It was a “Grand” first birthday party for Madison yesterday. The day started out wet and rainy, but the sun came out and we were able to set up our party on the deck. With some wind gusts, we had to tape down a few things to keep them from blowing away, but the temperature was great and we had a lovely time!
Madison is our hot pink girl, and she loves Minnie Mouse which is why we have the Disney decor. She got to choose the decorations and her cake, lucky dog! Her nose was very interested in the cake plate, but she used her manners and did not steal anything.
If you remember, Madison requested I bake her liver cake, which I did. Cake alone is boring and it is summer, so I decided to whip up some honey ice cream to use as cake toppers. I used non-fat plain Greek yogurt, added honey, mixed, put in my small paw molds and froze it. I think the look is quite festive and the taste? To drool for!
After howling a personalized rendition of Happy Birthday, we dug into our cake. Let me tell you, it did not last long! Talk about delicious! Madison, no surprise, took her time, but truly enjoyed her cake.
Since the weather wasn’t real great until later in the day, we let Madison open her gifts over the course of the morning. First up was Bailie who gave her a squeaky/crinkle chicken. I think Bailie plans on lots of playtime with it as well.
I’m into fashion, so it was a no brainer to order up some new Up Country Collars for Madison. She represents not only my blog, but our breed, and she needs to look good. Since we are similar in color, I think I can borrow one or two of them too.
Mom didn’t get Madison anything she can “dig her teeth into”, but she did get her something useful. On Saturday, Madison will be taking three odor recognition tests. You need those green papers to enter, which is why Mom decided it would be a good gift. We know the little one can pass, but we will see if she can work as a team with Mom. She has to pass the Birch test if she wants to start competing in nose work. Both Mom and Madison are excited to see how it goes.
The biggest package of the day came from Chewy.com. I am a #ChewyInfluencer, and they were so sweet to send Madison a birthday package. As soon as the box was open she grabbed the musical, stuffed cake.
Chewy.com also sent along some other fun gifts, a birthday cake, a ball, and a Nylabone. Lots of things to keep Madison entertained.
What was the favorite gift of the day? The musical, stuffed birthday cake. We are all sick and tired of hearing happy birthday being played over and over again, but it was Madison’s day, so we let her keep the music running!
Thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes! Madison has had a pawsome birthday week which exceeded her wildest dreams, and believe me, she has some wild dreams! That’s a wrap! Time for Miss Sassy Pants to get some rest!
Beautiful pictures, beautiful dogs, beautiful day! You outdid yourselves for your sweet Little Madison. XOXO, Sparkle
There is only one first birthday, so it has to be special!
oh that was a wonderful pawty! I love the fabulous decoration and the special pup-cakes!!! and the mama awwed and ohhed as she saw the beautiful new collars… she is no longer allowed to buy more collars for me, my dad said 87 are enough… but can we really have enough collars?
We have around 65 for all of us, but that is not enough! I love collars.
Wow, that looks like some party! I like the yogurt toppers on your liver cakes, what a nice idea. Looks like you made out like a bandit, Madison – Happy Birthday!
Love & Biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
She had a wonderful day and is taking it easy today.
An outstanding birthday !! Martha Stewart would be impressed with your table decorations and the cake/ice cream. Hooray for parties and presents! (PS we just ordered new collars from Upcountry too!!). Have a good rest after such a busy week!! your doodle friend Dash
Yay for you guys! There are always more we “need” to have! Just love them. Madison is resting up today as she has her nose work debut tomorrow morning first thing.
We are going to have our Mom make us some of those treats. They sound soooo yummy!
If food snob Madison who doesn’t like to eat loves them, they have to be good. Bailie and I love the cakes too.
That looks like the best party ever.
It was pretty fun. Little Madison had a very enjoyable day.
Wow, I’ve never been to such a festive birthday party! How sweet of you to make liver cake for Madison’s special day. Honey is very jealous.
Mom was not thrilled about the liver cake idea, but because Madison is so picky and loves liver, we got to do it!
Such a grand pawty sweet Madison, you earned a good rest!
She’s had some busy days and is actually winding down a bit!
A tired pup at the end of the day means it was a successful birthday party! It sure looks like it was full of fun. Can’t wait to hear how Madison’s tests go this weekend! Be sure to give her a little pep talk before she goes, Emma. π
Sadly, she seems to listen to Bailie more than me and she only passed one of three tests, but it was a good learning experience.
What a wonderful birthday! I am so glad that she had a great time and your cakes look delicious.
That liver cake may be the best cake I’ve made yet! Yum!
What a wooftastic Barkday Party!!
Madison is one lucky girl to have so much love surrounding her!
3 bum swings! 3 more!
Madison eats like a lady; so do I. We like to take our time & enjoy our food & treats.
Thank you for sharing your special day with us.
Nose nudges,
CEO Olivia
Madison is so very picky and slow it is not even funny! Mom is really hoping she speeds up a little bit at least with age.
Emma, it’s much better for Madison that she is a slow eater. Ducky eats so fast that I literally cannot give her kibble – her body cannot digest it at the rate she “inhales” it, even with the food toys. And I still have to use a “slow-feed” bowl with her wet food.
Looks like it wuz a fun birthday!
Madison had a wonderful birthday, and we all enjoyed the day.
OMG this could NOT be any cuter!!! Happy Happy Birthday Madison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have one incredibly special (and creative) Mama!!! xoxo
Thank you. Mom says she has three very special girls who all deserve to be spoiled to the hilltops, whatever that means. We can’t complain.
Looks like it was great party..lovely decorations and yummy cake & ice cream!! You girls know how to do it right! ?
A first birthday is always super special!
Happy Birthday Madison! I just love these photos so much – so precious and adorable! I sure wish Ruby would wear hats (for photos). She doesn’t like them at all.
Bummer, we all love to wear hats or glasses, or anything really.
What a pawsome pawty!! Looks like a good time was had by all!!
Happy Birthday Madison!!
xoxo

Thank you. It was a real nice day for the little one.
That party was a real blowout! SO glad the birthday was a good one, M. I actually have that same chicken toy (which Mom told me was a turkey) AND the musical birthday cake! Good luck on your odor recognition challenge!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Mom is getting tired of that musical cake really fast, but it is super cute! Hope your chicken/turkey is enjoying some good tug a war action like ours!
Oh Emma, thanks for showing me Madison’s party and gifts. I am going to be two years old in a few days and no one is sayng anything ab out a party or gifts for me. Maybe since mom read this to me she will get the hint. I really want to go shopping with her for my presents. Elbe
Love is the most important thing, but if you can manage some good food and gifts they make nice bonuses π
Great pix!! I had crummy weather for my birthday too, but that’s okay. I had my girls – and my furry angel girls! – and their daddy with me. That’s all that really matters – being surrounded by those you love and who love you. Madison looks so adorable with her cake toy! Sweet of Chewy to send her birthday presents!
Good cake and family are the same no matter what the weather!
Pawsome pawty for a pawsome pup.
She is our little super star in the family!
What a super birthday.
She had a lot of birthday fun!
oh Madison, Happy Birthday!!!! What a pawesome party!!
Thank you. She had a great first birthday!
That looks like SO much fun! Sampson had that same B’day cake toy, a few years back.
It is fun until your baby sister plays the music for hours on end and Mom allows it because it is her birthday!
I’m sorry I’m late to wish you a ‘happy birthday’, Madison! I can see you had a great time.
She had a wonderful birthday and is loving being one.
