I had some Friday fun with Mom on the trail at Lebanon Hills Regional Park last Friday! We go walking there a few times a year and always love it! Lately, Mom has been taking either me or my sisters for a special walk on Friday afternoons when she has the time. Since Bailie and Madison got to do barn hunt the week before, it was my turn for fun!
Even though we have been coming here for years, every time is different and interesting! First stop was the portage spot on this side of the lake. It has to be tough canoeing through all the lily pads!
We love all the nice, elevated wood paths they have put in. Years ago, it was always a muddy mess. Mom has been coming here for like thirty years, so she has really seen a lot of changes! The woods is pretty thick, but I had my tick stuff on and we didn’t find a single one on me after our walk! Whew!
My belly was getting a bit hungry, but the waitstaff at the picnic table was nowhere to be seen. I finally gave up on the idea of eating a meal in the woods and settled for the treats Mom brought along for me.
The lily pad situation is out of control on the lake. We don’t know why it is so. There are also a lot of turtles along the edges of the lake, but they jump in the water when the see me coming. Little do they know I’m scared to death of turtles. I bark, howl and carry on to get them to go away.
The park has done a lot of work with all the trees that have fallen down. It is hard to find one lying around as they have mostly been taken away. We are happy they take such good care of the park.
If you are on Facebook you may have seen this photo of me Mom took on our hike. Yes, it was taken on June 30, 2017, and yes, it is me. I am convinced a good diet and lots of exercise keeps a hound girl like me looking like a puppy even at almost eleven years old! I wonder what the walk will be this afternoon or if my sisters will be taking one instead?
You are always the most beautiful GBGV I have ever seen! Happy trails to you! XOXO, Sparkle
Thank you. Mom says I have a special fluffy look ๐
I can’t believe you ate 11 already. You are still a puppy to me. I also love that your mom spends time with each of you alone. You are one special family.
We rotate time with Mom a lot and we all love it. I’m not quite eleven, only two months to go!
That looks a great place to walk. So nice when cities make good spaces for people and dogs.
It’s a huge area, which means we have been lost many times, but we always find our way back out!
That’s our kind of fun filled day
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Yep! We love it too!
I haven’t started taking the Boys on separate trips a lot – I was waiting for Jaxson to get a little older. That’s another reason why I think I need a third Doodle – don’t you agree?
We have always had lots of separate stuff from the day we arrive. The little ones can’t do as much, so they get their own walks and then they take puppy classes, etc. It’s good to do things alone sometimes. A third doodle is a great idea? Why not?
that is a wonderful place… and I agree every time when we visit such a place we discover something new… oh I wish I would discover turtles at my park one day too…
I’m so scared of those prehistoric creatures! You can have all our turtles!
Looks like a fun place to visit!!
It’s great for a nice walk!
Oh, Emma, I just love that you and your mom had this special afternoon together. Little sisters can demand a lot of attention, so it’s nice when us senior girls get one-on-one time with our humans. And might I say, for a only-somewhat-senior girl, you’re definitely looking puppy-ish. Maybe that lake is actually the fountain of youth.
I get lots of special treatment because I like it so much. My sisters do tons of stuff together but I am not interested in their nonsense! I think diet and exercise are keeping me young.
Oh la-la! You are looking so beautiful that it makes my heart speed up โฅ I’d love to walk in the woods holding paws with you โฅ Your Basset, Bentley XXOO
You would love it! Tons of squirrel smell and other wild creatures and a hound can always take a dip in the lake if it gets too warm.
I hope the turtles don’t give you nightmares. Sure looks fun.
No. Thankfully I rarely see one.
Emma, I love that picture of you, you DO look like a puppy! That’s so great you got to have a fun walk with your Mom at a favorite place. Those wood walkways look so nice, they obviously take very good care of that place (other than needing more reliable waitstaff for the picnic tables – LOL).
It’s tough for a girl to get a good meal out hiking these days!
That sure looks like a nice area and the water looks nice too!
It’s just hard to find under all the lily pads!
Barley is scared of turtles, too! She’s happy to know she’s not alone.
Mom says it is a weird fear, but it is my fear.
What a great hike, Emma…I think the last photo sums up how much you liked it!!
xoxo

I did have a great time!
Emma you always make my day! You are a sweetheart and beautiful
Thank you. I like to spread happiness.
Wow, that’s A LOT of lilypads! A person trying to paddle a canoe through there would certainly build up some hefty arm muscles.
You are as lovely as sunshine Miss Emma!
Thank you. We did see one couple canoeing, but it would be tough.
You look so clean and very pretty Emma, looks like a great place to walk and have me time w/Mom. Lily pads reproduce very quickly. We bought 2 one year and before the end of the season, the little pond was totally covered.:)
I think they must be in the week family! They are cool, but too many of them is not good either.
What a beautiful walk and great pictures.
Thank you. We had a lot of fun together.
First I have to say that you look stunning at the age of 11 Emma! You are in seriously great shape, a role model for your sisters. This looks like a great park, I love that they have raised wooden walkways, that’s the best. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
Thank you. I think a good diet and exercise is my secret.
Oh my gosh almost 11 you are looking great
Mom says one minute I’m mature and acting like almost 11 and the next I look like this and am back to a puppy. It’s a good thing.
It looks like a super nice place for a walk, and I’m glad your tick protocol held up, they are just so vile.
Absolutely hate ticks. They need to be eradicated from this planet!
