Thirsty is the #PetPhotographyChallenge for week eleven. Madison got the shot of the week because of her delicate drinking from the fountain. This weeks challenge is technical since last week’s challenge was composition.
Why is Thirsty a technical challenge?
Catching a fast moving tongue and flying water droplets is not always easy! You need to have the right lighting and a fast shutter speed, or your photo will be blurry. We wish the flying droplets off of Madison’s tongue jumped out a bit more, but overall, we think this photo is pretty neat.
I gave it a try too, but I always sink my head into the water and there is nothing to see unless you have an under water camera! My beard and my left ear always come out soaking wet! The best my photographer could get, was after I came up for air, but the shot is not actually drinking, so we didn’t choose it.
What happened to Week 10?
The Other End of the Leash was the challenge for week 10, but something got messed up in the group, and it didn’t come out until week 11 started.
Composition was the goal, and we were supposed to get a photo that gave the feeling to anyone looking at the picture that they were themselves on the other end of the leash. This is a photo of me in my nose work uniform giving the photographer “the look”. I want to get busy searching, but she wants to take photos. I am not pleased!
See you all next week for Week 12!
I love the water droplets in your after picture! Madison looks so dainty drinking water–nobody around here would drink that nicely for a photo!
We can be true ladies at times!
I love the water droplets picture. That is awesome. Do you frame any of these wonderful pictures?
We have so many photos! Mom does choose some to hang on the wall, but most of them are preserved in the blog or social media.
Those were really, really good and the fountain is very nice! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Mom got it for kitty sis Sophie as she loves running water, but we dogs use it more than Sophie does!
love it!!! you caught THE moment… BRAVO!
Not always easy, but we did manage!
Madison is so dainty. I’m with you, Emma, belly up to the bar and stick your face into the bowl! XOXO, Sparkle
Mom is always complaining about all the dripping I do after drinking!
Love the little water drops. This one I’m going to pass on. We have a small bowl, and Torrey get her whole face in there to drink. Roxy too for that matter.
It is a tough one. It would be more fun in the summer with a pool or a pond to capture the drinking.
That’s a pretty cool fountain
Happy St. Patrick’s Day
Lily & Edward
It’s for the cats, but we dogs love it!
I love Madison’s tongue photo! Great thirsty action. ☺ I’m sending St. Patrick’s Day kisses to my Emma ♥ XXOO Bentley
Thank you, my Bentley! Little Madison is learning to drink like a lady.
Cool picture! My boys used to have a fountain, until my younger dog decided that emptying it all over the kitchen floor on a daily bases was great fun. Now we’re back to a regular old water bowl, maybe we’ll try the fountain again when our pup is older.
It’s really for the cats, but we dogs love to drink out of it.
Great photo!
Thank you.
Great tongue and water shots! We miss our fountain. It got broken when we moved. We considered getting a new one but just couldn’t find a good place to put it since it has to be plugged in. We ended up getting a Torus bowl instead, but that’s not as fun for Luke.
We have ours in Mom’s bathroom as it is the only tile floor near an outlet. We have two Torus bowls downstairs. Lots of water opportunities at our place!
Great thirsty shots! Enjoy your refreshing water.
We drink a lot of water at our house!
MOL! We can identify with the feelings behind The Look, that’s for sure! We loove fast shutter speeds – those water droplets of Madison’s are pawesome!
Thank you. With us moving furry ones, fast shutter speed it so important.
Pawsome job on the challenge. There’s no way I could capture Sam drinking from his dish. Even with my good DSLR so big canine kudos to your mom for doing a great job.
Luckily there are several of us to try with until one finally worked out!
I love those thirsty photos. You got the tongue curling under super well, and the water droplets were super cool! I’ve always thought that it would be fun to get a thin glass bowl and try to photograph drinking through the glass.
That would be a cool idea with the glass and magnification the glass might cause.
I think your water droplets are pretty amazing! I have lots of pictures of Ruby’s tongue, but only a handful are in focus. It is very challenging, you are right.
For us the hardest part was catching us drinking where you could actually see us drinking.
The pictures came out very nicely.
Thank you.
