The heat is on in Minnesota! June arrived, took away the cold air and rain, and delivered heat. We are not heat fans here at all! I’m still a beach dog at heart. Those early formative months of my life spent on the North Sea have stuck with me! I only wish I had an ocean to romp in when it is so warm out! Minnesota beaches are just not the same!
Around where we live, most beaches don’t allow dogs, and some places say dogs are not allowed to swim either! Can you believe that? I love to get into the fresh water and cool off on a walk. I did just that the other morning when it was so humid and hot out!
At home, I’m a big fan of my little pool. It isn’t much, but I can climb in, lay down, and drink up until I feel nicely cooled off. Water is my thing, no matter how I find it!
My sisters didn’t grow up around water like I did, and especially Madison really doesn’t know what to think about water.
Bailie isn’t afraid to get into water and swim, or wade around in the pool to stay cool.
Madison looks at the nice clean, cool pool and says, “No thank you”. Someone needs to teach her to go into the water.
Despite the heat, the rowdies can’t help but run around in the yard. Mom brought out our Tuggo Ball from two years ago and they both had a blast with it! Madison was the first one to really want to play.
Bailie easily got a hold of the middle of the rope starting a game of tug for the ball.
An all out game of tug a war was set into motion, but I think we all know who will be the winner of the prize ball!
Of course, Bailie got it and started to take off running with the prize! Madison isn’t a quitter and wanted the toy back in her possession.
Bailie had no intention of giving up the Tuggo to her little sister. They raced and raced until Bailie tired of the game and let Madison have the toy back. The heat is on, but so are the crazy ones at my house!
we have the same rules here, the most beaches say NO DOGS in summer… but I don’t want to swim in winter, so we stay at home… in my new pool the mama will not furget again this week when he shops groceries and trashures…
My pool is my best bet and the water is clean.
Rye saw her first pool like that at her friend’s house the other day–she usually loves to get wet, but I guess the pool water was too clean for her because she’d get close enough to take a sip out of it, but she was not going to get in it no matter what her friend was doing. Looks like you’re having fun despite the heat! It’s still only in the 60s here, so Barley is happy with that kind of summer.
Sadly, 90’s here and we are not fans!
You need a bigger pool! I sure wish you could borrow my pool as I do not like it! My mom will not let me give it away….something about an in-ground pool and concrete. Well, I tried! Let the play continue. XOXO, Sparkle
I don’t like pools that big. I never would go in ours in FL. I like lakes and oceans, though.
I think your heat will be headed our way in a couple days. I know we should be careful what we wish for, but the rainy and cool is really getting old here, and we want to fill that pool up!
You are very wise to get right in there and lie down to cool off, Emma. Hopefully Madison will figure out that it is a good thing in time. If the two crazies keep running around like that in the heat, they are sure going to need it! π
Madison needs to go to the lake a few more times with Bailie I think.
I love how Bailie looks so full of mischief. It’s hot here too, evenings and early mornings are play and walk time.
Bailie is a true puppy at heart!
The heat was on here too, for one day, so it’s really nice out again. We hate the heat too. It would be great for Emma to visit us and go to the dog beach where her and Taffy can go get wet and I’ll stay dry on the sand with Madison. Love Dolly
Madison would appreciate that, but we do hope she learns to love water like me and Bailie.
Madison will probably join you in the pool soon. It has been hot down here but we don’t have a pool. We come inside and lay on the cool floor under the ceiling fan to cool off. We may have to try a pool this summer. XXOO β₯ Bentley
You boys must have a pool. You can drink out of it while cooling off…2 for 1!
The heat is on here too!
We think about snow when it gets this hot!
Yep, you need a bigger pool so they can get into it together. Fun to see their antics!
We need to move to a lake I think.
We’ve had very cool days (except for the Thurs and Fri I was at BlogPaws.) Now they say we are coasting into the 90’s. It will be hotter each day going forward, until Sunday when we hit the 9-0. I am not a fan of the heat, and I am NOT looking forward to it.
We had 3 days of 90 over the weekend and it will be in the 90’s this weekend. Bailie has a NW trial in the heat…LOL…glad it is not me! Of all three of us, she handles heat the best.
I have a feeling your summer pool days are just beginning, Emma. Now you need to train your mom to bring refreshing beverages out to you while you’re lounging. We’ve had days and days and days of rain, but the weather humans say your heat is headed our way. Pool party anyone?
No need for drinks…I just drink my pool water π
We are kinda like Madison when it comes to water..
We hope she tries water and learns to love it…maybe she will be a professional dock diving dog…or not…
You girls always make us smile. Your little pool looks SO cool and fresh. And after a game of tug, that’s what the kids will need. I’m surprised that didn’t get Madison to reconsider.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Mom and Bailie will work on her.
I hope y’all keep your cool. That last photo is such a smile maker!
It’s going to be a scorcher again this weekend. Don’t like that.
Somehow, I didn’t know that you were in MN! I love your bears π I took a bear behavior course there a few years ago.
That tuggo toy looks like a blast!!!! And what a nice cool pool. You are some very lucky pups!
We do have bears up north and occasionally, they do cause trouble coming into towns and neighborhoods in the cities here.
Pawsome pics!
I with you Emma. I love the water but not the pool my huMom bought for me?
Fortunately, I have access to a lot of water where I live.
Nose nudges,
CEO Olivia
I miss the real beaches, but a girl can’t have everything.
We really enjoyed all of your photos! We are getting all of that heat and not looking forward to it! We have already cranked up the A/C! Have to get the pool ready!
We are not happy about it at all. Hopefully it will go away and we will have cooler weather soon.
Stay cool, we’re going to have a heat wave this weekend.
100 around here Sat and Sun and we have a nose work trial all weekend. Should be interesting.
The young’uns were having too much fun to bother with the pool that day. But I think Bailie needs to show Madison how to enjoy the pool.
They tried going into a lake yesterday, but then Bailie got spooked by a bunch of fish and that ended that try!
How fun that your sisters enjoy a great game of tug-o-war. Summer heat is on here too, mid 90’s tomorrow and Saturday. Ugh. I think I’ll be exercising in the dark and staying indoors during the day. π
I’ll be home with my paws up in the a/c, my sisters will be out with Mom at nose work on and off. No fun in the heat.
We hear that!
A water filled pool on the deck when the heat index is high has got to be like heaven on earth to a dog.
Except for Madison who isn’t sure about water yet.
We have three water dogs here. As long as they are retrieving, they are happy.
We just enjoy being in the water, no retrieving.
