As you know, last weekend was nose work camp weekend for my sisters. They packed their bags and left on Friday morning for Camp Warren in Eveleth. Being such a wild pair, how was the weekend? Did they actually learn anything?
This year as in the past two years, the lodging would be in the Cub Cabins right on Half Moon Lake. They got to be in a brand new cabin, but it wasn’t much different from the older ones. Mom and my sisters stayed in the smaller half of the cabin for the first time.
Because Bailie and Madison are wild ones, the first thing they did in the cabin was jump on the beds. Mom says they are just like small humans when it comes to bed jumping! Their room had a nice fireplace, but my mom doesn’t like fire, not even candles, so they did not use it. The cabin had heat to keep them warm.
After arriving and unloading, they took a short walk to stretch their legs after the drive. It was pretty muddy up there because they have had lots of rain, but my sisters managed to stay fairly clean. They stopped by the lake for a photo.
Saturday was a gorgeous day from sunrise to sunset! They got this photo on their early morning walk.
Madison checked out the tiny cabin. We still think Mom should get us our own mini cabin for the backyard! Bailie and I loved it too the first year we went to nose work camp!
The two vicious hounds proudly guarded the entrance to their cabin. One never knows when an intruder might show up.
In between their nose work sessions, they took walks long the lake and some breaks on the benches. Madison was super proud to be with the big dogs at nose work camp. She had a real blast!
The first night they did some searches in the Homaji Lodge which was fun. Because it got dark, Madison learned about flashlights. At first she was scared and was barking and howling, but eventually, she realized it was not a big deal.
Have you been in a yurt? We have and now Madison has too. They had searches in both yurts on Saturday.
Madison was impatient while waiting for her turn to search the yurts so Mom put her in an old cart and took a photo. It is fun because the camp is big and each year we get to search some different areas. Last year we were in the horse area for several searches!
Working two dogs is a lot of work, and Mom forgot about getting videos of our searches. She did remember once and got a video of Madison searching for one exterior hide on the deck. Being in heat, wearing panties, and being in a new spot were not a problem for the little one. She is all business with a good work ethic like I have! Pardon Mom’s lack of fashion, but with all the mud, she wore boots all weekend.
Sunday, they packed up and headed back home. We will see who gets to go next year. It is always a fun time and lots of learning takes place as well!
I would like to go to camp!
It is a lot of fun. Mom prefers a nice hotel, but she deals with the cabin experience because it is fun.
oh that is a good idea to have small cabins in your garden!!! I never was in a yurt, the have them a lot at festivals now and the mama would love to spend a night with me there (and with the dad of course sigh)
We only search them, we don’t get to sleep or hang out in them. They are kind of odd.
I love that tiny cabin!
We go into it every year! It is the perfect size for us, but we do prefer the human cabin with a ton of space!
What a cool camp outing those two had and it sure looks like a nice place!
It’s a beautiful place to spend a weekend and do some sniffin!
What a great place. Always nice to have beautiful surroundings to hang out in.
It’s very helpful in training us to work through distractions.
The girls did well then! It looks like such a fun time with all those different places to search and nice places to walk.
There are so many fun places to search and so much stuff to ignore and work through. A really good time every year!
Looks like you all had a great time. What a beautiful camp to explore!

Mom wants to go up north just to hike one of these days as it is so nice in the wilderness.
Looks like fun!
It is always a real blast!
Looks like a beautiful place to get to spend some time doing a fun activity! Glad your sisters and mom had a good time!
It’s a super fun place and being with friends is always a good thing. Learning lots of nose work with new instructors and in new places is good too.
You girls are lucky! We don’t get to go anywhere fun like that. Mom says it will change when she starts driving again, but i don’t know…. your freinds Chablis&Elbe
If you can’t drive, it is pretty limiting.
Fun video! Good job, M. Those scents canβt hide from you!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
She was amazingly focused for a young dog, in heat, in a whole new environment.
What a fun weekend! Madison looks cute in her panties when she is searching. I love the cabins and the lake is gorgeous. I’m glad it was a successful time. Your window sticker is adorable.
It is always a fun weekend. What dog doesn’t want to be in the woods on a lake. The bed is a bit small for the three of them, but it was cozy.
That looks like it was tons of fun! Madison was all business in the search that you showed. Very nice! It looks like a fun place to have camp π
Being so young, in heat, in a totally new kind of area, she had amazing focus. We are proud of her.
Sounds like a great camp, wonderful photos!
We look forward to it every year.
Looks like they had a great time – where were you Emma?
I was home. Mom could only take two of us, so I opted to have a quiet weekend at home getting spoiled being an only dog for a few days.
Looked like a perfect weekend for nose camp. I think the cabin for all was a nice one.
It is one of the nicer cabins. Mom says it is still a cabin and not a room at a fancy hotel, but with us and for camp she has fun and doesn’t mind too much.
Looks like a fun weekend!
It’s always a super fun time!
I would love that. It’s my kind of ‘camping.’ π
It’s the only kind of camping my mom will ever agree to!
