What is a Wooly™ you are wondering? Dogs love to sniff. We sniff for so many reasons, but one big one is to find our food. The Wooly builds on our natural sniffing instinct! Remember, your dog needs not only physical exercise, they need mental challenges as well!
My GBGV Life received the PAW5 Wooly in this post to review. My GBGV Life receives no additional benefits for barking about PAW5 products or the company. The opinions in this review are the honest opinion of My GBGV Life. PAW5 is not responsible for the contents of this post.
The PAW5 Wooly is also the Official Snuffle Mat™. One could say the Wooly is really a scent game for dogs. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell! We rely on our noses for just about everything. Bailie and Madison love to sniff through their Wooly, but waiting for Mom to get it ready is a tough job!
A Wooly can be used as a game any time, or if you have a fast eating dog, you can use it as a feeding tool. The human hides food or treats in the mat, and then the dogs forage through looking for the food. The smaller the pieces and the deeper they are hidden makes the game that much harder, but still super fun for your dog! Pieces of food will not fall through onto the floor as the back of the mat is a solid piece of fabric. The mat is hand woven from pre-consumer fabrics.
We use our mat to work on our wait command. Mom has us sit right by the mat while she hides our treats and we have to wait to be released before we can get to work. Bailie and Madison get along and do everything together, but you should always supervise your dog when they use the mat, and if your dogs are at all food aggressive, don’t have them use the same mat.
If you are thinking about how dirty the mat gets with dogs sniffing and licking in it all the time, no problem. The Wooly is machine washable and goes in the dryer too. Simply have your younger sibling handle that task for you! The little ones love to help out!
Bailie, Madison, and Mom made this short video for you to demonstrate how we use our Wooly. What about me? I don’t work for my food. Mom says I’m an odd duck, but my sisters love any kind of food puzzle.
We think every dog deserves their own Wooly! If you don’t have one, you really should get one. They are for dogs of all ages and all sizes. Unless you have a diva dog like me, I know they will love it! If you like this mat, you might also like the PAW5 Rock’n Bowl I reviewed last year!
I love it!!! and it would be a super snuffle mat for me…I’m a nose-controlled pup :O) but in my current hooligan phase I would probably not only sniff on that mat :o)
You would sniff out the treats and then shred the mat, LOL!
You find the best stuff
Lily & Edward
Even you short nosers would like one of these!
Torrey would love this! Roxy is a maybe, but she does hoover along the floor sometimes looking for stray bits of food.
You can really build the excitement by having them wait by the mat and watch you hide the treats. They can’t wait to find them!
iI have never seen anything quite like that, it sure is cool!
Cat bro Bert hunts in it too, but it is supposed to be for us doggies!
When I first saw this I thought it was just another treat game, and wasn’t that interested. These guys make such short work of some treat games, that it just doesn’t seem that worthwhile to me. But when I read that they really use their noses for this, I was far more interested. We have one now to review, but haven’t tried it yet. Can’t wait! What a good idea to use it for training them to wait as well!
Cricket doesn’t always like to work for her food either, Emma, so it will be interesting to see how she feels about this!
I work for food say in nose work, but if you serve my meal in a puzzle, I will skip my meal, and same with the mat. My sisters just love it!
This is cool. We love the video. Madison is such a puppy!! And even though she loves her it does look like Bailie is rolling her eyes a little bit at Madison!! great post Emma. your doodle friend Dash
These mats are super fun! Bailie is at that awkward age where she is all puppy, but then she tries to be mature. They are bff’s no matter what!
Shadow is like you, Emma. Ducky eats wet food only, though, so I’m afraid it would get pretty messy! ? I could use it for her bedtime treats, though…inside her crate.
She might like that and it would really wear her out before bed.
that is so cool – I saw something similar on facebook the other day – a lady was making them
We have a homemade one too. They are so much fun to use!
I don’t have a wooly mat, but we used to have a shag carpet area rug. We didn’t hide treats in the care area rug, but Adelle used to like pulling out the long strands 🙁 I think the wooly mat is much more appropriate for dogs.
Madison will try to rip the Wooly apart after she finishes searching, so we just put it away. It is very durable, but there is a limit to how much chewing and pulling it will take. Since it smells like food, it is kept out of reach when we are not searching.
THAT is a COOL thingy.
You boys would love to sniff through one too.
We have one too and absolutely LOVE it! DakotasDen
It is a real fun puzzle toy for any dog.
Pawfect. I love treat games.
Wooftastic live action Bailie & Madison.

My sisters love it. Sometimes they sit and beg for Mom to get the Wooly down to play.
The boys might enjoy sniffing some treats or kibble from that!
I think they would. It’s simple hunting for food.
That’s a cool product.
These food puzzle things are so much fun!
That looks like fun. I think brown dawgs would destroy it though…lol.
Ours is kept out of reach unless we are using it for that reason.
Barley and Soth love our Wooly. Barley used it a lot when we had our foster dog and then when she had to be kept separate from Rye at first. Soth likes to nap on top of it. Ours is in the closet right now because Rye will eat it if she gets the chance, so she hasn’t tried it out yet. Her way of solving any treat puzzle is to chew new holes in them, so I figured with the Wooly she wouldn’t be too into sniffing for snacks and would just eat it, too. I’m glad you girls get to enjoy it, too!
Madison will rip at it if the treats are all gone, so ours is put out of reach after each use too. It’s a fun puzzle.
What a great way to slow down the eating!! Very cool!
It’s a dog thing, but cat bro Bert hunts through it too.
Believe it or not mom completely missed this at Global, even in the New Product Showcase. She actually saw it used on TODAY and wished we had one to try out. It’s the best treat/food challenge we’ve seen yet. Love Dolly
My sisters love sniffing around in it.
Your sniffling-snuffling sisters are too cute, Emma. Looks like a very cool and fun mat.
They love sniffing in their mat!
My dogs would love one of these, maybe that would motivate them to help with the laundry. Madison is so dang smart and cute!
LOL! Maybe they would do their own laundry including the mat?
Does Bert like this mat? I’m thinking Beamer would like it!
