Happy Dr. Seuss Day! We all love Dr. Seuss at our house, and Madison is really at an age where she loves to have Bailie read her his books.
Lately, Madison is a bit out of sorts about who she is. It has come to her attention when she is out meeting other dogs, none of them look like her. Bailie and I seem to be the only dogs who really look like her. It’s tough for kids to be different. Luckily, Dr. Seuss has a book for this problem called, The Shape of Me and Other Stuff.
Being a rare breed is not always an easy thing. People always ask what breed she is because she is different, they talk about how long and short she is, how long her ears are, but they do all agree she is adorable. Nevertheless, Madison needed some reassurance about her looks. Bailie was happy to spend time with her reading books about looks by Dr. Seuss.
After reading the books and talking about what it is like to be a GBGV, and not really like the other dogs, Bailie helped Madison write her own Dr. Seuss poem. I think they did a great job! You may remember, back in 2012, I wrote my own Dr. Seuss story called Go, Emma Dog, Go, fashioned after my favorite book, Go, Dog, Go!
Happy Dr. Seuss Day!

Love your wonderful poem and I went back and read Katie’s and Emma poem. It’s good to be different. You stand out in a crowd.
It’s fun being different, but when you are little, you want to fit in with everyone else. It takes some maturity to appreciate being your own hound.
Great job with the poem, girls. Being a special breed is tough. Just like being a non-breed, like me. People puzzle over the parts of me. Mom is no help – pointing out my long prehensile tail and suggesting I maybe part monkey!!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
It is difficult sometimes. Most think we are mixed breeds, but we are not. Bailie and I love being different, and Madison will too.
We love Dr. Seuss here too. To paraphrase…”I meant what I said, and I said what I meant a scent hound is faithful one hundred percent!” I am also different and I understand. Happy Dr. Seuss Day! XOXO, Sparkle
Bailie and I love being different, and Mom loves having different hounds too. Have a Dr. Seuss day!
That is the CUTEST poem EVER!! Well done, YOU!!
Thank you. It isn’t easy writing in Dr. Seuss style!
Love the poem!
Thank you. It took some time to start thinking in rhyme format.
if you still have some doubts Madison, we could be thing1 and thing2… that are those who ruled the world right?… or maybe I confused something there, I don’t know… but a Happy Birthday to the dogtor!
Madison will adjust. You know being a puppy, you always want to fit in, and it is hard when you are different.
