It was dog day fun at Nelson’s Apple Farm for Bailie and Madison about a week ago! I got to go to an orchard with Mom before, and with it being super hot, I elected to stay home and let the wild ones head out.
There are only a few dog friendly orchards and pumpkin farms around our area. Our good blogging friend Spencer actually found this farm and decided to host the event! They only had time for this quick shot because Spencer was overrun with duties being the host dog!
When they first arrived they found this super cute old pick up truck all decked out for fall. There was a “stay off” sign, so they couldn’t get onto the truck.
Being an apple farm, my sisters insisted on finding some apple trees. These Honey Crisp apples are super popular which is why they decided to pose by that tree. I think they may be the official apple of Minnesota too!
Every good farm place has to have some pumpkins too. Bailie and Madison found the pumpkin patch, but there were a lot of sand burrs, so the had to be very careful.
Have you ever gone into a corn maze? My mom never has, but having my sisters along, she thought it would be fun to try. The corn is super tall and the paths are narrow. The good thing is it is a bit cooler in the field out of the direct sun.
Mom took a short video as they headed off into the corn stalks. Did they find their way out? Perhaps they got lost? Check out the video to see what happened.
Corn seemed to be the most popular thing at the apple farm. My sisters also found this corn crawl thing they could crawl through, but there were so many human kids, they never got the chance to give it a try.
There was a bean bag toss set up. My sisters thought it was nice because it created some shade. I’m sure you have noticed Bailie and Madison were showing off their world record length tongues in most of the photos. It was 90 degrees and humid so they only stayed at the farm for about an hour.
Despite being about dog day fun, dogs were not allowed inside the store. There were some nice rocking chairs outside the store entrance where pups could hang out and wait.
So many dogs showed up for the dog day fun! It was pretty crowded and that combined with the heat meant my sisters wanted to leave and get home to cool off in the a/c. It was a fun little outing and they say they will go back next year if there is another event. Have you been to a dog friendly orchard?
