What do you do with dog treat crumbs? They are in the bottom of snack bags and boxes all the time, but don’t you dare throw them out! I will show you how to easily turn them into something tasty!
Whether you have freeze dried snacks, cookies, jerky, or any kind of snacks, when the snacks are gone the crumbs remain in the bottom of the container. I can’t stand the thought of throwing the crumbs in the garbage, so I reuse them to make something yummy.
At my house we repurpose the crumbs into toppers, stuffed bones, and stuffed Kongs.
Freeze dried treats are scrumptious, but, they seem to have the most crumbs of all! At our house, we use them as toppers for our meals!
Heck yeah! Why buy more freeze dried toppers when you can add the crumbs. I feel sprinkling the crumbs on our food is similar to humans sprinkling spices onto their meals!
My sisters are big on stuffed bones and Kongs. You can make some easy stuffed ones with just a couple ingredients and some crumbs.
I like to use yogurt and peanut butter mixed with the crumbs. Mom says it reminds her of ice cream or yogurt with sprinkles. You can also add some honey or maple syrup if you want. Most of the time we mix, stuff, serve, and devour, but you can also freeze the stuffed bones or Kongs which makes them more like ice cream.
To keep the calorie count down a bit, I don’t fill the bones or Kongs all the way, but I do spread the filling around in the entire inside of the bone or Kong.
I don’t know about you, but all this talk about crumbs is making me hungry! Don’t you dare toss out those dog treat crumbs! Use them as toppers, stuff them into bones or Kongs and serve right away, or freeze for later! Simple and yummy!
thanks for a super idea… now we can fill the ole marrow bones with much tastier stuff than only with a carrot ;o)
A carrot? What are you trying to do? Attract wabbits? No carrots for me, thank you!
We use ours as toppers also. Katie love it.
We knew you were a smart cookie π I’m sure she loves it like we do.
That’s a great idea. Torrey likes a stuffed kong, so I know she would like this.
It’s an easy way to add flavor with something you already have on hand.
Mom sprinkles the crumbs on our foods. We like the crumb idea stuff
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
It’s a great use for crumbs, isn’t it!
I sometimes use them as toppers as well, but it never occurred to me to mix them in with something else for making frozen treats. What a great idea!
It can add flavor and crunch to Kongs or stuffed bones!
Great ideas!?
Thank you!
We use our crumbs as toppers because frozen treats upset my tummy. You are looking adorable in your hat and apron. XXOO Bentley β₯
Oh Bentley, I have to be careful with frozen treats too. Sometimes they upset my tummy as well, but my sisters don’t have any trouble. I do like the stuffed bones without being frozen, Kongs are too much work in my opinion!
These are great ideas! I am turning my frugal hat over to you because I never even thought of this. Silly me!
We’ve been doing this forever, but Mom thought it is so simple, many folks might not think of it.
3 bum swings! 3 more!
We use the crumbs as toppers but have not tried your other pawsome idea.I love my Kong stuffed with coconut oil or almond butter.
Thank you for sharing your recipe Emma.

Something simple we figured not everyone had thought of.
You’re brilliant, Emma. I’m forwarding this to my humans, and I’m expecting some pretty yummy treats pronto!
I love to help out my fellow dogs. Anything tasty needs to be shared!
Wow Emma…we are going to make sure Mama starts doing this!! Thanks for the great tip!
Super simple and yummy!
Emma! You look so professional in your cooking clothes! Almost human! We use the crumbs as toppers, but Chloe isn’t a big fan of the kong either!
Kongs are for dogs and I consider myself a lady π My sisters tend to be more dog like.
Crumb toppers are the BEST. Mom always sprinkles the last bits on my food. Maybe she’ll mix them into my yogurt ice pops. We never thought of that!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Mom says it is like when humans add sprinkles or cookie crumbs to their ice cream treats. Yum!
Hrm. wonder if we kitties would like that. We’re not too fond of yogurt (at least the plain stuff the mom eats) but holy cat – have you ever tried that whipped CREAM out of a CAN? NOMILICIOUS!
My kitties always lick out Mom’s yogurt container in the morning.
THAT is a fabulous idea! I have a whole jar full of beef lung crumbs, that I was trying to figure out how to repurpose them. I never thought to use them in a KONG!! Brilliant.
It’s such a simple idea, but most never think of it. Your pups will love you!
Gosh, what a brilliant idea. I’m gonna start saving those crumbs for treat projects!
You may as well use them since they are perfectly good and paid for!
I always save the crumbs to use as food toppers, but I love the idea of mixing them into a treat recipe! I hadn’t thought of that. Emma is the best little baker, these photos are super adorable!
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Thank you. It’s a simple idea, but another good use for crumbs.
Those look yummy!
It’s some great ways to use up those crumbs.
