friends and hang out.
