Last Thursday, Bailie ran her first agility course at the end of her first set of agility classes. Her favorite thing to do is the tunnel, long, short, straight or bent. Since she has played in the tunnel here at home, she is super comfortable with tunnels!
Amazingly, Bailie also loves to run up and down the A-Frame. She does a good job of slowing down at the end and getting her paws on the yellow area too! The last six classes have been hard with Mom in the boot. Bailie loves to run and chase, but since Mom can barely walk, she has to run the course in slow motion which is rather boring, but she still does try to do well.
The biggest accomplishment in Bailie’s ten week class is the teeter. Bailie did not like the loud noise the teeter makes, nor did she appreciate the movement. Mom spent a lot of time working on this piece of equipment with her, and Bailie enjoyed lots of good rewards like chicken, hot dogs, cheese, and steak. Finally, she is at the point where she will go over it. It is still a scary thing, but Bailie is making good progress.
For your entertainment, Bailie is showing off her first agility run in this short video. She did a real good job! You will notice she loses interest sometimes and walks over jumps. These problems should be resolved when Mom can start to run with her and keep her motivated and going. Her most proud moment is on the teeter, of course! Nice job, Bailie and hobble Mom! PS: Don’t mind the sad occasional howling in the background. It is Madison who doesn’t like to wait in the kennel.
That was terrific Bailie and it looks like you were having a fun time!
She likes it, but I think when the speed increases she will really start getting into it.
Great job, Bailie! I can imagine that teeter might be scary for a lot of dogs at first. We can’t wait to see how she does when your Mom can run with her!
We think she will be a wild racing agility dog when Mom can start running. This week she will at least be able to walk faster and more normal.
She did great! We used the Bil-Jac frozen food for the teeter when we first started training it–it was something special that our trainer brought just for the teeter and the dogs were all in love with the teeter from first taste! She did such a good job shifting her weight in the middle of it!
Thank you. Bailie taught herself that lay down/creep thing in the middle and it seems to work well for now at least. She can’t wait to get some speed going with Mom in a couple weeks.
Way to go Bailie!
She is doing pretty well considering she is almost four and most dogs start as puppies.
Bravo Bailie… that was fabulous how you mastered that teeter… and your mom is a trooper… honestly, she deserved some treats of that treatbag too for doing an agility course with you with her broken paw…
Mom loves our sports almost more than we do, so there was no stopping her from trying. In another week or two, she can start to run a bit which will help.
Yay, Bailie!! Joy, you did great too. π Loved hearing Madison arooo in the background. I missed seeing you, Emma. XOXO, Sparkle
I wouldn’t be interested in agility, not my kind of sport. I’m sticking with nose work and still a possibility of trying a tracking test again. The young ones can do the wild stuff!
Very nice job, Bailie – and mom, too! You were still pretty quick despite your boot.
For wearing a boot, Mom did well, but Bailie would like a lot more speed. In another week or two Mom will be able to start running a little bit.
I agree with Barbara, nice job – good boot work too!
We are so happy the boot is now off! We get some more walking time which increases ever day or so, and Mom will be better able to do sports with us again.
So awesome to see Bailie in action! Pretty amazing stuff especially considering that you’re a bit hobbled. I’m sure she’ll be a lot more eager to zoom when you’re running with her.
Bailie has always loved running games with Mom in the yard, so we think she will race happily around the agility course when Mom can run too. The main thing they wanted to accomplish was getting used to the equipment which did happen.
How fun. I have often wondered if Torrey would like agility.
She would probably love it. Depending on how old she is, it may be more difficult to get started. Lots of the equipment is scary to dogs who have never seen such things before.
YAY Bailie!!!!!! This was sooooo cute! Bailie did great!!! But…I am also quite impressed with YOU Mom!! You still aren’t healed and you got around quite well yourself!
Good job. That looks like fun but we think you should be running BOL
Lily & Edward
Hopefully they will both be running soon!
Wooftastic work Bailey!
3 bum swings! 3 more!
Look at you on the teeter!
Great video.
I’m afraid I would bark & act like a silly with all those other dogs watching.
Inspirational; thank you.
Nose nudges,
CEO Olivia
I’m pretty good at ignoring distracting other dogs. Madison might have more trouble with that!
Dat looks like fun!
It is fun. Learning and playing is always fun we think.
WE love watching Agilities.
It’s better is faster motion, but Bailie and Mom will get there.
Hopefully the mom will heal soon so she and Bailie can go tearing around the course. Can’t wait to see it.
The boot is now off, but it will still take time to heal completely. Last night there was already a bit of improvement.
Awww! She did really well and you moved good considering the boot. I know you are glad it is off.
Now we hope the healing finishes up quickly, but we are just thankful to be rid of the boot.
Nice job Bailie.
Go Bailie!!!
Smileys!

Wait until Mom can run with her!
Wow, that’s GREAT! We dabble in agility, and the teeter took Shyla almost a full year to love. Now, she truly loves it. If It’s not clear where I want her to go, she sprints onto the teeter! I am impressed with how far you’ve come despite you being in the boot. You are really dedicated. Imagine how great Bailie will be when you can run along, being a faster motivational handler. Yay! (When does that boot come off? Soon, I hope.)
The boot came off a week ago, but the ankle is still healing and no running for another week or two. Taking it slow because we don’t want to injure the ankle again. It will be so much more fun with speed. Bailie is a bit of a fearful girl, so we are proud of her teeter progress so quickly.
Great work, B. You were very brave!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
It’s really helping Bailie overcome some of her fears!
Nice job, Bailie! No doubt she’ll get better and faster after more practice. Still she looked pretty pawsome to us.
Once Mom can run I think she will perk up and run herself!
Mom looked like she was doing decently herself!
Awesome job!! Agility is one thing we haven’t tackled yet, I bet gambler would be good at it flying around like a monkey.
I think my sisters will love the running part when Mom can start running with them.
Nice job Bailie! Nice job mom too! Looking good on the scary Teeter! I bet Bailie thinks those 8-inch jumps aren’t even worth her time. ha!
She would fly over them if she was running, but with the hobble handler, no need to rush.
