Madison had her first library visit with Gramma last weekend. I’ve gone to the library many times, the first five years ago. Looking back, some of my first library experience was similar to Madison’s.
My mom is not into reading or books at all, and it seems Madison is following that same track. She did look at some books, but meeting stuffed friends was far more interesting. The highlight of the day was meeting and posing for a photo with the famous red dog, Clifford! I too posed with Clifford on my first library visit!
If you don’t know Clifford, he has written many, many great books. Being Clifford, he did manage to get Madison so sit down and read one of his books for a little while at least.
Curious George was also at the library when Madison was there. She later told me, he was her favorite because he seemed to be the most adventurous of all the friends she met. I can imagine her hanging out with Curious George and getting into some trouble!
Out of nowhere came this handsome big shaggy fellow with a rose for Madison. Normally she is crazy about boys, but she says he was a bit odd. Perhaps he came on a little too strong? I think she prefers boys that are more on the wild side and not so serious.
After hanging out for a while, it was time to leave. Madison wanted to bring some of her new friends home, but not any books – no surprise there! Even if she didn’t do much reading on her first library visit, it was still a good experience for her!
heheh I agree with you to bring new friends home is much better than to bring books ;o) …but on the other hand books are tasty… I ate the last two pages of the mamas book… now she will never know the name of the evil doer LOL
I ate a book when I was a puppy. Mom had to pay for it, so she was not real happy.
Way to go Madison! I devour books – hence I will not be going to any library soon. Elbe
Oh dear. That is not a good hobby.
Your Mom doesn’t like books??? What?????????? And…I never even knew that dogs were allowed in libraries! Live and learn!
Mom never liked reading, even when she was little. She was in the top reading books, but always dreaded having to read books. Usually therapy dogs are allowed in libraries, not any dogs. Gramma has a library connection, so we can visit.
These pictures are priceless. I just want to hug her!
Thank you. She is a little sweetie and Mom is always hugging her if Bailie isn’t!
How fun that the library allows dogs. I love that.
It is rare, but we can go to this one.
Who would have thought the library would be the place to go to meet so many new friends! I guess Madison learned even if you don’t like books, it’s a fun place to visit! I love that your library allows dogs too (oh, I see in the comment above that Gramma has an in…it’s always good to have connections!).
Gramma’s are good for so many reasons!
I love libraries and book stores. It is easy for me to spend massive amounts of time perusing books. Of course, I worked in a library for years and my daughter works in one in Washington. We are both book lovers.
My mom used to be at the library all the time in High School, but it was doing research because she was on the debate team. Other than that, she is not meant for the library at all – too quite, and too many books. She likes more action!
We love seeing beautiful Madison with her library pals!
She is quite the little cutie!
The look on her face with the big teddy bear is SO FUNNY. My daughter used to love the Clifford books when she was younger
I think Clifford is a great guy to get kids to read.
Oh my gosh! Looks like you had a great time at the library!
She had a pretty fun time but was sad to leave the stuffies behind.
So cute! If only Madison could have used her little library card to check out her new stuffed friends. π My human mommy used to volunteer at elementary schools helping children with their reading skills. She always selected books about dogs for them to read. Clifford books were some of her favorites. Thanks for bringing back some special memories for her. <3
That is sweet. Who wouldn’t love Clifford? Madison was really into the stuffies!
What cool new friends Madison got to meet at the library!
xoxo

Madison loved the stuffie friends and they seemed to love her too!
What a fun visit!
She had a fun time, but then again, she is always having fun.
Never took either of my dogs to the library. I’m not sure our libraries allow dogs.
Most don’t, but some small private ones might.
Watch out Emma – a dog that reads could be a dangerous thing around the house. LOL
Madison is into picture books, which isn’t a real threat.
