Turning one is so much fun! Happy Birthday to our Ethos Intel Inside, Madison! May every year be as great or better than your first! Now that she is one, let’s look back at some things she has done! We’ll give that first year some really big cheer!
On August 10, 2016, Wilmit Fantisie, aka Isabeau, gave birth to ten beautiful baby GBGV’s, six boys and four girls with the proud father being Debucher Greffier (Emma’s half brother from England). Mom wanted a girl, who was the breed standard, would stay dark in color, and would be a good performance dog. Little Madison is that pup! Named “wing baby” because of the black wing markings on her back we knew she was perfect. Katie was nicknamed Engelchen, little angle in English, so these angle wings became a sign for us, Madison was meant to be in our family!
Before leaving, Madison’s birth mother gave her some advice for her future life and a nice kiss good bye.
She was a bit sad leaving all her brothers and sisters behind. They all wanted to go along with her, but we only needed one puppy. Since Madison was the first puppy to leave the nest, the others were a bit confused.
Mom scooped up Madison and gave her lots of love before getting in the car and heading back home.
Bailie was along to pick up Madison, but I waited at home. The next day we tried to get a photo, but learned Madison needed to work on her modeling skills!
Once Madison arrived at our house, her new life filled with big milestones began! Just days after arriving she started Puppy Einstein class and passed with flying colors in December.
A pup’s first year is full of first holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and more!
In December she met her first snow and just loved it. Bailie took on the job of teaching her about snow and cold but Miss Sassy Pants didn’t feel like she needed any help.
I have spent my time teaching and disciplining the little one too. Madison needs to respect her oldest sister, and I think she knows that.
January marked the beginning of agility classes for Madison. She has been through several classes and is now in Foundations 2. We are not sure if she will keep going and eventually compete, but as long as she has fun, she will continue.
February, meant dealing with a mom who had a broken ankle, but also Madison’s first road trip with Bailie to Appleton, Wisconsin for nose work. She traveled well, handled the hotel like a pro, and supported Bailie. This was the beginning of a life full of fun little road trips.
In April, Madison completed her Obedience 1 course, and earned her first title, CGC. We are so proud of her!
The biggest accomplishment of her first year is her TD, Tracking Dog Title, earned at just eight months old. Madison tracks like a pro and we hope to see more titles soon.
Madison had so many more accomplishments and awesome experiences, but we can only highlight a few of them. Happy birthday, little sis! We love you and are so happy to have you in our family! Love, Emma, Bailie, and Mom

She cried the entire 7 hour trip home, but that was the end of that…on to bigger and better things and she is still climbing!
