It’s birthday week kickoff for little Madison who will turn one on Thursday! Mom said it was time for her to go to the real spa to be spiffed up for her special day. I’m not due for a trip to the spa for a few more weeks, so Mom took my sisters since they do everything together anyway.
You can’t miss the enthusiasm the two of them were exuding while waiting to get checked in at Fancy Paws Pet Salon! Both of my sisters have been to a groomer for baths and nails, but never to a really good one to get their furs stripped. A real spa day seemed to be a bit frightening for these two!
What do you think of the first shot of little Madison with her new cleaned up look? We are super lucky because by coincidence, our groomer actually knows a GBGV breeder in Florida and has learned how to groom us properly. Most groomers don’t strip coats and certainly have no idea how to groom hounds like us. One of the most important things is our head, and making sure it is all shaped correctly.
My sisters and I each have different furs. Mine are super soft and thick. Bailie has thin, very wiry furs. Madison is a mix of us both. Mom took before and after shots of Madison to see how much better she looks.
Just like with me, they each had so much fur stripped out, Mom had to make their collars smaller! The shagginess is definitely gone from Madison’s look!
It sure looks like the birthday week kickoff is going well. Madison is looking great and feeling good after getting all spiffed up! The big trick now will be to keep these two shiny clean furry ones from digging and rolling in the dirt for a few days! Stay tuned for more birthday preparations and celebrations every day this week!

oh a spa day how great… think that#s THE day for all girls ;o) please tell me how such a birthday ist Madison, I never had one and I feel a little unsure what I have to do that day…
We have a whole bunch of stuff planned and she is really excited for the actual day and the party with us.
Those two girls are sure looking good! Whenever our crew is clean and spiffed up, I can’t stop looking at them (and smelling them!) either! But I wonder, will the birthday girl hold that look until her birthday? Good luck with that! 🙂
So far so good. Mom can’t stop looking at them either! It’s going to be rain on and off starting Wednesday, so that may end the beauty streak!
I cannot believe that Madison is already a year old! That zoomed by but she has certainly grown into a lovely young lady. The groomer did a fur-bulous job on them.
Mom is sad her youngest baby is leaving puppy age to become a hound, but she is so proud of her and all she has done in her first year. Madison is the perfect addition to our family!

Mom always wears sunglasses when she picks us up from the spa because of the glare off the clean furs! LOL!

We get stripped too – it are tuff to find someone who knows how to groom us right, so most of da time, our peeps just do it themselves. It’s not perfect, but “good enuf.”
It’s almost impossible to find anyone to do our furs and then correctly. We are really lucky to have found our perfect spa person!
Amazing transformation! Staying like that is another story for those fun-seekers.
